The many colors of jasper

The word Jasper means, “spotted or mottled stone”, comes from the Greek word iaspisand latin iaspidem. Jasper is one of the oldest known gemstones and was very popular in ancient times. He has been written about in Greek, Hebrew, Assyrian, Persian, and Latin engravings, as well as in the Bible. But in those ancient times, what was known as jasper was a totally different stone from what we call jasper today; it referred only to the transparent green varieties. Jasper is one of the birthstones for the Virgo sun sign and the mystical birthstone for the month of October. There are many varieties and names for jasper; they refer to their patrons or their places of origin.

Jasper is like an opaque, fine-grained variety of Chalcedony. Some scientists place it in a group by itself within the quartz group due to its grainy structure. It contains eighty percent chalcedony and twenty percent opal, quartz, and rare minerals. Solid colored jasper is very rare; Most jasper is opaque and can display many different color patterns. The foreign minerals it contains form its colors, streaks, spots, and appearance. There are more than fifty varieties of jasper, but the most prized jasper gemstones have a combination of red and green patterns. Jasper colors include: red, brown, pink, yellow, green, gray/white, and shades of blue and purple. It has a dull sheen, but develops a nice shine when polished. Jasper is at a 6.5 – 7 on the Mohs scale.

Jasper is typically found in the seams and crevices of volcanic rocks, often together with chalcedony and agate. Jasper veins occasionally occur in igneous rocks, for example in granite. All jaspers are formed in a minimum of two steps. The tiny particles first settle in layers, then the layers are bound together with a liquid silica solution. Jasper can go through many more steps in his training. Many jaspers are named after the region where they are found or their color patterns. Some names include: Picture, Red, Kambaba, Landscape, Biggs, Frog Skin, Zebra, Mookite, Brecciated Mookiate, Brecciated, Picasso, Artistic, Exotica, Succor, Wilow Creek, Dalmation, Cobra, Ghost’s Eye, Dallasite, Dendrite, Stone Canyon , Plume, Bamboo, Lizard Skin, Polychrome, Desert, Ocean, Orbical, Poppy, Montana Bark, Snake Skin, Owyhee, Fancy, Spiderman, Starburst, Leopard Skin, Rainforest or Rhyolite, Morgan Hill Poppy, Burro Jasper.

Jasper is used in the elaboration of all kinds of decorative objects as well as in jewelry. It is a beautiful gemstone that many people like to collect. This is due to the different color patterns it can possess.

Tiny used cars are all the rage

The demand for smaller used cars is extremely high, which is not the norm. Most people go for the larger used vehicles which tend to be considered safer with lower car insurance rates. However, this is not the case for the current market.

However, it is not too surprising for experts. They compare this increase in small used car sales to the summer of 2008 when gas prices skyrocketed. Sounds familiar for summer 2018, right?

The consequences of this change in the market are that car companies are reducing their production of new and small cars. Low supply increases demand because of the small number of small, new vehicles that are available, which means customers have to bid more to get the vehicle.

That’s how the market moves, as used car sales rose 2.2 percent, a 13-year high. That also means that the prices of small vehicles must increase, in fact, by 3.9 percent. It’s just the way the market plays.

There has also been an influx of off-lease cars flooding the market which, as the other numbers show, off-lease cars are very easily absorbed. People seem to be looking for used cars for basic transportation. Another reason is that hurricane and flood victims from previous storms are using their insurance money and it’s all they can afford.

There are also other money saving benefits of buying used cars, here are a few.

When buying a new one, your car can depreciate up to 50% in three years, which means losing a lot of value. When you buy used, you don’t have to worry about the cost of depreciation.

More value for your money

Without having to worry about depreciation, you leave more room in your budget for a better computer or even a better model than you would if you were buying new.

Only 350 different models are offered on the new car market each year, but there are many more options on the used market, which is good news if you can’t find your dream car on the new market. This means you don’t have to settle or pay more just to settle for a vehicle you’re not entirely happy with.

lower insurance

Your car insurance is based on the value of your car, so it’s less expensive with a less expensive car. With new vehicles, they are more expensive, so insurance is more expensive, except then you also have to deal with depreciation over the next three years, no matter how well you maintain your vehicle.

Cheaper registration fees

Depending on your location, older vehicles generally cost less to register, which is definitely a plus.

If you’re considering buying a used car, especially a small one, now is the time to do it!

Content Marketing: A Closer Look at Theory and Application

Content marketing is often considered the next big thing in internet marketing. Business owners who are aware of the risk will likely be surprised, because any hyped-up business solution should not be easily accepted without deep understanding.

Therefore, before getting into the actual development and implementation of a content marketing strategy, it is crucial to have well-defined business goals and the purpose of content marketing, especially for branding and positioning your business. Once you do this, you will be able to easily recognize the goals of each step and make your decisions and applications.

