Victoria Falls – The largest waterfall on Earth!

BASIC FACTS

Victoria Falls is on the Zambezi River, on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe in southern Africa. They are one of the Great Natural Wonders of the World.

At a mile wide and 400 feet high, they form the largest vertical sheet of water in the world.

They were “discovered” by David Livingstone in 1855 and named after Queen Victoria.

Before that, they were known locally by a more romantic name: Mosi-oa-Tunya, or “Thundering Smoke.”

The falls are part of two national parks, the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park in Zambia and the Victoria Falls National Park in Zimbabwe, and are one of the top tourist attractions in southern Africa.

They are also on the UNESCO world heritage site.

HOW TO GET HERE

Fly from Johannesburg Airport to Victoria Falls Airport (Zimbabwe) or Livingstone Airport (Zambia).

Both flights last about an hour and a half. Both airports are about a 20-minute drive from Victoria Falls.

Most flights leave Johannesburg early in the morning, so you’ll need a hotel at the Johannesburg airport to spend the night before.

If you have the time and courage, you can travel overland on a “Safari” from Cape Town. This can be a fabulous way to see Africa, but the quality, safety, and price of these trips vary wildly.

WHEN TO VISIT

Victoria Falls enjoys a mild, dry season from June to August.

Then the temperature rises steadily until the rains begin in mid-November. Then it’s hot, wet and humid until the rainy season ends at the end of April. If you don’t like heat and humidity, avoid the rainy season!

It is also very hot here just before the rains start. Late October/early November is known as “suicide season” with temperatures often in excess of 40 degrees!

The falls are at their strongest during the March and April floods, but the immense amount of spray obscures the view and can get you very wet. For a smooth and pleasant visit, come between June and September.

VISAS

Visa regulations change in BOTH Zimbabwe and Zambia almost daily.

Plus, Victoria Falls is right on the border, and you’ll want to see it from both sides.

I would advise you to get multiple entry visas for both countries before embarking on your trip.

MONEY (ZIMBABWE)

The Zimbabwean dollar is volatile and exchange rates can fluctuate alarmingly from one moment to the next.

By far the best currency to use in Zimbabwe is the US dollar.

Sterling and Euros can be used, but the exchange rate is low.

Traveler’s checks are a waste of time on the streets, but they can be used to pay for excursions.

Basically, you need to have US dollars (cash) to change to Zimbabwean dollars, preferably in smaller bills. South African Rand and Botswana Pula can be exchanged as they are regional hard currencies.

Warning!

It is illegal to change money on the streets of Zimbabwe.

If you are caught, you will be arrested and prosecuted. If someone on the street offers to exchange dollars with you, walk away! It doesn’t matter how good your rate is!

As of this writing, the government has closed all exchange offices, so the only place to legally exchange money is at a bank. The exchange rate at banks is only a fraction of the street (black market) rate, but at least it’s legal!

Ask your tour guide or hotel manager for the best banks to exchange money. And don’t change too much at once: the Zimbabwean dollar is worthless outside of Zimbabwe.

You will need US dollars in cash for all major purchases, including admission to Victoria Falls National Park.

Finally, never use a credit card in Zimbabwe for anything!

You will be charged a fortune for this privilege, and you could end up paying several times the cash price!

MONEY (ZAMBIA)

The Zambian currency unit is the Zambian Kwacha, which is divided into 100 Ngwee.

Banknotes are issued in denominations of K10,000; 5,000; 1,000; 500; 200; 100 and 50.

There is no limit to the amount of currency you can bring into Zambia, but you must declare it when you enter the country.

Most visitors will find the exchange rate to be in their favor. US dollars, sterling and euros attract good rates at banks and exchange houses. Traveler’s checks (US dollars) are widely accepted.

Entrance to game reserves, etc. You can only pay in Kwacha.

Most hotels, restaurants, and large stores accept credit cards.

Most of the larger banks will advance local currency against a credit card.

Standard Chartered and Barclays banks have ATMs that accept Visa cards for cash.

Tipping is not recommended in Zambia. A service charge is included in the bill.

Haggle over prices at local markets, etc. it is perfectly acceptable.

HEALTH

Take a course of malaria tablets before visiting the Victoria Falls area, just to be on the safe side.

