Home improvement carpenter services

Are you starting to get bored of how your house looks inside and out? Have you had an idea or plan in mind for a few months, even a year, about how you can breathe new life into your home? If you say yes, but unfortunately you don’t have the woodworking skills to turn your ideas into reality, then it’s time to find some woodworking services to help you out.

In every city and every town there are a good number of contractors who offer their carpentry services. And these carpenters have a wide range of skill levels, usually depending on their experience and also the size of the business. For example, a lone carpenter who has been in his trade for only a couple of years should be specializing in home repair. That’s for things like fixing his door and window, fixing a creaky floor, or building a nice tree house for his kids.

There are also the big ones, carpenters who can work on all carpentry and construction projects and for the regular homeowner customer, they offer home improvement services. These are the guys you’d want to contact if your home remodeling ideas involve adding an addition to your home, reroofing, or completely remodeling the interior of your home.

When projects as large as these are part of your home improvement plan, then you should put a lot of effort into finding and hiring the right carpenter for the job. You can start by asking a friend who recently had a home improvement project of their own if they can recommend the carpenter who worked for them. That’s the best kind of recommendation you can get because your friend is not only a trusted source, but you can also see that carpenter’s work.

If that doesn’t work for you, just make a few phone calls and interview these carpenters one on one. Look up how much experience they have, and most importantly, ask for a portfolio of their past woodworking projects so you can get a good idea if they’re the right people to do your home improvements.

However, if all you want is a set of new kitchen cabinets, you’ll have to look for carpenters who specialize in joinery. Some carpenters would rather work only in one specialization than spread their services too widely. Because this way they can master the art of carpentry and be considered an expert or authority in that type of carpentry services.

And there are the multitude of carpenters who call themselves handymen who can do all the minor home repairs, including some electrical and plumbing repairs. These are the people you’ll call when all you want is some minor repair work.

Therefore, the important thing is to assess how complicated or big your home improvement or whatever repair you want is. Then narrow down your list of potential contractors that you think can actually do the job.

EV charging stations for the new generation of electric cars

Arranging for charging station installation will initially be part of the buying process for your first electric vehicle (EV). All manufacturer-approved chargers will meet SAE J1772 standards for electric vehicles and electrical connectors.

You will not be able to buy the car unless you are willing to install a charging station in your home. Consumers purchasing the Nissan Leaf will be required to use their exclusive contractor, AeroVironment, for the installation of home chargers. They may be able to install their own charging equipment if they sign a waiver.

The Chevy Volt will come standard with a 110-volt charger that will allow you to charge directly from your home outlet. For Volt customers who prefer to have a 240V fast charger installed, SPX Service Solutions is the exclusive contractor for your fast charging station installation.

There is a huge difference in the range of vehicles due to the size of their battery packs. Chevrolet considers the Volt a plug-in hybrid vehicle. GM describes the car as an extended-range EV (electric vehicle) with a smaller battery. The LEAF is strictly electric with a much larger battery pack that is 2-3 times the size of the volt. Chevy Volts 16kwh battery will probably only use 8 kw. The Leaf will pack a 24KWh battery, but you’ll probably need to use 80-90% to get longer battery life. To fully charge the LEAF, it will need to be plugged into a 110v outlet all day. The cost to install a Tier II home charging unit is expected to be around $2,200.

With the Nissan LEAF and Chevy Volt expected to be the first cars to require the installation of a Level 2 home charger until 2012, demand for home charging units is expected to remain low, barring a surprising number of first time owners choose to have fast chargers professionally installed.

There are now a number of companies entering the charging station market. AeroVironment was the first company to engage in the development and construction of Tier II domestic charging units. The reason they won the contract from Nissan was probably because they were the first to offer a product. Most of the other companies that are developing and building charging stations have focused on industrial units for commercial and municipal facilities. However, that is changing as the first mass-market electric vehicles are finally ready for launch.

