Things to do in Daylesford when you’re dead

Ghost stories abound, and tales of murder and tragic accidents date back to the early days, when life was more difficult and people lived and died around fields of gold. Daylesford, a small town in rural Victoria, Australia, along with its surroundings, has a wealth of stories, some spooky, some sad, but all interesting.

Locals tell of gold rush murders like the one in 1872, when a miner was killed and his body dumped down a mine shaft, unfortunately for the killer, the body lodged only 30 feet down the shaft and the murderer was accused and hanged. . The ghosts of 2 murdered Aboriginal girls are said to haunt the Fir Tree B&B guest house in nearby Trentham, guests have reported feeling their presence and seeing objects move on their own. The Cosmopolitan Club in Trentham was also said to be haunted by a 12-year-old girl, with sightings reported by former owners and guests. Many other hotels in the area have had reports of ghosts.

Taking the time to take a look at the local cemetery can give you an interesting insight into an area’s history and colorful past. Daylesford Cemetery has a large memorial to 3 little boys who were lost in 1867. Two brothers and a young friend went missing in the winter, looking for goats. A search was carried out with many volunteers, but to no avail. The bodies were later discovered when a local logging dog found a child’s boot. The bodies of the children were found huddled in a hollow tree.

Near Creswick was the scene of Australia’s worst mining accident. Creswick Cemetery has a stone memorial to the disaster where 22 miners lost their lives in 1882 at Australasian Mine No.2. Australasian Mine No. 1, already flooded, broke into Mine No. 2 and drowned the men working there.

The Eganstown Cemetery is located just above Deep Spring Creek. The locals say ‘it gives body to the water’ for bottled mineral water. Of course, the most famous death story in the Spa Region is that of the Hanging Rock Picnic. The story is about a school trip that goes wrong and culminates in the death of 3 girls and their teacher. The story is fictional but the setting is not, it is a beautiful walk and the rock formations are wonderful. Many people believe that the story is based on fact, the book is widely read and has been made into a movie.

Next time you’re in the Daylesford area, take some time to pamper your body and do a little soul-searching.

California Dog Bite Cases: You Better Keep an Eye on Your Pup

There is no doubt that Americans love their pets. Humans and dogs have been living together for tens of thousands of years. There is a saying that “a dog is man’s best friend”.

I myself have three dogs; two siberian huskies and a good old fashioned american mutt that i rescued from one pound.

Although a dog can be your best friend, a dog could become your worst nightmare if the dog bites and/or attacks a person.

In the state of California; Dog owners are strictly responsible for the actions of their dogs. In other words, if your dog bites a person, you are strictly responsible for all damages caused by the dog.

No matter how well trained your dog is, you never know when it will bite you. Even small breeds can cause bites that result in permanent scarring and significant damage.

It is your responsibility as a dog owner to ensure that your dog does not bite another person. You should always walk your dog on a leash; secure your garden and house so that the dog cannot escape and bite someone; and secure your dog in a room when he has visitors in your house. If you don’t take precautions when it comes to your dog, you could receive significant damages in a lawsuit if your dog bites someone.

In some cases, your owner’s insurance policy may cover you if your dog bites someone in your home or on your property. In some cases, it may not. If you have homeowners insurance that will cover a dog bite, that’s great, however, in the end you’ll probably end up paying a higher premium for homeowners insurance, or your insurance will be canceled entirely. If you do not have insurance, you could be stuck with a massive lawsuit in a lawsuit that you must pay out of pocket.

There is another issue regarding dog bite cases that affects landlords who rent their property to people who have dogs; A landlord can be held liable for their tenant’s dogs under the theory of negligence and premises liability. I have successfully handled cases against owners whose dogs bit a person.

Landlords are not strictly responsible for dog bites caused by their tenants’ dogs, however they could be held liable under the theory of negligence and liability if they know or should have known that their tenants’ dogs had a propensity to be aggressive and/or bites people.

The conclusion is the following; love your dogs, enjoy your dogs, but be sure to keep your dogs under control at all times. The consequences of not doing so could be disastrous.

If you are an owner, you may want to exercise caution when renting to people with dogs.

Highest CD Rates in Connecticut

In addition to providing CD rates, it’s fun to offer something else. Many tourist attractions use the slogan “CONNECTicut – Full of surprises”. So I wonder if your certificate of deposit rates will be a basket of happiness like a box of chocolates or a box of bitters. Enjoy the gifts, open them carefully.