CRIME

Most of the people you meet here will be wonderful.

And they are willing to promote this area to tourists, so crime is usually very low.

But please don’t tempt fate by flaunting your superior wealth.

Leave your Rolex and diamond tiara at home, or at least keep them at your hotel.

Remember: this is an area of extreme poverty.

You must, you must, you must visit Victoria Falls! It is an unforgettable experience!

anime that shocked the world

Anime and Manga began humbly as a Japanese imitation of American comic strips, which became the books we know as Manga. Soon enough, technology evolved, anime followed, evolving from short graphic novels to serialized TV shows, movies, games, and music. As anime caught on in the rest of the world, people started to notice a little more about this silent genre from the land of the rising sun. Over the years, there have been exceptional anime that have caught everyone’s attention, fans or not.

MARKET SHAKERS PART 1:

Pokémon, for better or worse, has become a household name.

The franchise began as a humble video game based on the hobbyist pleasures of game designer Satoshi Tajiri. Tajiri liked to collect insects when he was a child and applied it to a game. With the help of renowned game creator Shigeru Miyamoto, the mastermind behind hits like Mario and Zelda. In 1998, American kids were crazy about Pokemon Red and blue (or in Japan Red and green) which allowed players to collect and train different types of creatures known as Pocket Monsters. The game has since been adapted into a series, which became a huge hit in US markets. Soon, kids across the country will be collecting not only games, but also toys, trading cards and battle cards, and books. Card tournaments were great and the rules were easy to understand. The boys would fight officially or just at home.

When The TV series was launched in 1997 it quickly became extremely popular, the kids loved it! Nintendo’s stock was soaring, but soon the series would find itself in trouble. Originally created as a one shot series that would conclude with the main character Ash Ketchum (Satoshi in Japan) succeeding in the Pokémon League. However, the runaway success

On December 16, 1997 around 6:00 PM (18:30) Japanese time, the episode known roughly as Porygon Electric Soldier aired in Japan with initial fallout. About 685 children were rushed to the hospital suffering from epileptic seizures, convulsions, dizziness and even blindness. Although hindsight shows that there was a lot of hysteria associated with the events, the incident remains entrenched. The seizures caused by this episode were parodied by The Simpsons in the episode “Thirty Minutes Over Tokyo” and South Park in the episode “Chinpokomon” After the episode, the series went on a four-month hiatus to reorganize. In addition, broadcasters made more efforts to ensure that something like this would not happen again. While Porygon Electric Soldier remains the most infamous of the banned episodes, it wouldn’t be the last.

The episode beauty and the beach (Holidays in Archipelago)It was originally banned due to the idea of a swimsuit contest, and the character of James, cross-dressing in an inflatable bikini with oversized breasts, as well as an offensive song known as “The Best At Being the Worst”. The legend of Dratini it was banned due to its heavy gun violence and gun-related danger. After the attacks of September 11, 2001 Tentacool and TentacruelWith The Tower of Terror we are taken out of the rotation. The episode “A Scare in the Air” was changed to “Spirits in the Sky” (although it should be noted that all episodes were animated long before 9/11).

holiday hi jynx it was withdrawn due to accusations of racism associated with the character Jynx. The more we discuss, the better. is banned in Aruba, Greece, Italy, France, and the United Kingdom, likely due to the adult content of the episode.

Despite the controversy it has faced over the years, a show cannot be sustained. Today it has run for over 500 episodes and has spawned 14 feature films and shorts, making it the longest-running animated series based on a video game. If you need more proof that the series is still a global phenomenon, consider the fact that Pokemon Black & White sold 1 million units in 1 day.

In the late 90’s Pokemon opened up the land for a number of other series like Digimon, monster rancher and medabots; shows still fondly remembered among their fans. The games continue to delight players new and old, regardless of age. Through controversy through critics, the series remains on top of the world. Today Pikachu has become the most recognized and iconic figure in video games. In the ’90s, anime was still a niche market where purchases were limited to expensive imports. For many anime watchers today, Pokémon is fondly remembered as an entry series and arguably started the process of growing Japanese media into the Western market.

