Payroll Services Make the Process Easier for Small Businesses

Small startups are too busy developing core strategies and managing workflow and customer relationships that they often make a mess of many important aspects demanding their attention. One of those aspects is payroll.

Payroll is one of the fundamental parts of an organization. Many start-up small businesses overlook the importance of establishing a proper payroll department, proclaiming that their customers are more important to them. This approach often causes delays in salary distribution.

Because of that, most of your trusted resources fall back. Now the question that arises here is, would you be able to meet the needs of your customers if your dependents left you? What would your response be to your client whose project stops in the middle of nowhere?

Even big organizations don’t want to lose their hardworking people. A small business really can’t afford this loss. To keep your best employees with you, you need to make sure their salaries are distributed on time.

Key responsibilities of the payroll department

  • timing
  • Registry mantenance
  • On-time paycheck processing
  • Accounting
  • Work with the human resources department hand in hand

By handling all of these responsibilities, your payroll department or partner strives to build and maintain a positive image of your newly established business in the marketplace.

Not all small businesses have the funds to set up an in-house payroll department. If you are a startup and this seems to be the case for you, you may be able to hire a small business payroll service. These service providers can expertly handle your organization’s accounting, financial affairs, employee management, and salary distribution.

Small business payroll outsourcing is in your interest. That is how:-

Convenience: The load of the assistance, the control of the time, the preparation of checks and the transfer of the salary to the bank account of your employees is in your payroll partner.

legitimacy: Accuracy in salary calculation and during transactions affects when you handle salary distribution yourself while performing other core activities for your business. A professional payroll associate can alleviate the chances of all those mistakes and flaws.

Compliance: It is quite common for an employer like you to be unaware of the wage and payroll compliances required by the state and federal governments. If your service provider is the best small business payroll company in your area, then you can be sure that your business is compliant with the rules and regulations.

In short, some of the other advantages you get with a dependent payroll service provider are: tax expertise, accountability, and financial auditing for your business.

Digital Marketing

How to use Goodreads to sell more books – Self Service Advertising

After hitting that’post‘ When you first upload your book to Amazon or the multitude of other e-book platforms on the Internet, you may feel a little discouraged by the lack of sales. Selling books takes a lot of time and effort, and you’ll need to create a marketing strategy to get yourself out of the dark. A good place to market your book is Goodreads; a website filled with thousands of enthusiastic readers desperately searching for the next big title. And while you can post to forums and discussion threads, you can also invest in Goodreads’ self-service ad campaign, which gives you the opportunity to drive readers directly to your books.

Sale of electronic books with the self-service system

Did you know that Goodreads has a self-service advertising system? Neither did I until a few days ago. It’s a great way for self-publishers to market their books, and because the scheme uses a cost-per-click (CPC) model, you can carefully monitor how much you spend. It’s easy to sign up for the self-service scheme and you can create ads in a matter of minutes. While Goodreads staff have to authorize these ads, it only takes a day or two, sometimes less, and you can have a marketing plan up and running in no time.

Why use Goodreads to sell eBooks?

As already mentioned, Goodreads is home to thousands of readers around the world and thus provides an audience that is ready to buy and read books. This means that you could get a much better click-through rate with your CPC campaigns than if you used similar marketing models on other websites and search engines.

saving money

Marketing campaigns, especially those that use a CPC model, can lead to a cash hemorrhage. Every time someone clicks on your ad, you must pay for it. However, the Goodreads method allows you to set your sale price and put a cap on your daily spend. You can also craft your ad very carefully so that it only targets an audience that is most likely to buy your books. For example, telling people that your book is an eBook within the ad will prevent people looking for paperbacks from clicking on your ad and wasting their hard-earned money.

Goodreads can be a fantastic place to advertise, and if you want to sell more books, it’s definitely worth investing in website advertising. And, with the CPC model, you can carefully control what you spend and how you earn.

Health Fitness

HIIT training in pool

Winter may be approaching, but indoor pools are a great way to get a high-intensity workout without all the impact. The best part is that you don’t have to be someone who can swim all your strokes proficiently (you have to be able to swim long enough not to create a dangerous situation for yourself in the water) to exercise in the pool. There are many moves like high knees, glute kicks, squats, lunges and much more that you can do to get a great workout in the pool, especially in shallow water. And if you’re in an area where it’s still hot, then a pool or even the ocean (on a flat surface where there’s no marine life) will work just fine.

