Biography of Mahendra Singh Dhoni-A:
Mahendra Singh Dhoni {Nicknamed “Mahi”} was born on July 7, 1981 in Ranchi, Jharkhand. Dhoni is the current captain of India’s One Day International (ODI) team and Twenty20 (T20) team. Born to Mr. Pan Singh and Mrs. Devaki Devi, he has a sister, Jayanti, and a brother, Narendra. Mahendra Singh Dhoni completed his studies at DAV Jawahar Vidya Mandir, Shyamali Ranchi.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni-Cricket Style and Story:
Dhoni excelled at badminton and football while at school and was subsequently selected to play these sports at district and club level. Despite being a goalkeeper for his football team, Mahi switched his interest to cricket and became a regular batsman-keeper. He is known as a flamboyantly flamboyant right-handed batsman with a right-arm medium bowling style. MSD made his Test debut against the West Indies at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, on December 2, 2005. Here is an excerpt from his early cricket profile: Playing in the second Test against Sri Lanka, he made his first half a century in just 51 balls. During India’s tour of Pakistan in January 2006, he scored his first Test century on just 93 balls, a crucial century that helped India avoid follow-up, in the second Test in Faisalabad. He also scored 69 fast and aggressive runs against the West Indies, in the first test in Antigua, and finished the series with 13 receptions and 4 hits. As of October 2008, he had achieved a spectacular score of 1,418 runs in 29 tests, including one century and nine half-centuries. That also included 68 sacks along with 14 stumps, averaging 33.76. His highest score at the current level is 148.

In 2008, Chennai Super Kings signed Mahendra Dhoni for $1.5 million, making him the most expensive player to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the inaugural season, in which he led his team to the final against Rajasthan Royals. In his fourteen T20 matches he has scored 295 runs with a best of 73 not out, and as a wicketkeeper he has dismissed 3 players at this level. In 2009, the Indian captain topped the list of the 10 highest-earning cricketers in the world compiled by Forbes.

In his cricketing career, he has received many national and international awards, including the prestigious ICC ODI Player of the Year Award {2008-09}, which also made him the first Indian player to achieve this feat, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award and the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian honour, in 2009. In 2009, he became the highest ranked ODI batsman on the ICC Ranking List. He was also named captain of Wisden’s first-team Dream Test XI in 2009. Mahi topped the list of the world’s top 10 earning cricketers in 2009 compiled by Forbes. He was subsequently selected as the captain of the ICC World Test and ICC ODI teams for 2009.