What is Google Ads and 7 benefits of Google Ads

Google AdWords is the foundation of Google, where promotions are offered to customers to promote business products and services. The current advantages of Google AdWords are that it works on brand permeability and you get faster results. In the long term, with marketing shifting from traditional to digital, an increasing number of businesses have moved to the web. This has made the web exceptionally littered with extraordinary contests. Apart from businesses, even buyers are gradually relying on the web to decide their purchasing options. Thinking about the previous idea, it is essential for companies to remove the mess and connect with the interest group. In this way, Google AdWords is the one stop fix that helps businesses communicate with their ideal interest group immediately and deliver the ideal results.

Benefits of Google Ads:

  1. Create brand awareness:

Previously, brand awareness followed a technique for the visually impaired, which is promoted in newspapers, billboards, radio and television ads. This methodology would have yielded results for offline bookmarks, however, supported B2B articles in general, as broadcasting advertising messages to the crowd is not convincing and also not an opportunity in the pocket. Digital advertising, particularly Google AdWords, has altered the way brands promote. With Google AdWords, brands can promote from the crowd when they research the ranking of their articles in the web index. Advertisers can also increase their audience size by targeting people on different sites across the Google Display Network. Therefore, brand awareness is one of the most well-known advantages of Google AdWords.

  2. Instant Results:

The perviousness that businesses get on Google is considerably more important when it comes to generating deals than any other medium. In the web search tool, companies have a great opportunity to appear before people precisely when they are paying special attention to their article or administration. In some cases, the competitors are high ranking. That is the reason why natural positioning in web indexes is a monotonous task. With proper development of sites and valid approved sites benefits through backlinks can bring great results naturally, however time is reserved. With Google AdWords, businesses can get results much faster. There is also a contest here. Be that as it may, the encouraging news is together with the amount offered, the quality score of the keyword related to the ad, the information of the presentation page and the expected CTR decide the situation of the promotion. So, with legitimate Google AdWords enhancement coupled with the required bids, you can get extraordinary ROI.

  3. Be in the best results:

We do our best in SEO to rank in the top results, but some big companies and industries have great content and we can’t beat them, but AdWords gives us a really terrible option to beat their rivals. Suppose you have a strong rivalry with one of your specialty brands and you speculate that they share a large share of the planned deals. With Google AdWords, you can choose “Target Outrank” scheduled bidding procedures to change your bid to beat the predefined rivalry at closing. Outperforming your competitor’s ads can be referred to as one of the most fundamental advantages of Google AdWords.

  4. Increase Ad Visibility:

Running Google Ads helps increase ad visibility and increases the quality of your reach audience. With AdWords, it is feasible to offer promotions to the crowd that is most like making a purchase. One should choose programmed bidding systems like Ecpc (Enhanced Cost Per Click), in which the bid will be changed depending on the above transformation information and the combination of other data from those converters like area, device, model, schedule, time, the day of the week and so on

  5. Select Audience and Specific Strategies:

Probably the most recent update to Google AdWords explicitly for search ad campaigns is insight into customer information such as age, gender, parental status, behavior, interests, etc. We should consider a time when you are an in-house planner and your target customers are people who own a house or intend to build a house. So you should aim for a

    • age between 30-55+ age audience,

    • behaviors such as those of businessmen, doctors, civil servants, professionals who work

    • Interests like, interested in buying a house, house, flat, villa, land.

    • And many more factors like locations, location, keywords, bid strategy, etc.

  6. Remarketing audiences:

Remarketing is one of the main advantages of Google AdWords. It’s a well-established truth now that remarketing is perhaps the most effective way to impact customers to navigate through the business channel. It doesn’t stop there, remarketing ads can be modified based on customer usage of the site. To simplify this customization for large sites, you can choose dynamic remarketing ads, in which promotions will update based on the page visited by the customer. Impressing the crowd with the best arrangement that they would like is one of the best advantages of using Google AdWords.

  7. Greater audience reach:

When it comes to AdWords, advertisers typically choose broad match keywords to ensure promotion is delivered to important keywords. With AdWords reporting, one can cunningly use expansive match keywords. In this way, you will broaden your search query to customers who have visited your site with the certainty that their search will be related to your article. This helps expand your search options to get back into the crowd. After going through all these points, you can summarize the benefits of Google ads as it helps to rank your website at the top without SEO, provides instant results, increases brand awareness, ads visibility and increases commercial sales.