Metlife Bank is headquartered in Bridgewater. Their FDIC # is 35055. They have about $14BB in assets. That’s pretty surprising given that they started in 1999, but of course they have an insurance company that I’m sure gave a lot of depositors access. Of course, who wouldn’t love a bank that has Snoopy as a mascot? Anyway, you’re here for the fees. Their CD rates really aren’t much to talk about. They have 1.25% for a 1 year CD and a measly 1.90% for 5 years. They have 3 1/2 stars from Bauer.

People’s United Bank is headquartered in Bridgeport. Their FDIC # is 27334. They have about $20BB in assets and were founded in 1988. The only rate worth talking about is the 5-year rate at 2.75%, but even that isn’t the best out there. They have a 5 star rating from Bauer.

Next up is the Naugatuck Savings Bank. FDIC# is 18198. Unfortunately, only their 5-year CD is competitive at 3.00% APY. It seems that most banks are willing to “pay” for 5 year certificates of deposit, but not for shorter term ones. Hmm, it makes you think they know something we don’t. They have a 4 star rating.

Friends, listen up. Rates will go up at some point. Unless the bank has a low penalty, I don’t think 5-year CDs make sense at this point. If you’re willing to trade over the phone or online, you can find some short-term (2 years or less) CDs in the 2.00% range.

A very close “sister” to the above, Naugatuck Valley Savings and Loan, FDIC# 30365, has a 5-month 1.00% liquid CD. They also have a 4-star Bauer rating. Doesn’t seem like such a bad deal considering most CD rates are in the 90-day to 180-day range. Since it has no penalty, if rates rise quickly, you can close it and take advantage of it quickly.

And now a disclaimer. We strive for accuracy, but we are human after all. So, check federal insurance, rates, and qualifications with any institution you want to make deposits with.

Mobsters, Gangs, Criminals and Thieves – Allie "TIC Tac" Tannenbaum

He was rail-thin (140 pounds, tops) and strikingly handsome. However, Allie Tannenbaum, who started out as a worker at her father’s Catskill hotel, became one of Murder Incorporated’s most accomplished assassins. Tannenbaum was also turned into a rat, which helped put her boss, Louis “Lepke” Buchalter, in the electric chair.

Tannenbaum was born on January 17, 1906 in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania. When Tannenbaum was just two years old, his father Sam moved the family to Orchard Street on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. In New York City, Sam Tannenbaum, like he did in Pennsylvania, ran a general store. When she was a teenager, Allie Tannenbaum had a habit of always talking and talking and talking. She talked so much that people said she sounded like clockwork, hence the nickname “Tick Tock”.

After World War I, Sam Tannenbaum amassed enough cash to purchase Loch Sheldrake Country Club, in the Catskills, New York state. When her father bought the country club, Allie was already in her junior year of high school (she later attended college for a few semesters as well). This was quite an achievement, since most kids Tannenbaum’s age on the Lower East Side had already dropped out of school after eighth grade and had jobs, some legal and some not-so-legal. Making use of his son’s abilities, Sam Tannenbaum employed Allie at her hotel, either waiting tables or setting up beach chairs at the lake. Despite the initial hard work he put on his son, Sam Tannenbaum was grooming Allie as his eventual replacement. However, that was not to be.

The Loch Sheldrake Country Club was a luxurious establishment and housed many wealthy Jewish families for their summer vacations. Jewish gangsters also frequented the country club. Among them were Harry “Greenie” Greenberg, Louis Lepke and his partner Jacob “Gurrah” Shapiro. Shapiro was a thick-chested gorilla who provided the muscle for Lepke’s many illegal enterprises. Whenever Shapiro got angry, and that was often, his favorite phrase was “Get out of here.” However, in his gravelly voice, the phrase sounded like “Gurra dahere.” Therefore, friends of his gave Shapiro the nickname “Gurrah.”

Allie Tannenbaum became acquainted with several of the country club’s visitors, including Shimmy Salles, who was a delivery man for Lepke’s rackets, Curly Holtz, a labor mobster, and even Lepke himself. As the son of the owner, the Jewish mobsters invited Tannenbaum to all their parties. Tannenbaum, per her agreement with her father, didn’t get a penny until after the summer, which basically ended with the holiday season. As Tannenbaum walked through her father’s resort with no money, she noticed that all the Jewish gangsters had a lot of money to dish out. This made him a possible suspect to be drawn into his organized crime world.