Content marketing, as the name suggests, is marketing anything through the use of content. In a more comprehensive definition, this type of digital marketing is all about creating videos, blog posts, images, infographics, webinars, podcasts, and other forms of media that engage people and create a positive association with the brand. .

In a business context, content marketing is a strategy for building lasting relationships with your target market. Conventional advertising strategies are conceptualized to attract viewers using images of customer value. On the other hand, content promotion deepens the discussion on customer needs and thoughts through the value-driven platform. In a top-down perspective, content marketing is the creation of various customer engagement platforms that could help meet their needs and distribute information about your products and services. Your blog posts, videos, articles and images become the face of the business, showcasing your authority and personality and drawing customer connection in the process.

After understanding the theoretical basis of content marketing, the next thing to do is take a closer look at the application of this theory. The implementation of the content strategy is a matter of finding, forming and developing relationships with customers through different platforms. Marketing research reveals that customers spend about 60% of their time on this platform before even contacting sales, and content is important in providing answers to their questions and concerns.

Blogging is a very important tool for content promotions. Around 80% of digital marketers running a blog received higher ROI for their inbound marketing campaigns. Blogging covers the development and tracking of visual and textual articles, created to provide value to customers. In addition, bloggers must also respond to comments within the blog and from social networks.

Other marketing platforms have their own responsibilities. The channels you use will depend on your budget and resources. The main platforms are videos, articles and webinars. But your marketing guarantees depend on your niche, available resources, and business goals. Regardless of your industry, it’s essential to base your strategy on solid marketing.

Before getting into the details of planning and implementation, it is crucial to establish the foundation of any marketing campaign to define the focus. Without a thorough understanding of your business goals and your available resources, any type of online marketing will only fail primarily due to lack of direction. Before you write your first article or start shooting your videos, get your team together and lay the groundwork for content marketing.

It’s a Jersey Thing: 5 Unconventional Hockey Jersey Styles

Hello everyone,

As some of us know as hockey fans, we definitely have our favorite team and we definitely have our favorite jersey.

The way some of us see or wear our t-shirts is sometimes very different between us.

Some of us are very happy to have received our favorite team’s home jersey with no name on the back. They simply show their support for the team they cheer for. Some of us want the authentic cut jersey that players wear on the ice; that is if you are a hardcore fan.

No matter how you use it, no matter when you use it, all that matters is that you’re doing it for the game you love and nothing else.

From time to time, you can see a t-shirt and think; “Hey, that’s an interesting design.” Someone might post a photo of him on the internet and it could create a bit of a stir on social media. Some of you can stop scrolling and take a good look at it and give it a quick like. Some of you may do a little more digging and discover that the t-shirts are for a charitable cause. Some of these t-shirt designs are great and some are downright ridiculous, but they’re worth a laugh or an amazing reaction. Many of these jerseys are made for promotional purposes and auctioned off for charity, and that is another reason why hockey is one of the best sports in the world. Sometimes, however, the cause goes beyond the colors of the shirt. There is definitely a cultural symbolism with some of these shirts. Some of which have caused some controversy.

Military-inspired camo t-shirts:

Many NHL teams are keen to wear these military-inspired jerseys during warm-ups to support and recognize their national armed forces. Fans have polarized opinions about these jerseys, but they are not meant to promote style, but to promote a good cause. Some people have said that these t-shirts have no purpose and don’t help the military, BUT if you care how it helps the military, then you need to know where your money is going before you buy military-inspired products.

The MSE (Monumental Sports & Entertainment) Foundation recently raised $46,000 during a Washington Capitals home game on February 5, 2016 by auctioning Washington Capitals military-inspired jerseys. Funds purchased are used to help families of soldiers serving in the military, soldiers with PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), and war amputees. The shirts were autographed and sold during the event. These shirts weren’t just sold to raise funds; Equipment such as disks, helmets, clubs and others were also sold to raise funds for this honorable cause.

It is primarily at these private auctions that money is raised for these kinds of charities. Most official sports retail outlets that offer military camo jerseys are only sold for profit, unless otherwise stated, the proceeds from each sale go to a charity. Some retail stores sell these shirts, but others don’t because they don’t want a controversial image of wearing military fashion for a quick profit. The camouflage design is not only used on t-shirts, but also on caps, hats and t-shirts. Soldiers who served in the military do not like the fact that outlets use military image for profit because it is a weak expression of support for the armed forces and also the image of the armed forces is used for promotional purposes so that corporations can make a profit.

Star Wars themed t-shirts:

It’s easy to admit that these t-shirts are ‘out of the box’ in terms of t-shirt design. For Star Wars fans who love hockey, here are some of the most epic jersey designs ever. The Vancouver Giants and Saskatoon Blades of the WHL (Western Hockey League) each had a Star Wars night in honor of the biggest blockbuster of 2015; Star Wars – The Force Awakens.