Content writing: tonality matters

How often do you consider tonality one of the most vital aspects of your writing? Perhaps, you may not have paid attention to this, the fact is that the voice of your writing is just as vital as making it informative for your readers.

I have my own personal experience that most written content fails to entertain readers because it doesn’t sound reader friendly.

When you write content, you must be careful with the tonality. Whether you’re a novice or seasoned content writer, things matter when the tone of your writing isn’t friendly. You may have noticed that most bloggers do not have a large readership, as their blogs sound esoteric and hostile.

The tone of your written content (if you write professionally) should be professional, direct, and personable. Don’t write with the impression that only moderately literate readers read articles on the web. In fact, there are many educated readers reading and evaluating your writing ability. They also analyze the voice of your written content.

Informative and sweet-toned writing agreements at the discretion of your potential readers.

If you include profanity in your writing, you’d better turn it down. This is because not all readers, especially those hungry for quality reading, appreciate this type of writing. You may have seen a lot of written content full of these types of words. You like them?

Why don’t you imagine yourself in the shoes of your potential readers for whom you write? That will help you understand the voice of your own written words. That would also help you make the necessary rectification to the contents, if they sound meaningless and unfriendly.

It is also recommended to read the finished article. This is very useful as it will help you understand the tonality of the article.

How to ensure that the tone of the written content is friendly or unpleasant?

Proofreading is an essential tool to ensure the nature of the tonality of your written content. It can help you spot tonality and grammatical inaccuracy (if any) in your written content.

Words (written or spoken) always say something. A writer should be familiar with contextualizing sentences that sound meaningful and friendly. If they sound vulgar or irrelevant, you will give your readers a bad impression as a writer. You will probably claim your credibility as a writer to your potential clients as well.

Therefore, do not underestimate the value of tonality when writing. This is very important. Good tonality means that you are respecting your readers while sharing your ideas with them.

Relationship

Men entangled in mothers: Why do some men only have casual sex?

For some men, casual sex is something they will engage in from time to time, while there are others who only have casual sex. When it comes to the former, this could be something that occurs after a man has just been in a relationship.

Going out with another woman, more or less immediately after breaking up with your girlfriend, can be a way to feel better. So it is unlikely that they will see this woman as a potential partner.

A short term option

As soon as you start to feel better about yourself, you may find that you are no longer interested in this woman. However, this is not to say that he will cheat on the woman, as he could have made it clear from the beginning that he is not looking for anything serious.

What you have said to the woman, along with your behavior, will make it clear what your intentions are. Then the woman will be totally in agreement with what is happening, or she will be going against her true needs.

another result

There is, of course, even the possibility that it ends up becoming more, although this was not the intention from the beginning. This could be seen as a sign that the man’s emotions are out of control, which is why he goes against his true needs.

Another way of looking at it would be to say that since this is a man who is used to being in a relationship; It’s not a surprise that he wants more. Just having sex with a woman will not be enough for him.

an empty experience

So, for a short time, having casual sex may be what feels comfortable, but, as time goes on, this will start to change. So, in the same way that you don’t want to eat fast food all the time, you also don’t want ‘fast sex’ all the time.

Your sexual needs may be met by having casual sex, but the rest of your needs will end up being overlooked. This man may have had a fair amount of casual sex during his early years, or he may not have been interested in him back then either.

A very different experience

For other men, casual sex may be all they are interested in. Then it won’t matter what a woman is like as a person, since she won’t have the need to experience anything else.

When a man can relate to this, he may discover that he has never been in a relationship with a woman. Or if he has, this may have been a relationship that was anything but fulfilling, eliminating any desire for another.

a need

This man may wonder why other men have relationships, believing they are not worth the effort. He can even go further and say that women are only good for one thing.

Because you only want sex, it could show that you are not even aware of your emotional needs. If you are not in touch with the rest of your needs, there will be no reason for you to see that you are overlooking certain needs.

All together

When it comes to the men you hang out with, chances are most of your friends are the same. Then each person will support what the other person is doing, without giving them any reason to change their behavior.