Below are the companies that currently manufacture Charging Stations for Electric Vehicles

ECOtality – ETec

Now called ECOtality North America, ECOtality has been producing electric charging stations for quite some time. Industrial equipment, such as forklifts, have used electric charging technology for some time. They have used their experience to market the Minit-Charger for residential and commercial charging applications. The EV Project, which is managed by ECOtalty, seeks to install thousands of charging stations over the next year in the 5 states where EVs will be launched for the first time. ECOtality also installs stations from other manufacturers. ECOtality makes Level I and Level II chargers, but does not make DC fast charging equipment. ECOtality has recently introduced a new line of Tier II home and commercial charging stations. The new stations, designed by global industrial design firm, frog design, are believed to help update its conservative image.

SPX

SPX has been selected by Chevrolet to be the exclusive service provider for the purchase and installation of the Chevy Volt 240 volt home rapid charger. SPX will facilitate all aspects of purchasing and installing fast chargers that will charge the Volt in approximately 4 hours. The SPX team will advise homeowners on the requirements for upgrading their electric service to accommodate the home’s charging system and even help them take the necessary steps to qualify for reduced electric rates.

Aeroenvironment

AeroVironment was chosen to be the exclusive home charging installation contractor for the Nissan LEAF. Although AeroVironment is primarily known for its residential installations, it is one of the few companies that sells Fast Charge and Level II DC chargers for commercial use. AeroVironment is a well established company that has developed drones for the military for many years. The company was responsible for the charger for the Impact, the precursor to the GM EV1 built in the 1990s. They also developed the charging stations for the EV1, so it’s only natural that they make the newer versions of the charging stations.

Coulomb Technologies

Coulomb technologies is one of the best known electric vehicle charging manufacturers. Coulomb is rapidly building out its network of member charging points, which will allow its members to stop at any of its stations and start charging immediately. Currently, most of the 300 stations they have installed are Level I, however they have now started installing Level II chargers as well.

clipper creek

Clipper Creek, a lesser-known company, has been selling chargers for decades. Their equipment design is not as modern and sleek as some of the newer styles. Its chargers are more oriented to the installation of fleets than to homes or companies. Clipper Creek has made it known that their products can be installed anywhere. They run the home charging facilities for the Tesla Roadster. These charging stations are designed for Level II charging only and come in a variety of configurations to meet your customers’ needs.

General Energy

The newest entrant to the EV charging station market is GE. They have just introduced their new Watt Station charger. The first version is primarily intended for commercial installations, but there are plans to introduce a residential version later this year. The Watt Station is known for its attractive design. Legendary designer Yves Behar is the mastermind behind Watt Station’s elegant style. It is also the first model to incorporate smart Wi-Fi technology.

PEP stations

A little-known company called PEP has started working with Ford to build rugged, rugged charging stations that can handle some rough use. These units are architecturally designed with a concrete base and stainless steel top. These units are primarily marketed for commercial and municipal installations. This obscure company has no track record, so its quality remains to be seen. The designers used high quality automotive grade components, so they are built to be robust.

Best place

Better Place is known for its drum-changing techniques. Now they have started the installation of vehicle charging stations in Israel and Denmark. So far they have no plans to sell their units for residential use. We mention them here because they may change your strategy to offer residential charging options.

leviton

Leviton is a huge and well-known electrical supply company. They are an established company with a large number of service technicians. Leviton includes a 10-year warranty on its “Evr-green” home and commercial charging stations. Leviton Evr-Green charging stations can support Tier I and Tier II charging and will integrate with Point of Charge charging stations. Leviton has also introduced a standard installation method that is the industry’s first pre-wired plug system for its Level II chargers. This system will allow consumers to have their homes “plug-in-ready” before purchasing any electric cars. This pre-wired system starts at less than $200, not including installation, and is designed to reduce installation costs and shorten installation times. The pre-wired kits must be installed by a Leviton-certified installer, but once the system has been installed, the consumer can easily add the Level II charging station.

Currently, these are the major players in the electric car charging market. Only time will tell who will emerge as the market leader and what other new players will join the fray. If you’ve heard of other players making electric car charging stations, please let me know so I can put them on this list.

Why Posture Correctors Actually Make Your Posture Worsen

Poor posture: an epidemic in 2010?