Star Wars night for the Saskatoon Blades was held on November 28, 2015 and the entire Saskatoon Blades team wore these jerseys for their home game against the Edmonton Oil Kings. The shirts weren’t just meant to lure nerds to hockey games, they were also for charity. The jerseys worn by the players were signed by the players and auctioned off after the game. Proceeds from the auction went to the Saskatchewan Food Banks.

The Vancouver Giants also had their own version of these beautiful Star Wars jerseys, but unlike the Blades, the Giants went over to the “dark side.” The Giants wore them for their home game on December 4, 2015 against the Kootenay Ice. Just like the Blades did, the Giants team also signed these jerseys and auctioned them off for charity. Proceeds went to Shriners Hospitals for Children.

LA Dodgers Pride Night T-Shirts:

The Los Angeles Kings have a ‘Dodger Pride Night’ once a season. It is based on the partnership agreement between the Los Angeles Kings and the Los Angeles Dodgers, a Major League Baseball team. It is both a promotion and a charitable cause for the two major sports teams. Fans who attend this annual event not only watch the game, they get an LA Kings-themed baseball and a chance to win in-game prizes.

Dodgers-inspired hockey sweaters used for warm-ups were signed and auctioned off after the game. Proceeds went to the Kings Care Foundation.

Flint Firebirds “Tropics” T-Shirts:

Based on the 2008 Semi-Pro blockbuster, these jerseys are an excerpt from the Flint Tropics, the name of the basketball team in the film. Since we’re talking about the Flint Firebirds here, wouldn’t it be convenient to have the “Jackie Moon” approved Flint Tropic hockey jerseys for a promotional event?

That’s exactly what the Flint Firebirds did when they hosted a “Flint Tropics Night” in Flint, Michigan. The Firebirds organized the Owen Sound Attack on February 13, 2016 for the event. It was a huge highlight for the Firebirds as they were having a horrible season dealing with numerous ownership disputes and many lost games. The jerseys were auctioned off after the game for charity and it was a fun night for the Firebirds and fans regardless of the outcome of the game.

St. Patty’s Day Hockey Jerseys:

Like military jerseys, St. Patrick’s Day jerseys are used by many NHL teams for pre-game warm-ups, but without controversy. It’s a huge promotion as St. Patrick’s Day is hugely popular and if you haven’t already guessed, pre-game warm-up jerseys are signed and auctioned off for charity by many teams. Whether it’s an NHL team or a junior league team participating, it’s a very popular event in Canada and the United States. It always produces great results because it’s a great excuse to celebrate spring and a great reason to order a few pints of Guinness for you and your friends.

How could anyone hate St. Patrick’s Day?

Pickles – Science in your kitchen

You can turn almost any cooking recipe into a science lesson, maybe even a science project for school. Let’s look at fermentation in making pickles. Salinity, pH, oxygen and temperature are variable factors that determine the outcome of your pickles.

To make pickles, you need to create the right conditions to encourage “good” bacterial growth, while slowing down the growth of “bad” bacteria. The good bacteria digest the sugars in vegetables to create lactic acid. Lactic acid gives pickles a distinctive tart flavor and discourages the growth of bacteria that will spoil pickles.

Salinity (salt concentration) is an important factor in the pickling process. If too little salt is used in the brine solution, harmful microorganisms will grow fast enough to cause spoilage. With the right concentration of salt, the lactic acid bacteria have an advantage over the bad bacteria. Lactic acid is produced, creating flavor and lowering the pH of the solution. This more acidic environment keeps bad organisms at bay. Too much salt prevents lactic acid-producing bacteria from growing and cucumbers do not pickle. Some yeasts can also grow faster, consuming lactic acid to raise the pH and allow spoilage.

It is vital to keep oxygen away from fermenting vegetables. Oxygen encourages the growth of bad bacteria and promotes spoilage. Also keep pickles and brine covered during fermentation.

Lactic acid-producing bacteria are happiest at 70 to 75 degrees F. Higher or lower temperatures can give spoilage bacteria an advantage and ruin your pickles.

An interesting science project might be to vary the above factors to see how the pickling process is affected. Of course, do not eat any results that can be spoiled.

Google sets the standard for a happy work environment

Google is the place to work according to Fortune magazine, which listed the top 50 companies to work for. Google is listed as a top competitor for most features, including unusual perks, cafes, health coverage, and work environment. Most of the other companies that made it into the top 50 only excel in one or two areas. This is the second year in a row that Google has managed to capture the number one position in Fortune’s assessment of companies.

Standard benefits offered by Google include 100% healthcare coverage and on-site day care. Additionally, new moms are entitled to 18 weeks of paid maternity leave while dads get 7 weeks. Some perks that aren’t quite standard include 17 cafeterias that offer free food to all employees.