Plus, casual sex is a normal part of the modern world, so they don’t need to think they’re doing anything out of the ordinary. There are, for example, numerous dating apps that people can use to connect with another person.

a closer look

It could be said that there are a number of reasons why a man would only want to have sex and has no interest in anything else. And one of the reasons why this may be is because of how his relationship with his mother was at the beginning of his life.

This may have been a time in his life when his mother was unable to respect his boundaries and used him to meet her own needs. Then there would have been a reversal of roles, he becoming a father and his mother a daughter.

A surrogate spouse

His father may have been physically or emotionally unavailable, causing his mother to seek him out to meet her emotional needs. It would not have been possible for her mother to realize that he was not an extension of her.

This would have prevented him from getting the attunement he needed to develop boundaries and a strong sense of self. It is very likely that his mother’s attention has caused him to feel suffocated, powerless, trapped, and experience shame.

a defense

What he felt at this stage of his life will not have disappeared over the years; it will stay inside of it. Therefore, if he were to share more than her body with a woman, and he really became emotionally attached to her, he would trigger all these feelings again.

Naturally, this would make him feel overwhelmed, taking away his interest in sex altogether. Then it won’t matter that the woman is not her mother since part of him will perceive her that way.

Awareness

Their priority will be to prevent these feelings from coming up again by preparing them to deny their need to really connect with a woman. Thanks to how they live their lives, they may rarely get in touch with how they felt as children.

If a man can relate to this and wants to change his life, he may need to seek outside support. This is something that can be provided with the help of a therapist or healer.

Venice Italy: Our first day

After spending many hours planning our vacation in Italy, I couldn’t wait for my day in Venice to start. We arrived late in the afternoon knowing that by the time we checked into our hotel we wouldn’t have time for any real sightseeing. After settling in, we walked around the area and chose a nice little restaurant for dinner. After which we went back to the room and double checked our plans for the next day and then settled in for the rest of the night.

The next morning we started with breakfast at the hotel and we were on our way. Since we took a little walk the night before, we knew that the water bus stop was only a couple of blocks from the hotel and it was the only part of planning the trip that I didn’t know much about. The total length of the city of Venice is only about 2 miles and we were heading to St. Mark’s square which was about a mile away so it didn’t seem far but as we had never been on a water bus before, we couldn’t guess. the time it may take to arrive. It turned out that it only took about half an hour to get there, however the ride was quite interesting as the boat zigzagged from one side of the Grand Canal to the other so it was important to know which side of the canal you wanted to go to.

Once we got to St. Mark’s Square (Piazza San Marco), we walked around a bit, took some photos, and decided which of the 3 main sights we planned to see first. We decided to go up to the top of the tower in San Marco square and have a view of the city. At first I thought we were going to have to hike to the top and was surprised to see an elevator there. The journey only took about a minute, but it seemed longer because there are no windows to look out on the way. Once at the top I realized that we had had a beautifully pristine day and without a speck of mist in the air we could get some great pictures. We took our turns looking at each side of the tower in view which was spectacular and took some great photos. I looked closely at my watch to see the time because the huge bells in the tower were still striking the time and I for one did not want to be at the top of the tower when it rang.

After going down from the tower, the next place to see was St. Mark’s Basilica, which is the most famous of the more than 400 churches on this small island. Walking into the church I was a little surprised by the lack of light, which I thought made it a bit difficult to see the paintings and other art in the church. Another thing that stood out to me was not being able to bring any personal property into the church, I understand no cameras, but you can’t bring a backpack either and I don’t remember if a large purse was allowed.

After we finished at the church, we took some time from sightseeing to have lunch at a nice place around the corner, a bit expensive for me, but we were on vacation and planned to go to some expensive places and more. Reasonable places the rest of the time.

The last sight we had planned to see this day was the Doge’s Palace and I suggest it to anyone going to Venice as a must see. Upon entering the palace, the first thing you notice is the ceilings, all very ornate with carvings and paintings everywhere. It seemed to me that there must be 50 or more rooms in the palace and each one had a different pattern carved and painted on the ceilings.

Most of the rooms were large over 30 x 30 and some rooms seemed small compared to the rest, but each one had paintings or sculptures. There were a few rooms we found particularly interesting one being two very large rooms next to each other with a giant 24 hour clock mounted on the common wall so you could see the clock from both rooms each room had at least 120 x 75 feet.