We all seem to spend a higher percentage of our days hunched over in front of our computers. Whether we’re at work, at the local Starbucks, or at home, most of us spend hours a day in front of a computer. Email and social media have become an integral part of our daily lives, and most of us are hunched over while in front of our computers.

To make matters worse, most of us still spend a lot of time watching television and driving, two activities in which most people don’t have ideal posture.

Do you remember your mother telling you to stand up? Well, think of today’s kids who spend most of their day in front of a computer or playing video games. Poor posture is quickly becoming part of our culture, and the negative effects go far beyond a sore neck and back pain.

Bad posture = bad health

People with bad postures suffer countless negative consequences. These can include obvious problems like neck and back pain, a misaligned spine, rounded and sloping shoulders, osteoporosis, and arthritis. But it can also lead to less obvious side effects, such as decreased energy, organ malfunction, abdominal discomfort, and many other problems.

Additionally, poor posture gives one the appearance of poor health, low self-esteem, and a general lack of confidence.

Posture correctors, the miracle cure?

Traditional braces come in various sizes, materials, and configurations. From thin, stretchy over-the-shoulder posture bras to Velcro vests and back braces made from surgical tubing, they all try to do the same thing: pull your shoulders back to maintain an upright posture and straight, correct posture. The problem with most braces is that they actually put the wearer into the correct posture. So why would that be a problem?

The problem with traditional braces is that they do the work for you. The passive nature of having your shoulders back serves to weaken your back muscles, which actually worsens your posture over time, thus defeating the very purpose of wearing a posture correcting brace.

Most people who have tried traditional braces have experienced the discomfort, chafing under the arms, and difficulty wearing that most devices offer, but most do not realize that in the process of treating By improving posture, the user could actually be causing long-term atrophy of the back muscles that are required for good posture.

Use a stock trading journal for successful investing

The market changes all the time and it is extremely important to keep track of everything you do in a stock trading journal. I have a few different journals where I keep track of what strategies I’m monitoring and what future concepts I want to develop. In fact, I am one of those who have posts everywhere and at the end of the day I collect and document those that are important so that the idea or symbol is not lost.

I even have a habit of taking screenshots of charts that I keep in a desktop folder with the date and what I was looking at specifically. This proves to be a useful reflection strategy that allows you to look back into a window into your previous thinking and psychological processes, where you can then take that experience and turn it into future learning to see how certain stock indicators react at certain key moments. Having that static image with annotations really helps you become a great graphics technician.

Now, before you get overwhelmed with the thought of having to journal or take notes on your trades, remember that it doesn’t have to be a daily activity. Each for your own and do what you feel comfortable with, but at least give it a try for 30 days to see if you find value, even if you only take notes 2-3 times a week. I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to see development in areas where you’re making progress or areas where you’re possibly stuck. I don’t know how many times I remember a symbol that I wanted to go back and look at and if I didn’t have my notes it could just as easily get lost.

Another key point to keep in mind here is that you cannot compare yourself or your performance to anyone else. This is a major mistake a trader can make that leads him to trade outside of his plan if he is not getting the results he wants or believes he should be. Your job is to be yourself, which involves determining what type of trader you want to be and creating a trading strategy around that personality. Do not cleverly copy the trading styles of other role models, as not everyone is cut out to be an impulse trader or a long-term trader. You have to become the best trader you can be, Because if you try to trade outside of your trading style, you will ultimately sabotage your trading results.

How to Get a Great Workout With an Ab Bench

One of the best things about exercising at home is that it is extremely convenient and saves a lot of time. However, sometimes it is missing some of the equipment that makes a gym so effective. However, one inexpensive piece of equipment that is a great addition to any home gym is an ab bench.

The abdominal bench is excellent because it is an adjustable piece of equipment that can be adapted to almost any body type. And you can adjust the angle of the bench to work your abs from a variety of positions and create a more intense ab workout… Plus, variety is just plain fun.

Here are some things to help you get the most out of a bank.

First, before starting your workout, it’s best to warm up. Do some light cardio, like biking or running, to warm up your muscles. Then do some light stretching.

Once you are fully warmed up, the next step is to set the angle of your sit up board. For the most part, the greater the angle of the sit-up board, the more difficult your workout will be.

