Just ask: if you don’t ask, you won’t get

Just ask! You have to ask what it is plain and simple. Walk into a McDonald’s without asking for your order and you will starve. Asking is the key to success in all businesses. Ask, ask, ask! Why is it so difficult to ask for your promotion, ask for the sale, ask for the date, ask for the discount or ask for more business? Why are you afraid? Is it the fear of rejection? The fear of hearing no, looking silly, or anything else in your head?

If you don’t ASK, you won’t GET. Even the Bible in Luke 11: 9 and Matthew 7: 7 says ask and you will receive. Asking is the key to realizing your vision. You need people to help you keep going. How will they know how to serve you if they don’t know what you want? Again, going back to McDonald’s, if you don’t order a burger, you won’t get a burger.

Don’t assume you will get a no. Take the risk of asking for exactly what you want. Think about it. If you are asking for something, it is because you do not have it. You don’t have what you want and that’s why you are asking for it. Now if you don’t ask, it doesn’t really matter because you don’t have it. If you ask and it’s a no, it’s the same as not asking anyway. You don’t have it yet. You are in the same position. You don’t lose because you don’t have what you want. But if it’s a yes, you win. Pretty simple.

Asking shouldn’t be difficult. Order things every day at fast food restaurants, stores, over the phone, through text messages, and online. People ask you for things. Fast food restaurants try to sell more stuff all the time. Do you want fries in that order? You say yes, they make more money, you say no, they still make money. You’ve spent your entire life asking you to apply that same principle to your business.

5 principles of Just Ask

1. Ask as if you expect to get it

Have a positive expectation. Ask as if it has already been given. Be like a child asking for gifts from Santa Claus. They think it will be under the Christmas tree. Children believe they will get what they ask for. If not, they ask for something else. Ask as if expecting a yes.

2. Suppose you can

Throw the word I can’t. Negative assumptions will prevent you from asking. Hope you can get the sale, updates, help, and discounts. Don’t assume against yourself.

3. Ask someone who can give it to you

Please rate the person you are asking. Who has the authority to make the decision? Requesting something from someone you are not authorized to give is time consuming and will destroy your trust. You need to know what needs to happen, who can give it, who needs to speak to do it?

4. Be clear and specific

If you go into a dealership and say sell me one because they will ask you what year, make, model, color and how much you want to spend. Or they will sell you the most expensive vehicle because you only ask for a “car”. The wave request gets wave results. When requesting a raise, be clear and concise.

Don’t ask like this: “I want a rise”. I’ll give you a 5 cent raise

Ask like this: “I want a raise of $ 300 per month.”

When it comes to getting things done, don’t say it early or when it’s convenient. Give a specific date and time.

Do not tell “I want to spend time with you next week.”

Say “I’d like to go out to dinner on Saturday night. Will that work for you?”

5. Ask repeatedly

It is necessary to ask insistently. People will say no. Rejection is a myth, so leave it behind. Do not give up. Someone is going to say yes. Why will they say yes? Because you are persistent. When you keep asking even the same person over and over again, you might get a yes on a different day, they were in a better mood, they finally need what you have to offer or new data to help them say yes.

A statistic from Herbert True, a marketing specialist who teaches at the University of Notre Dame, says that 94% of salespeople quit after the fourth call. But 60% of all sales happen after the fourth call is made. Just ask! Become an Askhole.

Start now

Conclusion exercise. Make a list of the things you want. Next to each item write how much it will cost you NOT to order it. What is your fear? Write down the benefits you will receive by asking. Then go after him. Just ask! If you don’t ASK, you won’t GET.