The most impressive room in the palace was a common meeting room, which I believe was used as an audience hall and for town meetings. I’ve seen very large rooms before, but this place was huge, at least 250 feet long, 120+ feet wide, and over 60 feet tall, with no center support beams of any kind, the entire ceiling was free-standing. I couldn’t imagine how they were able to build such a span over 400 years ago without steel.

By the time we finished seeing the Doge’s Palace, it was mid-afternoon around 4, so we still had time to see more, so we walked to see the Bridge of Sighs, probably the second most famous bridge in Venice. After which we headed back to the hotel for a short nap before going to dinner.

We were staying at a hotel about 100 feet from Rio Tera San Leonardo, which is one of the main streets in Venice and will take you to the train station after a few street name changes. Being so close to a major street it was easy to find a good place for dinner, after which we took a nice walk to see our little part of Venice in the evening before going to bed.

I can’t believe from what I’ve read that most people only stay in Venice for one day and I recommend anyone planning a visit to Venice to stay at least 3 days, there are too many wonderful things to see for just stay for a day.

Legal Law

Why would anyone become an artist?

The contemporary artist faces enormous odds of achieving great recognition or monetary success. This is just a fact of the world we live in. Art jobs generally do not pay high wages, and the freelance artist will almost certainly suffer a financial deficit. Even artists who sell their work and get recognition tend to suffer. Society does not see the independent artist as worthy of a large income. The artist is not considered as important as a doctor or a lawyer or even a garbage man. After all, garbage workers earn comfortable professional-level salaries. In our society, we pay people based on the respect we have for them and the level of importance we place on their work. This means that artists are not considered vital.

Of course, this is not true for all artists. There will always be a handful of living artists to whom we place great value and respect along with financial rewards. These artists will be promoted by the institutions created for the exaltation of art, and their work will become part of our social conscience. It is not these artists that I am referring to, but the millions of independent artists (musicians, writers, artists, painters, sculptors, etc.) who will live and die anonymously.

So, against these odds, why the hell would anyone become an artist? If you are a father and your son tells you that he wants to be an artist, how would you react? You’d probably say something to the effect that while it’s good to make art, it’s not a good career choice. I would probably kindly encourage them to take some art courses, but stay focused on getting into law school. I can hear these conversations taking place all over the world. A similar conversation took place between me and my parents when I told them I was majoring in art, so I speak from experience.

However, the very expensive art schools are full of students eager to pursue art as a lifelong career. Every major university in America has an art department and art majors, as well as music departments, writing departments, and theater departments. Presumably, those students graduate and go out into the world as artists. At least for a while, as many of them eventually succumb to the realities of our culture and take up more profitable professions. Still, they carry their art education with them, and I am sure that education supports their life choices and well-being.

Art, you see, is a vocation. He calls one to follow him, and he does not know the economic conditions of our time. Art only knows that it is irrevocably fixed to the human spirit. According to the philosopher Jean Luc Nancy, “beauty is the radiance of the true” (1.) In his essay, Nancy refers to art as the expression of beauty and, therefore, the embodiment of the true. This truth is the truth of which Aristotle spoke and is the essence of what is good and meaningful for humanity. It is what all human beings should achieve in terms of their lives. That is why art calls certain people, because it is a call to the splendor of the true, and it is essential to humanity.

Look back in the history of the human race and you will see that this is so. The Lascaux cave paintings were made between 15,000 and 13,000 BC. The oldest cave paintings date from 30,000 BC. The Lascaux paintings are huge and took many years to complete. Archaeologists have discovered holes in the walls that they believe once supported beams for scaffolding. They have also found old lamps for burning animal fat and bowls for mixing pigments. All of which means that these early artists required help. One artist would have had to paint while others moved scaffolding, mixed pigments, kept lamps burning, and collected food. This is a lot of work considering the harsh conditions of the time and the emphasis placed on survival over culture. For whatever reason, these people felt that making art was just as important as surviving. They were willing to set aside precious energy and resources to engage in this art-making activity. There must have been some innate calling in them to make these paintings, a need that went beyond the desire to decorate.