A person with strong abs will want to take advantage of a greater angle. Someone relatively new to the exercise will want the angle to be zero… or flat.

Now that you’ve established the angle, step on your sit-up bench. Start by contracting your abs, not forcefully, and pull your navel in toward your spine. Stand up using your abs.

Don’t move your arms to assist and don’t lean your head forward to build momentum. You want to focus on using your abs to get the job done. Do 3 sets of 20 repetitions of this exercise.

Once you’ve completed the above exercise, move into the position to focus on your lower abs. You do this by placing your head where your feet were anchored and holding onto the post or bench. Again, pull your belly button in toward your spine before beginning the movement. Then, pull your knees in toward your chest making sure not to rock with the movements. Focus on letting your abs do the work.

As you get stronger, you can consider adding weight. For the first exercise, the crunch, you can hold a weight across your chest. For the lower abs exercise, you can add ankle weights to make it more challenging.

Why Cyprus to study abroad?

I would like to discuss the potential for US college students to study abroad in Cyprus and discuss the relevance of study abroad students and advisors exploring Cyprus as a relevant and meaningful study abroad destination.

Firstly, let’s take a look at the perceived obstacles to studying abroad in Cyprus.

1. Few Americans know much about Cyprus.

– so what? Let’s learn!

– most who know Cyprus love it

– Cyprus is a modern and prosperous EU (European Union) country and Americans should know about it

2. Because the first language in Cyprus is Greek, many American students and study abroad advisors may incorrectly assume that unless students are proficient in Modern Greek, they will not be able to study at a Cypriot institution of higher learning.

– yes, the official language of Cyprus is Greek, but the majority of the population is multilingual and English is commonly spoken as a second language

– the University of Nicosia uses English as the official language (except in the School of Education) of instruction and administration

– Non-Greek speaking students can easily navigate the university, community and travel around Cyprus in English only

3. There are very few colleges and universities in Cyprus

– until 2008, there was only one (1) university in Cyprus

– in 2008, the Ministry of Education granted university level status to four private schools

– The University of Nicosia was established more than 25 years ago in the US higher education structure and operates academically and administratively in parallel with most US universities.

4. Cypriot institutions have not promoted themselves in the US study abroad market.

– until 2004, when the University of Nicosia (formerly Intercollege) developed Global Learning Semesters as an organization to serve as international marketing and support to US students for Intercollege, there was very little promotion of Cypriot higher education to the undergraduate market of Nicosia USA

– Global Learning Semesters now supports hundreds of US college students studying at the University of Nicosia annually.

5. Because Cyprus is a bicommunal society divided by a United Nations demilitarized zone, some people may think that Cyprus is a dangerous place.

– Cyprus is a democratically stable nation, a prosperous member of the European Union, and has not experienced any violence related to the bicommunal state since 1974.

– An ideal learning laboratory for students, the bi-communal state of Cyprus is an excellent place for students to learn about international relations, active UN negotiations, and ethnic/national divisions in a stable, non-violent society.

6. Because Cyprus is so close to the “Middle East”, some people may think that it is an Arab nation and/or may have security issues related to “Middle Eastern” countries.

– Located in the Mediterranean, Cyprus is a close ally, neighbor and friend of Greece.

– Cyprus considers itself a “Christian” nation and most Cypriots observe Orthodox Christianity.

– in geographical proximity, Cyprus is closer to Israel, Egypt and Turkey than to its Western European counterparts

– politically, economically and internationally… Cyprus is a member of the European Union and therefore functions as a prosperous European society

– Culturally, Cyprus has a long and diverse history of living at the crossroads of European, Middle Eastern and North African civilizations and thus benefits from a culturally diverse perspective and exposes the average American student to a crossroads Mediterranean never seen before. in many of the common destinations Americans meet

Below, let’s look at some of the important factors that any student should consider when choosing a relevant study abroad program.

1. What are the academic options available?

2. Can I earn academic credits that will be added to my study plan?

3. Do I meet the program’s eligibility requirements?

4. Will the cultural experience be relevant to my academic, personal, and professional goals?

5. Are student support services meeting my needs?

6. Can I afford it?

Will the cultural experience be relevant to my academic, personal and professional goals?

