Halloween of a western gunslinger

America is famous for its tradition of the western gunslinger. Legends abound surrounding western gunslinger figures such as Buffalo Bill (Cody), Jesse James, Wild Bill Hickock (real name James Butler), and Wyatt Earp.

Buffalo Bill is said to have killed 5,000 buffalo to fulfill an order for meat to feed workers on the Kansas Pacific Railway, but he is probably best known for his Wild West Show.

Jesse James was famous for leading a gang that usually robbed banks, trains, and stagecoaches for profit and not caring who they hurt or killed in the process.

Wild Bill Hickock was famous for such feats as being able to part the hair on a man’s head with a bullet, gunning down two men as they ran in opposite directions, and other somewhat embellished tales of daring and marvelous marksmanship.

Wyatt Earp was the lawman for the Kansas border towns, but best known for his part in the OK Corral shooting. He later went on to run a salon that catered to those tempted to travel to Alaska during the Gold Rush and eventually turned to prospecting.

If you love Wild West tales and want to emulate one of your western gunslinging heroes, what better time to do it than Halloween?

Outfit yourself in a western gunslinger costume complete with long dark brown coat and brown vest with engraved buttons, red bandana and holster. Complete the outfit with jeans and cowboy boots and accessorize with a cowboy hat. Oh, and don’t forget the gun in your holster, of course.

Alternatively, if you’re looking more of the bounty hunter type, get the long black coat and vest or how about the wandering gunslinger of the west poncho, vest and shirt? You’ll need a hat and rifle to match these, as well as jeans.
