The latest summer trend: glamping

Camping has reinvented itself and become more appealing to even the most glamorous and upper-class population. A trend is gaining popularity around the world known as glamping or glamorous camping. Described as a truly unique experience with a rare mix of wild and refined, rough and tumble, glamping is sure to give a whole new meaning to preparing for camp. Inspired by wealthy concert goers and luxury safaris, the days of camping in tents are long gone. Who says camping can’t be five star? High-end designer camping gear has hit the shelves and glamping resorts are opening their doors in the world’s most beautiful places. Glamorous camping is all about comfort and luxury. Eco-consciousness is all the rage and going green is a strong theme at most glamping resorts. Activities are part of the package at most resorts. Horseback riding, kayaking, fishing, private boats, swimming, safari, hiking, rafting, wildlife viewing – this list goes on. These resorts vary in price, but most can be very expensive, fully equipped with room service, massages, and butlers. For example, in the summer months, two adults can pay around $8,500 to spend three nights in a tent at the Clayoquot Wilderness Resort in British Columbia, Canada. Entire families routinely spend $50,000 on a week-long glamping trip to Clayoquot. Don’t let this disappoint you if you can’t find it in your budget to visit one of these luxury glamping resorts. Many glampers have taken matters into their own hands and are organizing their camping trips themselves. Start camping in style. Create your own oasis wherever you go. Both Polly and Barbie have their own glamping setup and so can you. That is how.

Shelter Options:

The first thing you need to do is establish what type of refuge you want for your glamping trip. If you decide to use a tent, you need to make sure that it is waterproof. Look for tents that can access electrical power if needed. Also many companies lease and lease shelters for your use. Sometimes this is a very good option, especially when it comes to large tents. It allows you to try before you take out your wallet.

  • Tent (Look for color and patterns. More and more camping supply stores are offering options other than the military green we’re so used to seeing.)