Water workouts are great for those who don’t want a high-impact workout. That said, you can still get a high-intensity workout in the pool. The benefit is that you have the resistance of water surrounding your entire body adding an extra element of intensity. Just like any other pool exercise, the key is to make sure you’re moving and moving hard to get your heart rate up. In the end, it’s a fantastic way to mix up workouts, cross train, and keep things interesting.

What you need: No equipment is required for this exercise. However, if you are uncomfortable or unable to swim, a life jacket or flotation device is always recommended. Flotation devices such as skateboards, floats, and small inner tubes can be used for hand or body support.

You will need a towel to dry off, a shower cap if you don’t want to get your hair wet, and a suitable swimsuit. Also keep a bottle of water handy to quench your thirst.

Additional items such as swimming goggles and masks are optional depending on your swimming preferences.

The workout: Jump in (please don’t jump into shallow water!) and acclimatize to the temperature for a few minutes if necessary.

Warm Up – Water Walk – 1 minute, Water Jog – 2 minutes

*15 – 30 seconds of rest between movements depending on your recovery time. If the time is too much for any of the movements, do the best you can for as long as you see fit.

HIIT – This high-intensity interval training means you have to work as hard as you can during each movement to get your heart rate up.

Route 1
High Knees – 1 Minute
butt kicks – 1 minute
Tuck Jumps – 1 Minute
Jumping Jacks – 1 minute
Water walk: 1 minute (break time: drink water if you need it)
*Repeat the circuit 2 times.

Route 2
Right Side Random – 30 seconds
Left Side Random – 30 seconds
Stepping only legs into the water: 1 minute (if you don’t know how to step into the water, substitute jump squats)
Chest Flys – 1 Minute (arms underwater – perform the Chest Fly exercise using only the resistance of the water)
Water walk: 1 minute (break time: drink water if you need it)
*Repeat the circuit 2 times.

Route 3
Squats (as fast as you can) – 1 Minute
Water run – 1 minute
Water walking lunges – 1 minute
Water jump with high knees – 1 minute
Water Walk – 1 Minute (break time – take water if you need it)
*Repeat the circuit 2 times.

Warm up: water jog: 2 minutes, water walk: 2 to 5 minutes, depending on how long it takes for your heart rate to drop.

Be sure to consult a doctor before beginning any new fitness program.

Chipmunk Home Remedies You Can Try at Home

Chipmunks, better known as squirrels, are sweet creatures, but they can also be tricky. They cause a lot of digging and gobbling throughout the garden and are very destructive to lawns and gardens. Chipmunks are ground dwellers, but for food and protection whenever they need it they climb trees and bushes. They are very alert to danger and are very quick in their movements. They must be removed so that the gardens are not damaged. They can be scared away by using certain repellents. But that is not the last solution.

Earlier mothballs were used and proved quite effective. But now it is useless. Among the remedies researched that will keep these squirrels away are nutmeg and cinnamon, peppermint oil, capacina, jalapeno peppers, serrana pepper, cayenne pepper, chili powder, Tabasco sauce, WD-40, aspirin and peanut butter, and also wisps of dog hair. Among these few, like chili powder, pepper can be placed around plants and these chipmunks cannot stand these strong spices.

There are commercial repellants on the market that may have a greater impact but will cost more than the homemade solution. Also fox urine found in the market when used by rubbing a cotton ball keeps squirrels away as they smell a fox nearby.

These little furry creatures sometimes make a type of rat hole to get into houses. So having a cat at home can also solve this problem. The simplest method is to build a cage out of peanut butter. Peanuts are a favorite among squirrels, so this form of trap works. Another effective way is to use water and then pour in sunflower seeds so that the water does not show. And then put a strip of wood against the side to act as a ramp and put some seeds on the ramp. The chipmunks are attracted to the paleness of the seed-filled water and without hesitation they jump. As a result, they die in the water. This is an easy way to eradicate them and most of them can be removed effortlessly.

All of these methods are tested at home and one of the above will certainly help to ensure that the problem is eradicated. These squirrels cause a lot of damage to the plantations since they damage the plants from the roots and also make tunnels in the soil. They are small, fast and destructive.

How to make your own high-efficiency refrigerator

Using high-efficiency technology and making a few simple lifestyle changes can have a big impact on your daily energy use and make living off the grid much more feasible. One of the technology upgrades I’ve made that I’m happiest with is my home-modified high-efficiency refrigerator. This refrigerator has been my only refrigerator for 4 years and has performed perfectly with extremely low power consumption. In this article, I’ll describe my reasons for the switch and explain how to do the conversion so you can try it out for yourself.