In the late summer of 1931, Tannenbaum was strolling down Broadway in Manhattan when he ran into Big Harry Schacter, one of Lepke’s subordinates.

Schacter asked Tannenbaum, “Do you want a job?”

“I could use one, if it pays,” Tannenbaum said.

Schacter smiled. “This one’s for Lepke. You know what kind of job it’s going to be.”

Tannenbaum shrugged and said that he would do whatever it took to earn some money.

Tannenbaum began working for Lepke, initially for $35 a week. His job included general tasks such as striking, strike breaking, and dropping stink bombs where they were needed. Later, Tannenbaum graduated to more important roles, as “schlammings”, which meant that he “chlammed” or smashed the head of union workers, who were not towing Lepke’s line.

As the output of his work increased, so did Tannenbaum’s pay. Finally, Tannenbaum, who by then had been involved in six murders and helped dispose of the body of a seventh murder victim, was earning an impressive $125 a week. Due to Tannenbaum’s summer location in the Catskills, his work primarily involved murder and extortion in upstate New York. Tannenbaum was a valuable asset to Lepke in Sullivan County, because Tannenbaum was familiar with back roads and numerous lakes, where bodies could be hidden. Over the winter, Tannenbaum and his family vacationed in Florida, where Tannenbaum worked as a strongman at several of Lepke’s gambling venues.

Tannenbaum’s greatest success for Lepke was the 1939 assassination of Harry “Big Greenie” Greenberg, suspected of speaking to the government about Lepke’s activities. Lepke gave Tannenbaum the task of assassinating Greenberg, through one of Lepke’s go-betweens (in order to insulate himself from any connection to a murder, Lepke never gave orders to his assassins).

Tannenbaum stalked Greenberg, first to Montreal, then Detroit, before finally cornering Greenberg in Los Angeles. On November 23, 1939, Tannenbaum, along with Bugsy Siegel, were waiting outside Greenberg’s apartment building. When Greenberg emerged, Tannenbaum and Siegel riddled “Big Greenie” with bullets. This was considered the first “mob murder” in Southern California.

In 1940, Tannenbaum was vacationing in Florida, when he received word that Lepke had been arrested and that Murder Incorporated killer Abe “Kid Twist” Reles was now singing like a canary about the work of Murder Incorporated. Tannenbaum immediately caught a train to New York City and went to the home of Charlie “The Bug” Workman, another of Lepke’s top killers. The reason for Tannenbaum’s visit was that he sought funding from Workman to go on the lam in Detroit. Luckily, while Tannenbaum and Workman were sitting in Workman’s living room, Detective Abraham Belsky knocked on the door to arrest Workman. Belsky was pleasantly surprised when he found Tannenbaum there, too.

At first Tannenbaum refused to yell. When Tannenbaum was questioned by police over a three-day period, he repeatedly said: “I refuse to answer for my constitutional rights.”

However, District Attorney Deckelman suddenly hit Tannenbaum with an indictment, accusing Tannenbaum and “Pittsburgh Phil” Strauss of the 1936 murder of Irv Ashkenaz, a cab owner, who was informing the police about the cab business. of Lepke in Manhattan. Ashkenaz’s body was found near the entrance of a Catskills hotel, riddled with sixteen bullets.

“We have enough information on you to put you in person,” District Attorney Deckelman told Tannenbaum.

Suddenly, Tannenbaum, living up to his “Tick Tock” nickname, started talking non-stop. Tannenbaum told Deckelman about all the murders he was involved in and how they were connected to Lepke.

On the witness stand, during Lepke’s trial, Tannenbaum put the final nail in Lepke’s coffin, when he gave an essay about the day he heard Lepke order the murder of a candy store owner named Joe Rosen. Lepke was always cool and collected, and careful about what he said in front of anyone. In fact, Lepke never gave Tannenbaum a direct order to kill. This information was always passed on to Tannenbaum through an intermediary, close to Lepke.

However, in 1936, Tannenbaum was ordered, through Mendy Weiss, to kill Irv Ashkenaz. However, Weiss told Tannenbaum to report directly to Lepke, when the deed was done. After disposing of Ashkenaz, Tannenbaum went to Lepke’s office downtown to tell Lepke that Ashkenaz was really dead. When he entered Lepke’s office, Tannenbaum was met by a furious Lepke, yelling at Max Rubin, one of Lepke’s closest confidantes.