This is not the only time this has occurred. Time and time again, when humans are in their worst conditions, they manage to make art. During World War II, art was made in concentration camps and prisoner of war camps. The artists took pieces of charcoal or a piece of pencil and created images. Some of them were made to document his suffering and some were made as a means of mental escape. These artists put themselves in terrible danger to make this art, and it took the energy out of their survival strategies.

One such artist was Benjamin Charles Steele (1917). Steele was stationed in the Philippines in World War II. He survived the Bataan death march and the internment at Cabanatuan. (This was the largest POW camp on foreign soil; 9,000 people lived there, 3,000 Americans died there. The death rate was 38%). Steele survived dysentery, pneumonia, blood poisoning, and forced labor. When he was assigned to Tayabas Road Detail, Steele worked in the jungle without food or water and was the only one of fifty people to survive. At some point, Steele began drawing pictures of his fellow inmates as an act of honor to them. In her essay on Steele, author Penny Ronning states that “Without formal art training, Ben began drawing on whatever scraps of paper he could find images of what his eyes had seen and his mind worked overtime to process. These drawings were Ben’s style of honoring his fallen comrades and recording their experiences. At the risk of dying if found out, Ben continued to pay tribute by secretly drawing the bravery of every soldier facing the most horrifying human cruelty. Sadly, all but two of the Ben’s drawings were lost on a transport ship” (2)

Following the heroism of Steele, as well as that of many other artists who have come before and after him, having been forced to make art despite the circumstances; therefore, it must be concluded that art is somehow linked to the most elemental parts of our humanity. It is linked in a way that goes beyond social conventions. It is rooted in the depths of our souls; down there with our instincts to survive, procreate and exist. It must be on the same level as the ant’s instinct to dig or the bee’s instinct to build a honeycomb. The artist is forced to examine his world and try to explain it through his unique vision and his participation in life. As Carl Jung said:

“Every creator is a duality or a synthesis of contradictory aptitudes. On the one hand he is a human being with a personal life, while on the other hand it is an impersonal, creative process… The artist is not a person endowed with free will who seeks his own ends, but who allows art to fulfill its purposes through it. As a human being, he may have personal moods, wills and goals, but as an artist he is ‘man’ in a higher sense. -he is the ‘collective man’–one who leads and shapes the psychic and unconscious life of humanity. To perform this difficult job it is sometimes necessary for him to sacrifice happiness and everything that makes life worth living for the common human being.” (3.)

So, going back to the initial question: why would someone become an artist? Perhaps a better question might be, why would someone choose not to become an artist? It is a wonderful vocation that goes far beyond the ability of the artist to earn money or easily adapt to successful social conventions. It is a vital component of being fully human.

How to care for body piercings and side effect warnings

There are many different ways for people to express themselves. Of course, not everyone has the time and resources to create a giant marble statue or write a series of novels. For most people, self-expression can be something as simple as putting on a particular type of shirt or wearing an interesting hat. For some people, self-affirmation can go a little further than just accessorizing and can be a little more… permanent.

Part of the appeal of body art, such as tattoos and body piercings, is that they can declare a person’s sense of identity and point of view, even when displayed in the nude. However, between these two forms of body art, more people tend to get body piercings than tattoos; especially since piercings are usually easier to do than tattoos.

When it comes to the question of how to take care of body piercings, barring infection or any other kind of problem, it’s usually pretty easy. Body piercing side effects, on the other hand, can range from completely insignificant to excruciatingly painful. Of course, these depend on where the piercing will be located.

If you are willing to put up with the pain that can come with piercing and the healing process that follows, you can have piercings almost anywhere on your body. You can even pierce your genitals; if that’s the way you want to express yourself.

Not many people in Westernized societies are inclined to do this, but those who do often claim that the pierced areas enjoy increased sensitivity and that the sexual experience is enhanced.

Oh. OK.

It might be worth it for some people, but for many others, the incredible pain that, say, a Prince Albert or an Isabella might entail, there simply isn’t enough of a reward to outweigh the horror of having your sensitive parts stabilized with a needle. or a piercing gun. And that’s not even taking into account the recovery periods these piercings require.