My motivation to experiment with a new refrigeration strategy came from my experience with my old refrigerator. It was a fairly common style of upright fridge with a freezer section in the top third and consumed an outrageous total of 5-6kwh per day! The biggest flaw of the ordinary refrigerator is that the doors are located on the side. Proper design must take into account the fact that cold air is denser than the rest of the air in your home and will sink when it gets a chance. Well, the cold air in your fridge gets that chance every time you open the door. As you look inside to select your next meal, all the cool air rushes past your feet and is replaced by warmer air from your living space that now needs to cool down. Also, magnetic door seals, no matter how airtight they are when new, will inevitably develop blemishes and constantly allow cold air to leak in.

An efficient refrigerator design must begin with a well-insulated chest container. If you don’t want to build your own, you’re in luck because any chest freezer will work just fine. Cold air inside the unit will not leak because the door is located at the top. Also, every time you open the refrigerator to grab something to eat, the cold air will stay inside and you won’t need to re-chill it as soon as you close the door.

The obvious problem with using a chest freezer as a refrigerator is that its thermostat is set for too low a temperature range. To solve this problem, it is necessary to set up another circuit with a thermostat and a relay switch to ensure that the temperature is maintained at about 4 degrees Celsius. Basically, this circuit should turn on the freezer compressor when the temperature goes above 4 C and turn it off when the temperature drops below 4 C. The easiest option would be to find a refrigerant line voltage thermostat with a range of 0 – 10 C but I couldn’t find one so I had to use a regular heating thermostat with a range of about 0-30 C. If I set this heating thermostat to 4 C and plug it into my chest freezer it will turn on the freezer when the temperature dropped below 4 C and this would only make it colder or if the temperature was above 4 C the thermostat would never turn on the freezer! More research was needed to resolve this issue.

The solution I found was the SPDT relay switch. An SPDT relay uses the electromagnetic force of a coil to control a switch in another circuit and this relay allowed me to use a heating thermostat to properly control the freezer compressor. When the heating thermostat reads a temperature of 3 C it will close its circuit and this will allow current through the relay coil and will turn the switch to the off position. When the heating thermostat reads a temperature of 5C it will open its circuit and this will stop the current through the relay coil and close the other circuit thus turning on the freezer compressor.

To connect the wires to the new thermostat inside the refrigerator, I opened the drain plug in the bottom corner of the unit. The hole is taped shut on the inside. The relay switch is hidden between the wall and the refrigerator for now. I’ll build a nice circuit box for it at some point.

I can store all the same foods in this chest refrigerator, but the organization has changed because the door is on the top. I found two Rubbermaid containers that fit quite nicely in the large storage area. I stack one on top of the other and only pull the top one out when I want to get to things at the bottom. I thought this process might get annoying, but I’ve found that I rarely have to do this if I just put my long-term storage items in the bottom bin and all my everyday items in the top bin.

Since the main reason for this project was energy conservation, I must tell you about the performance of this chest refrigerator. I hooked my energy meter up to this unit for a few days and found it used around 200Wh per day on average. That’s only 2 cents a day of electricity and a big drop from my previous power sucking model that used 5-6 kwh a day. The most efficient refrigerators you can buy new today use about 1 kWh per day and this design uses only a fifth of that!

This difference in power consumption only means a few dollars a year on my power bill if you’re already connected to the grid, but if you’re considering buying solar panels to power your home technology, then this difference in power consumption means spending thousands of dollars less on solar panels so the simple switch to a walk-in refrigerator makes living off the grid much more viable.

Sports

9 reasons why the NHL playoffs are better than any other sport

If you’re not watching the 2011 NHL Playoffs, you’re missing out on the best postseason in any sport, college or professional. Now I’m a bit biased since hockey is my favorite sport, but I’m a huge fan of all the major sports. I see the playoffs of all of them and I don’t think it’s close! You don’t get the same level of excitement from the NBA, MLB or NFL! Perhaps the NCAA Basketball Tournament is closed!

There has been a 4-goal comeback, serial comebacks, 13 overtime games (8 straight nights with an overtime game), 8 shutouts, 1 sweep, more hits (brutal hits) resulting in suspensions, standout goals, saves featured and now we have 4 games out of seven!!