Nicosia (sounds like nik-oh-see ya), the capital of Cyprus is a modern European city. Those who have traveled to Europe previously will find Nicosia and most of Cyprus very familiar. Those who have not traveled to Europe will get a “small” perspective of Europe as a very historical region of the world and also as a modern and dynamically growing society.

American students participating in a study abroad program at the University of Nicosia through Global Learning Semesters will attend classes with approximately 4,000 local Cypriot students and 1,000 international students. Students will live in apartments in the residential neighborhood surrounding the University’s Nicosia campus.

Again, Cyprus is a small nation, not too overwhelming for American students, even from non-metropolitan communities, so students don’t need to be travel experts to get the most out of community immersion.

Cyprus is a historically fascinating country and offers meaningful practical experiences for those interested in international relations, international business, history, management, economics, and other humanities and social sciences.

Student Support Services

American students participating in a study abroad program at the University of Nicosia will enjoy world-class student support services, tailored to the characteristics of American students studying abroad and strategically providing the level of support needed to make even the first-time international traveler a travel-savvy student comfortable, yet challenged to develop intercultural competencies.

Global Learning Semesters provides comprehensive student support services, including pre-departure and on-site orientation, 24/7 local staff support, emergency response, field trips and strategic co-curricular activities, housing , academic and personal support. Yes, Cyprus is an academically and culturally relevant place for American college students to study abroad for the summer, semester, or full year.

Do you make yourself available to date?

How often do we hear people say that they never find anyone suitable to date? No matter how hard they try, they regularly check online dating sites, accept friend invites, join various groups, they never seem to find anyone they really get along with. Is there something else going on, or are they really ready, available to date, and just unlucky in their search?

If this is your case, what needs to happen for you to be available to date?

– To work it can place many demands and distractions on our being available to date. Being tired, worried, or overly engaged can mean we have little free time or energy to make the effort to look attractive and be receptive to someone else’s charms. Preparing to meet someone new requires a certain amount of effort, time, and money, and it’s not always spared if we’re immersed in business demands, deadlines, and family concerns.

We may not even be sure how free we will be to wholeheartedly pursue a new relationship in the weeks and months ahead. Working long hours or being away from home on a regular basis can dampen our desire to date. We’re already so busy that even thinking about the early days of a new relationship can seem like too much of an effort to bother us. However, building a business or career is often done with an eye toward our future expectations, hoping to settle down with a partner, have a family, build a home together.

Taking care to find a better balance in life often incorporates a mindset shift where we include all areas of life and make ourselves available to date.

-Friends They know us well and may insist that they really want to see us settled down and loved in a great new relationship, but is that really the case? Are you sure that deep down they are okay with changing the existing dynamic of their friendship, where their time and loyalty may start to be influenced by the need to consider someone else?

You may notice a change in his behavior as you start to need him more, or he becomes negative or critical of any potential new suitors. Pay attention to what’s going on and try to talk about how you both feel. Assure them that they will always be important, and make it a point to keep in regular contact, even if it sometimes has to be done over the phone or online.

-Family It can be interesting, especially if you are very close to your siblings or parents. Siblings may be jealous at the prospect of their brother or sister dating, especially if they have shared a lot, perhaps helped each other through difficult times, survived a breakup and spent many hours together sharing confidences and advice, communicating regularly . base.

– Daughters and mothers. Girls often say that their mother is their best friend, they call each other every day, they talk about everything. But there is a saying, give your children roots to grow and wings to fly. Some mothers have a hard time letting go and are overly dependent on their daughters for companionship. They can be possessive, loathe to lose their intense closeness to a new third party.

If a mother refuses to let go, she may hijack the possibility of a blossoming new relationship for her daughter. Often in a position of influence, she can always be around with money, gifts, inside knowledge of what buttons to push. She can call regularly, constantly available to help and provide support at any time. How can a potential new relationship compete with such an intimate and long-established bond?