On the subject of how to care for body piercings in these places, a Prince Albert, which is a man’s head piercing…man-bits, has a healing period of two to four weeks. The Isabella piercing, which goes through the shaft of a woman’s clitoris, lasts two to three months.

Of course, there are many other less sensitive places to get pierced.

The most common and socially acceptable places for people, particularly women, to get piercings are the lower earlobes. These spots are pretty easy to care for, and since earlobes are mostly fatty tissue with hardly any nerve endings, they barely hurt once the deed is done. Other common places to get a body piercing are the nose, lip, belly button, and eyebrows.

Regardless of where you want to drill that hole in your anatomy, once you do, you will need to be wary of any side effects of body piercing, such as swelling that might initially occur during the healing process.

When you get pierced, usually to make sure the hole created by the needle or gun stays put, a piece of jewelry is placed there to make sure the piercing stays put. This piece of jewelry is usually a stud or barbell, which you may need to replace from time to time, especially if the area around the piercing becomes too swollen.

Once your piercing begins to heal, a white or yellowish discharge could appear on your jewelry. If there isn’t too much pain or swelling, you don’t have to worry; this is a normal part of the healing process. However, if there is a lot of pain and the area swells up a lot, you may have a hand infection, and when this happens, it’s a good idea to get it checked out by a doctor.

To prevent infection and other problems, such as blood-borne diseases, from occurring, make sure you have your piercing done by a professional who uses sterile instruments and has good hygiene practices. You’ll also want to make sure your piercing heals properly by keeping it clean with soap and water (never alcohol or hydrogen peroxide; these can kill germs, but they dry out the skin and slow the healing process too) and take zinc and iron supplements, They will help your body heal more quickly.

Wherever you get your piercing; Whether it’s something as innocuous as pierced earlobes or something as radical as Isabella, you’ll always need to be careful not to suffer from side effects of body piercing such as infection, excessive swelling, or allergic reactions. You will have to learn how to care for body piercings.

Simple tips to fix your roof leak

If you need to fix your leaky roof, we have some simple but important tips for you. It is important that you locate and fix any leaks to prevent further damage to the ceiling wood. Keep reading to know more.

Identify roof leaks

Fixing roof leaks is much easier than locating one, since leaks tend to develop far from their original location. However, it is better that you detect roof leaks as soon as possible. Once identified, you can arrange the repairs yourself or find a good professional. Here are some tips to help you find leaks.

• Take a closer look at the inside of your attic and the outside of the roof for inspection.

• Look for a hole between sturdy hardwoods.

• Look for loose nails and inspect the tiles.

• Look for the causes of cracks, gaps and holes during the day. If you are using an external light, make sure you check everything correctly. The flashlight must be bright enough.

• Check out the walls and ceilings for any watermarks.

Tips for detecting difficult roof leaks

  • After a rain, get a powerful flashlight and go into the attic to examine it. However, do not go through the roof. If it doesn’t rain, drop water on your roof to cause an artificial leak.

  • Now take a closer look at the rafters and roof deck above the wet spot.

  • Find out if there are any wet spots or stains on the roof deck or joists

  • Mark the position of the leak on your roof

Solutions for a small leak

After detection of the leak source, you may want to take steps to fix it without wasting time. Although you may need professional help to fix some repairs, minor leaks can be fixed with DIY methods. Follow the advice given below.

  • You can use a special primer and patch to repair small holes in your ceiling.

  • Fix your asphalt shingles or they can cause rainwater penetration which can cause further damage

  • Unlike regular asphalt, laminate shingles are much wider and may require longer fasteners or nails for added security.

  • Ideally, it’s best to fix leaks when it’s raining, since you’ll have a harder time detecting leaks once the rain stops.

  • It is easy to repair dormers and walls with weather stripping as needed. However, if a siding is missing or rotten, you may need to install a new part.

Home insurance and roof leaks

In some cases, your homeowners insurance may provide coverage for repairs to your roof, such as missing shingles after a severe snow or wind storm. In other words, if the damage is caused by an unavoidable event, your insurance provider may be able to provide you with compensation. However, if the loss occurred due to your own negligence, you will not be able to go to your insurance provider. For example, if you don’t take steps to keep your roof, you may not get compensation.

So be sure to follow these tips to fix your leaky roof.