Parody! Throw the records of the regular season! Wipe the slate clean! They are all on par. Advantage of ice at home? What an ice home advantage! It doesn’t matter if it’s #1 against #8 or #4 against #5. Any team can beat any other team at any time.*

*Except the New York Rangers, apparently!

Intensity! The intensity and competition in the playoffs is increased tenfold! I’m not even sure I describe it accurately enough. If you take the entire 82-game regular season and pack it into one game, you could get the intensity of the playoffs. Maybe! Players are giving 110% every second they’re on the ice. There is no time to rest or take it easy during a turn, even when your team is 4 goals ahead!

Rivalries! Rivalries rise and are born in the playoffs! There’s nothing like at least 4 games in a row with an opponent to start a rivalry! The rivalry between Vancouver and Chicago was virtually non-existent until three years ago, when the Blackhawks eliminated the Canucks from the playoffs two years in a row. Vancouver screeched for the Blackhawks last night with a Game Seven overtime victory. In the Eastern Conference you have a rivalry that has been going on since 1924! He is definitely still alive and well and another chapter will be decided with Game Seven tonight!

Physical game! There is more physical play in the playoffs because every player knows they have to give more to win in the postseason! That’s why you see guys who aren’t usually very physical throwing hits and being physical. Unfortunately, there is more headhunting and disrespect to much of the physical game. The concept of the physical game is to hit a player as hard as you can so that the next time he gets the puck, he panics a bit and makes a bad play. It is not insulting a player and taking him out of the game.

Playing injured! Guys play injured no matter how injured they are. They put their team before their own well-being! The coaches do everything they can to get the players back on the ice. Cortisone shots, potassium, Sudafed, ibuprofen, hot packs, cold packs and anything else that can get you back on the ice within the rules!

Extra hour of sudden death! Nothing beats sudden death overtime! There is nothing like it in any other sport! “But the NFL has sudden death overtime!” Really? It’s not even close to the same! Drop the puck and play hockey! Shoot the puck and throw it often because anything can happen in overtime!

unsung heroes! With teams planning to play against their opponents’ best players, it becomes more difficult for star players to play a significant role in a given series. This allows the somewhat unknown role-players to emerge! Who heard of Ben Smith before he scored the game-winning goal in Game 6 against Vancouver in his 13th NHL game? Role players become X-factors in the playoffs and can be a big part of determining who wins a series.

Goal! This could be the biggest and most important position in deciding who wins a series and ultimately the Stanley Cup! A goalie can get into a zone and lead a team to the Cup! We see it every year and some goalkeepers come out of nowhere to give their teams a chance to win every night! Look at Antti Niemi and Jaroslav Halak last year, Cam Ward and Dwayne Roloson* in 2006, and Patrick Roy in 1986, just to name a few!

*Rolosón and Fernández were a big part of the Minnesota Wild’s streak in 2003. I had to include my wild card even if they don’t belong in a current playoff column since they have missed the playoffs three years in a row! TO GET MAD! Tea brown fox you will get it!

The Stanley Cup! All this so they can raise Stanley! Lord Stanley’s Cup! The cup! The Holy Grail! It’s the ultimate goal and the biggest trophy in sports! You never hear about the NBA, NFL or Major League Baseball trophy because everyone wants the ring. I don’t think they care about the trophy because their trophies are pretty dumb! You can’t drink from them and why would you want to one day with those trophies! The NHL even calls their playoffs the “Stanley Cup” playoffs and the “Stanley Cup” Finals! It’s a multipurpose trophy! You can drink from it, eat, bathe babies in it, use it as a paperweight, food tray, storage, rescue cats with it, it’s a great wingman, the possibilities are endless! Stanley has broken away more than anyone I know. No wonder everyone wants to hang out with Stan!

Do you agree that the NHL has the best postseason? What has been your favorite part so far?

To shake or not to wave? That is the question

Sounds like a fun question, but what is the correct answer? Is there a universal unwritten rule? Do you always have to say hello so that other runners see you as friendly? Or should you only say hi to people you know so a stranger doesn’t think you’re a potential stalker?

In Texas, it is typical to greet and even wave at each passing runner in their races. Heck, I wave to joggers, walkers, people’s dogs, and even some passing motorists yelling out the window. I imagine they’re saying “Hello!” because they know me or they’re admiring my sweaty butt. Either way, a wave is indicated. I also talk non-stop while running, so people either love to run with me or find me incredibly annoying. I was even told by another runner to shut up while running a marathon. I guess they were having a bad day. I know my incessant chatter can distract me, but what about the wave?