Tannenbaum testified on the witness stand to District Attorney Burton Turkus: “Lepke was yelling that he gave Joe Rosen money to get him to leave, and then he sneaked into a candy store, after telling him to stay away. Lepke he was yelling, ‘There’s a son of a bitch that will never come down to Dewey about me. Max (Rubin) was trying to calm him down. Easy Luis. I’ll take care of Joe Rosen; he’s fine.'”

“What did Lepke say to that?” Turkus asked Tannenbaum.

Tannenbaum responded, “He says, ‘You told me that before.'” He says, “This is the end. I’m sick of that son of a bitch.” He says, ‘and I’ll take care of him.’

Tannenbaum testified that two days after his meeting with Lepke and Rubin, in Lepke’s office, he read in the newspapers that Joe Rosen had been shot 16 times as he was opening his candy store in Brownsville, Brooklyn.

Tannenbaum’s testimony, regarding the Rosen murder, corroborated Abe Reles’ testimony and was a death blow for Lepke. It took only four hours for the jury to convict Lepke of first-degree murder, which landed Lepke in the electric chair four years later. For his testimony against Lepke, Tannenbaum received a short jail sentence, a mild slap on the wrist for a man who had committed at least six murders.

Little is known about what Tannenbaum did for the rest of his life. He seemed to have disappeared from the face of the earth, except for the times when he reappeared, to testify against his murderous old friends. In Rich Cohen’s book “Tough Jews,” Cohen says that in the 1950s, Tannenbaum worked in Atlanta for a time as a lampshade salesman.

In 1950, Tannenbaum emerged from the woodwork and tried himself in the murder trial of Jack Parisi, another Murder Incorporated hitman, who had been on the run for ten years. Despite Tannenbaum’s testimony, a judge found Parisi not guilty.

In 1976, unlike most of his contemporaries, Tannenbaum died of natural causes on an unnamed island off the coast of Florida. He was 70 years old.

Indian dances

India is a diverse country, where this diversity can be easily distinguished in each region after certain miles. Also, Indian dances vary according to cultures, state and religions etc. The origin of the dances in India is more than 5000 years old. A figure of a dancer from the 2nd century BC. C., found in the ruins of Mohanjodaro, represents the fact. Also the three main Hindu deities of Lord Shiva, Lord Krishna and Maa Kali illustrate the dance. These dance forms are considered an integral part of Indian life.

Indian dance forms:

Dance is basically a physical and visual presentation, including many facial expressions, postures, gestures, and poise, etc. Indian dance forms range from ancient temple dances to classical, folk and modern styles. Classical dance is a landmark among all Indian dance forms.

Indian Classical Dance: The classical dances of India date back to 400 B.C. C., which refer to the Natya Shastra period of Bharat Muni. Natya Shastra is considered to be the supreme source for instilling the landmarks of the dances. It is also supposed to be the fifth Veda (as there are four Indian Vedas). Indian classical dances have now also spread their roots in Western countries.

The most popular classical Indian dances globally are Bharatnatyam (Tamil Nadu), Kathak (Uttar Pradesh), Manipuri (Manipur), Kuchipudi (Andhra Pradesh), Odisi (Orrisa), Mohini Attam (Kerala) and Kathalkali (Kerala), Kutiyattam (Kerala). ) ). Bharatnatyam is one of the most important dance forms in India. It is also considered as the national dance of India. The postures of this dance form are highly inspired by the sculptures of the ancient Chidambaram temple.

Indian folk dances: As India is a country of various states and regions, each region combines a different culture, which can be represented in its various forms of art. Each region of India has its own style of folk dance and music, which is performed at festivals, celebrations and all special occasions like weddings, plantations, harvests, religious holidays etc. It is not necessary that these folk dances are only performed by professional dancers, but many of them are also performed by ordinary people.

There are more than hundred Indian folk dances, among them some of the most important are Bhangra (Punjab) Bihu (Assam), Garba (Gujrat), Chah Baganar Jamur Nach (Assam), Changu (Orrisa and Andhra Pradesh), Giddha (Punjab) , Ghoomar (Rajasthan), Kavadi (Tamil Nadu), Karagam (Tamil Nadu), Kushan (West Bengal), Yaksha Gana (Karnataka), Dandiya (Gujrat), Lavani (Maharashtra) etc.

