Eating at the door of your house with food at home

Food delivery used to be left to fast food operators and those who could actually afford to hire the necessary resources to ensure they had island-wide coverage. The logistics of it all are quite expensive to maintain, and you have to make sure that the food that arrives at your front door is just as good as the food that arrives on the table at the restaurant. Singapore has changed and there has been a change in our eating habits. While we still like to eat out, there is a large percentage of us, working professionals and even regular people on the street, who prefer to be in the comfort of our homes when we eat our favorite food. And the industry has responded sportingly with an explosion of delivery services.

Usually, only fast food giants like McDonalds, KFC, and even Pizza Hut had the demand to provide such a service, but things have changed. The way of eating has changed and we have become much more demanding when it comes to ordering food. For starters, our in-house menu has expanded from our almost judicious contact with the outside world via TV or meeting expats in Singapore who can only talk about international cuisine. Sure, we have a favorite restaurant that serves our favorite Spanish food or Italian pasta, but sometimes the situation doesn’t allow us to just pack up and go to the restaurant. Fortunately, many of these new restaurants (mid-range eating places) have decided to upgrade and extend delivery services to their customers. Not only is it a good business venture for a slowly expanding population of diners as the day goes by, but it also encourages the rest of the industry to follow suit.

Every day I get more and more flyers from new restaurants of all stripes offering their delivery service and some have even gone online. McDonald’s was one of the pioneers of the online delivery service, and soon Pizza Hut, KFC, and a host of other low- to mid-range foodservice operators began to follow suit. Personalization is the word here and now, the option to mix and match orders and even add extras only adds to the experience. Dining at your doorstep with food delivery in Singapore is a reality. Now, it’s no longer just a ‘burger and fries’ experience but an international fair.

You can literally have the world in an hour delivered to your doorstep, piping hot and fresh. Try the different services available, some are definitely better than others in terms of delivery time, freshness, and price. I’m not saying never date; I enjoy dining at a restaurant with friends and family, but sometimes I just want to lounge at home with my TV and my favorite treat by my side, waiting to be eaten.