– Children and parents They are also often great companions, sharing hobbies and interests, perhaps spending hours together out of a common love of sports, cars, etc. Some can work together and be the best companions. A new girlfriend can be quite an intrusion into the amount of time you normally choose to spend together. As with mothers and daughters, it can be difficult to separate if the father is reluctant to step back and decides to come out strong with guilt, loyalty, or the ‘why bother with him or her’ card.

If you’ve started to realize how much you’re struggling to be available to date, accept that the change has to come from you. You need to determine what is happening or what is going wrong. Any new relationship requires effort, commitment, and can sometimes feel like hard work.

If you finally want to settle down, maybe find a long-time partner, maybe start a family, some things may have to change. Being more assertive and assertive with some of your existing relationships may well be a step you will need to take. You must be prepared to do whatever it takes to be mentally, physically, and emotionally ready to meet someone who can deliver and meet your relationship needs. Then you will be available to date!

Pets

Don’t do this to your cat, it could upset him.

What makes cats unhappy?

Cats are among the most popular pets in the world. This is because they are adorable, playful, fun, and curious, as well as being low-maintenance compared to dogs and other animals. However, they are very peculiar and each cat has a list of things it likes and dislikes. Here are 6 of the things they usually hate.

car rides

Cats, like humans, have habits. They have their own territory and routines, plus they really hate it when changes happen. Also, the idea of a moving vehicle makes them feel confused and unhappy. However, there’s a good reason why cats don’t like cars. They have the tendency to experience dizziness and vomiting due to anxiety.

Spa

There’s an old tale about cats who hate getting wet. First of all, unlike humans and dogs, cats do not need to be bathed as they are good at grooming themselves. However, there are some breeds, like big cats, that love wet things. In general, a normal house cat will do everything possible to avoid water.

tummy rub

One of the areas that differentiate cats from dogs is the former’s hatred of having their bellies rubbed. Cats have a very strong instinct and the most vulnerable part of their body is their stomach. When a person strokes a cat’s belly, this triggers a defensive response, such as the cat may attack his hand with all four of its paws, claws out. The cat’s reaction is a reflex that occurs naturally, so it is better to avoid touching its belly.

Loud noises

When a cat hears a loud noise, it thinks danger is approaching, so it will trigger a fight response. Cats often run when they feel commotion, such as fireworks, car horns, and loud parties. Sometimes a cat can be startled by just a sneeze.

being brushed

Brushes are acceptable for cats that have been trained to tolerate them while still young. Otherwise, a cat will fight and try to run away when approached with a brush. Cats can be very fickle and will let people know if they like to be brushed or not.

aggressive caresses

Cats may want to show that they are tough predators, but deep down they are really soft and cuddly. When people pet your cat too aggressively, it gets angry and may even hit you with its paws or claws. Also, this will overstimulate your feline pet and trigger their fight response.

too much attention

Dogs always like to get attention from their owners, but on the other hand, cats like minimal attention. Cats can’t stand being followed, picked up all the time, or forced to endure constant petting. When cats want their owner’s attention, they meow continuously and rub their leg. There is no need to force this.

Skip Hire’s 7 Secrets to Success

Our research suggests that there are over 17 million containers rented out in the UK every year for domestic use alone! That’s a lot of jumping and if you’ve ever looked in the yellow pages you’ll see that there are plenty of jumping companies to choose from with no real way of knowing what kind of service you’ll get first. appears!

If, like us, you’ve ever hired a dumpster, chances are you’ve had a good experience with a professional, licensed waste collector with no issues or complaints.

Unfortunately, this is not always the case. If you called more than one company before hiring a container, you may have discovered that some of them:

– will not quote prices over the phone

– will not tell you what time you will be dropped off or picked up

– will only accept cash payments to the driver

You may have even had a bad experience where the driver refused to take your container without dumping some of the trash in your yard, demanded more money before taking it away, damaged your property by mishandling your wagon and the container. ..

This guide is for you – it answers all of the most common questions associated with container leasing so you know exactly what you’re getting into when you hire a container and understand the whys and wherefores involved in container leasing so you never have one. bad experience. …EVER!

