In this article I am going to teach you how to generate targeted traffic using forums.

Forum marketing can be accomplished in five easy to follow steps.

1. Find the right forum for your market

It is really important that you know where your target market is located. Whatever your chosen niche, there will be a forum. If there isn’t, you may be in the wrong niche. Why would I say that? Because the competition is your friend. It shows that a market is healthy and hungry. People are willing to spend money in that niche to solve their problems.

If you don’t already know what the popular forums are for your niche, just Google “your niche + forum” and a list of forums will appear in the search results.

2. Hang out in your niche forum

You need to know what questions people are asking. What problems do people have? In short, you need to know how you can add value.

You have to start getting involved and helping people. Answer people’s questions. DO NOT send them a link right away or try to sell to them. That’s the worst thing you can do and it’s spam to get kicked out.

3. Fill in your signature

Most forums allow you to put a link in your signature. So you’re not directly spamming or sending people a link. Just like writing articles, if you like the value and advice I give you, you can sign up for my list. But it’s not on your face. The choice is yours.

4. Write valuable posts and interesting thread topics

In addition to directly answering people’s questions, you can also start discussions or ask open-ended questions to get people to interact.

I like to write articles on forums. Short informative and interesting training pieces that help people overcome a specific problem.

If you combine that with caring and helping people, it won’t be long before you start getting noticed for all the right reasons.

You will also start building your expert status at the same time. If you know what you’re talking about, of course.

However, the same goes for any other traffic generation strategy. It doesn’t take five minutes. Don’t expect to see immediate results. You need to focus on this strategy and give it a chance to hit the ground running.

5. Give and you shall receive

This is a very true statement in forum marketing. The more helpful and selfless you are, the more people will start to care about you. They will start to want to know more about you.

Now they ask me if I have a product, a course or any training that I can offer, so they can get more information. It’s a great feeling when people start approaching you instead of having to chase them down and almost force them to take a look at your sales page.

That is when you know that you are giving much more than you are receiving and giving more value.

This of course is the way it should be.