To complicate the music in my head, I also wonder about the bikers. Do you say hello to everyone on a bike? After diving headfirst into the triathlon world a few years ago and riding hundreds of miles, I still don’t know the answer to the hello question when it comes to cyclists. The first few months I was learning to ride a bike without falling; a wave would have made me crash. I didn’t even think about it! Now, I often wave or at least nod at passing cyclists. You never know who is a friend or not with the headphones on.

Geography may also have something to do with it. I’ve realized, after doing quite a bit of running while traveling, that auto wave is not the norm in other cities. I even started to think it was just a Texas thing, but I remembered my childhood running in Rhode Island, where everyone waved. On the other hand, everyone knew everyone else in my small town. Maybe it’s something from the suburbs. In fact, while I was running in Chicago, people were looking at me quite strangely when I waved. No one actually greeted me back and I have to admit I didn’t feel very welcome when I finished. My experience was similar in Pittsburgh. It doesn’t shake much. I was expecting the same in New York, but was surprised when I got quite a few waves and even a passing growl while running. Who knew New York running backs could be friendlier than those in Chicago and Pittsburgh?

Therefore, I embarked on a mission to answer the undulating question. To greet or not to greet? After a highly unscientific survey of over a hundred runners across the country, it turns out there are no hard and fast rules. However, there are some vague guidelines:

1. It is always better to say hello than not to say hello unless you are running in a city. Vacillators can be mistaken for muggers.
2. Wobblers tend to go out for a recreational run, not a hard-paced run or speed training.
3. There are more waves in the South than in the North.
4. Women greet more than men. In fact, one man felt that a wave can be interpreted as a pickup line.
5. Doubters often use an iPod and don’t even realize they may be seen as rude and hostile.
6. Most cyclists haven’t really even thought of waving, but feel that a simple nod is recognition enough.

So I guess there’s not a universal rule about waving, but I’m going to continue to wave to all runners to try to foster a sense of community while running, but as far as cycling; I think I’ll stick to the wink.

Technology

Air conditioning installation: hire an expert to ensure safety

Electronics perform essential functions in your life. Owning a television, a refrigerator and an air conditioner is considered normal in every home. Although the equipment is ubiquitous, very few people have the knowledge to install and repair it.

Of all these, installing air conditioning requires the most training. That’s why most trust HVAC professionals for installation and repair. Finding a dependent HVAC company can be tricky. An air conditioner keeps your home comfortable during the hottest times of summer. If it’s not installed correctly in the first place, it can cost almost twice as much to reinstall it. Many people hire air conditioning experts to ensure safe and correct installation. Following these tips can help you avoid the mistakes that many people make during installation.

1. If you’re moving into a new home and the building contractor insists on installing your air conditioner, make sure they bring in an expert from a qualified HVAC company to do the installation. A lot of times, people let contractors do it and don’t hire HVAC experts for the installation. In such a case, you may have problems after moving into the house. A qualified HVAC installer adjusts and tunes your air conditioner to manufacturer specifications, reducing the chances of breakdowns.

2. If you’re renovating your home, you can change the layout, use of space, or even use a different material for construction. All of this will affect the size of the unit you should purchase for your home. Most people avoid this detail and simply replace the old unit with a new one, possibly from the same company and the same size. That unit may not be as energy efficient as you’d like, or it may not cool your home enough. It is better to take the advice of an expert before installing an air conditioner to avoid these problems.

3. If you just reinstall the old air conditioner or get the same model without looking for more options, you may be missing out on some really upgraded versions of these units that would improve the comfort of your space. With the innovation in technology, much more sophisticated HVAC technology units are available in the market. You would know all this if you had hired an expert to guide you through the purchase and installation.

4. The biggest mistake of all is hiring a company that only installs air conditioners but doesn’t repair them. It is very important to choose an HVAC company that will not only install your new air conditioning units, but can also repair them when needed. Once the air conditioning unit is installed, make maintenance your priority. Otherwise, your drive will break down more often.

Installing an air conditioning system may seem like a trivial thing to do, but if it’s not done correctly, it can cost you quite a bit of money to fix. To avoid all the hassle, hire a real HVAC expert in the first place who will not only install your unit but also offer its maintenance.