1. How do I know which Yellow Pages jumping companies are the good ones?

Unless you personally know the company, you can’t do it. Any chump with a wagon and a bin can get an ad designed and printed to entice you to call them, but mostly it’s a lottery not only in terms of pricing and service, but also in terms of what actually happens to your waste, which is depressing. , few of us really think, or even care.

Jump companies are not really regulated at the time of writing this article. The good guys operate their own licensed waste transfer stations (regulated by the Environment Agency) and are members of the Waste Management Institute (a professional body that promotes education and raises standards in waste management).

The bad guys are just cowboys who often dump their waste and thus add to their council tax bill, because the municipality has to clean it up! (Flytipping now costs councils over £2.5m a year! That’s our tax money!)

did you know “Every 35 seconds someone, somewhere is tipping in the UK”

2. Why do jumps cost so much money?

No one claims that container rentals are cheap, but think about the overhead involved:

Skip Wagon £35,000+

Skip £500/each for standard buildersskip

Vehicle insurance £2000/year per vehicle

Civil Liability £1250/year per vehicle

Employer Liability £1250/year per vehicle

Skip Wagon Driver £25,000/yr

Fuel £20,000/year

Office staff £18,000/year per staff member

Landfill taxes of £18 per tonne, increasing by £3 each year until 2010, when they will remain at £35 per tonne.

Recycling costs Purchase cost of crushers, trommels, weighbridges, collection stations, etc. – millions of pounds sterling

Add up soon right? Getting rid of waste is not a cheap business, but it has to go somewhere!

3. Why don’t you drop off and pick up my container when I ask?

This isn’t always the container company’s fault: too many people don’t understand that hiring a container isn’t like hailing a taxi. Just think about what happens in the average day of the dump truck driver: we’re talking about heavy hauling here, and a lot can go wrong in a pickup or delivery that will slow down the entire schedule for the day, like a customer placing toxic waste. in a container, overfills it, or the driver receives incorrect delivery details from a customer.

We publish a national trade magazine for the industry called “The Skip” (www.theskip.net) and through it we are pushing for more container companies to incorporate new technologies such as vehicle tracking to improve delivery schedules and the acceptance of this type of improvement is increasing.

In the meantime, you have to be patient waiting for your jump because rarely is it deliberately bad customer service.

4. Why don’t you remove the bin if the trash is right over the fill line?

It’s not that the dump truck driver is unreasonable, it’s the law! They are legally required not to carry unsafe cargo and sadly many people order smaller containers than they need to save a few pounds. Our advice: order a bigger container than you think you need because you will always fill it up, just don’t go overboard!

5. What really happens to my trash when it’s taken away?

If you’re not asking this question, you should be. Landfill space in the UK is running out fast. It is estimated that by 2010 there will be virtually no landfill space left in Britain and the government is increasing the landfill taxes that waste management companies have to pay each year. The best container companies are investing heavily in new plants and technology to the point that many of them are recycling over 90%! Using these companies will eventually lower prices and greatly increase recycling rates, something we should all be interested in.

The bottom line is that the cheaper the container, the less likely it is that the waste will be managed responsibly.

6. Why won’t my local container company accept a credit card or tell me prices over the phone?

This is mainly a historical thing. Most container rental companies have evolved over the last 25 years from construction and demolition companies, and the traditional way of doing business is by issuing invoices or cash. Also, many companies still charge for waste removal by the ton and don’t always quote an exact price because they don’t know exactly how much it will cost them to dispose of it until it arrives.

7. Why am I quoted so many different prices for the same service from different companies?

The answer is in the question: you don’t get the same service from different companies! You get different levels of service from different companies. Most of the time, you get what you pay for. After you’ve had a bad experience, you’ll wonder if saving £20 was really worth it by choosing the cheapest you could find.

In addition, there are other factors, such as the prices of jumping permits. All container companies are supposed to tell you that you need a permit if the container is going to be on a public road. These permits are provided by the local council; sometimes the company by law has to sort it out for you, sometimes you will have to go directly to the council.

The variations in the price of jumping permits across the UK are staggering – some councils charge nothing and issue them the same day, others charge £70 and make you wait weeks before issuing them.

At the end…

Up to you. You now know just about everything you need to make an informed decision about which container rental company to use.