Getting apartments in Delaware with bad credit

Are you trying to avoid the credit check when looking for apartments in Delaware? Even though Delaware is the second smallest state in the United States, there are plenty of options to be found here when it comes to apartments. Since this is a small state, there is a higher chance that you will be able to find apartments that you can rent even if your credit history is not too expensive. You may want to seriously consider living here because of all the beauty of this place. It is in the northeastern part of the Delmarva Peninsula, so bodies of water surround Delaware.

What should you do if you have bad credit and want to move to a new apartment? All it takes is choosing the right one among all the apartments in Delaware. Choose which of the three Delaware counties you would like to stay in, namely New Castle, Kent, and Sussex.

The first thing you should do is take a close look at your credit report before looking through available apartments in Delaware. This can be requested from the bank. Review the report and see if there are any flaws you can fix so you can improve your credit score.

If you could improve your credit score, it would make it easier for you to find an apartment. The five most progressive places in Delaware are Greenville, Henlopen Acres, Fenwick Island, and Arden Town. However, you should be prepared to pay more expensive rent. For more affordable rental rates, visit places like Woodside, Millville, Townsend, or Farmington.

In order to achieve your goal of getting a new apartment despite your unimpressive credit history, you should look for apartments that are managed by a single owner instead of large corporations. These apartments are more common in places like Frankford, Magnolia, and Greenwood. It would be easier to deal with individuals than with companies that have strict regulations and processes.

For a bad credit history, it would help if you had a letter of explanation that you can present to the landlord. Keep in mind that the owners are also people just trying to run their business smoothly. Once you can reassure them that you can handle the monthly rent, you may be able to move into a new apartment.

Searching for available Delaware apartments online is a much more convenient way to gather enough information. This will save you a lot of time, effort and money. Check listings on various websites and you can even view photos of available apartments.

Bread pudding from humble origins to the best restaurants

As a child, I despised certain foods that I was sure I didn’t like even though I hadn’t tried them! Foods on my “will not eat” list include peas, coleslaw, broccoli, liver, tomatoes, lamb, mince pie, and bread pudding. A pudding made with bread didn’t sound good to me. As my taste buds matured, I found that I really liked most of these foods, especially bread pudding!

Anyway, for me, the name “bread pudding” doesn’t even come close to describing this truly delicious dessert. One of our favorite restaurants serves this golden whole wheat flan with a thick, creamy sauce that makes for a truly memorable dessert. You can even serve bread pudding for breakfast or brunch.

Did you know that bread pudding is an ancient dessert with humble origins in 13th century England? It was first known as a “poor man’s pudding” as it was made from leftover stale bread that was simply soaked in water, to which a little sugar, spices, and other ingredients were added. We still make bread puddings with bread, but the breads are often made especially for this pudding and the types are quite varied; breads such as brioche, challah, croissant, panettone, French, Italian, raisin bread, or scones.

Today, we are not content with simply soaking bread in water; instead, we use a rich mixture of milk or cream custard, eggs, sugar, vanilla, and spices. Sometimes even nuts, chocolate, fruit zest, alcohol, candied, dried or fresh fruits are added for more flavor and texture. The result is a rich, creamy, and decadent dessert that has now found its way onto the dessert menus of many fine restaurants.

1/4 cup unsalted butter

1/3 cup dark brown sugar

3/4 cup chopped walnuts, toasted

1 cup of milk

In a small saucepan heat milk, cream, butter, and brown sugar until melted. Remove from heat and whisk in the eggs and egg yolks. Beat the spices and salt.

caramel sauce

2 cups of cream

1 1/2 cups of sugar

1/4 cup of water

pinch of salt

1/4 cup butter

Heat the cream in a small saucepan over low to medium heat. While heating, add the sugar and water to a large, heavy, high-sided skillet over high heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves, then bring to a boil until it reaches a deep amber color. You’re going for a dark caramel here, because you’ll be adding cream, so don’t flinch and take it off the heat when it’s still a pale golden brown!

Remove from the heat and beat the cream. Be very careful and add the cream slowly – the caramel will bubble violently! Add the pinch of salt and butter and mix gently. Cook over low heat until slightly reduced. Makes approximately 3 cups. This will keep in the fridge for at least two weeks.