The rule at Google is that no staff member should be more than 100 feet from a food source. That’s not to say they only have access to junk food vending machines, or that cafeterias offer fast, easy, fat-laden meals. Chefs of the highest caliber prepare a variety of meals, with unique variations on everyday meals. The mac and cheese, for example, comes with wild mushrooms and truffles.

They also have a keen interest in environmental conservation and have a department dedicated to research into “green” technologies. Google goes to great lengths to be as energy efficient as possible, which is a mindset that is encouraged in its employees. In the spirit of energy conservation, they subsidize staff members who purchase hybrid or electric cars to the tune of $1,000. Employees based in California are entitled to special discounts if they install solar panels on their homes.

Google is also quite unique in that it has a policy that allows passionate animal lovers to bring their beloved pets to work. The obvious proviso is that the various dogs, cats, and a variety of others must be reasonably well behaved and house trained. It has been reported in The Inquirer, UK, that the pet policy is under review, after a misbehaving pet python created chaos and terror at the New York branch.

Bingham McCutchen only made it to 41st on the list, but he is the number one firm when it comes to high salary packages. The law firm is known for hiring promising law school graduates for a whopping $160,000 a year. Their legal secretaries, whose importance is often overlooked by other firms, earn an average of $69,000 a year. This is higher than what some managers earn at other companies. The average salary for Bingham McCutchen staff is $211,017 per year.

eBay San Jose campuses have special de-stress areas for employees who need a little serenity and relaxation. Rooms with comfortable pillows and tatami mats are ideal for midday prayer and meditation, so staff can return to their duties refreshed and revitalized.

Camden Property Trust gives a 20% discount to employees who live in the company’s apartment complexes. Staff members going on vacation can also use fully furnished apartments for just $20 a night.

Nike is one of the most socially conscious companies to work for, as employees in the Portland office volunteer as Portland Mountain Rescuers. They respond to emergencies at any time, no matter what they’re doing or how important it is. When prospective employees are interviewed and warned about the possibility of their work being interrupted by mountain searches, the standard response is “which is more important, saving lives or selling shoes?”

The one thing that all the companies on the top 50 list have in common is that they all realize that a company is only as good as its employees, so they go to great lengths to ensure staff happiness and satisfaction. Staff turnover is low, while job satisfaction is high. Who wouldn’t want to work for a company that rents out an entire movie theater for the day so their staff can see a blockbuster movie on its release date?

How to put on makeup: 8 essential tips

Are you confused about how to put on makeup? Do you struggle when trying to look your best? Well, if you have these problems, maybe you need some advice? In this article we will share 8 helpful tips so you can look your best every time.

Makeup tip #1: Cleanliness is vital

Before you start applying any makeup, it’s vital to make sure your hands are clean. Dirty hands will contaminate your face with bacteria, oil dirt, or other debris. This will often lead to acne, especially in teenagers. Another benefit of having clean hands is that it will help ensure that your makeup goes on smoothly.

Makeup Tip #2: Start with a primer

After making sure your hands are clean, the first step is to start with what’s known as a primer. Since there are so many different types of primers, it’s important to select one that enhances your skin’s natural beauty. Some types of primer can be used to tone down skin colors. While other types of primers can be used to treat skin if it is dirty, oily or acne prone. Whatever type of foundation you decide to use, it will be the first thing you apply to your skin. As well as helping to correct minor skin issues, a good foundation will also help your foundation stay on better.

Makeup Tip #3: Brush quality counts

When applying makeup, it is important that you use a good quality brush. While there are many cheap brands of makeup brushes out there, many don’t apply makeup as well as a good quality brush. It is also essential that you clean your makeup brushes regularly. Don’t be fooled into buying an expensive cleaning solution, shampoo or mild hand soap works just as well and is much cheaper. Signs that your brush needs cleaning are when you notice that it doesn’t seem to be working as well as when you first bought it.

Makeup Tip #4: Wear Natural Light

The best type of lighting to apply makeup is natural light. The advantage of natural light is that it shows you how your makeup really looks on your skin. Different types of lighting can distort the look of your makeup. So, to achieve the real look of your makeup, make sure you apply it in natural light so you can see what it really looks like.

Makeup Tip #5: Skin Care

It is essential to take good care of the skin. When your bare skin looks great, so will the makeup that is applied to the skin. Effective skin care can be as simple as making sure to wash your skin thoroughly at least twice a day, apply a moisturizer, and if you’ll be going outside for an extended period of time, always apply a good quality sunscreen . The key point here is that the better your face looks before you put on makeup, the better it will look with the makeup on.

Put on makeup tip #6: lip balm

Before applying any lipstick or lip gloss, it is important that you first prep your lips using a lip balm. The purpose of lip balm is to protect your lips from chapping or peeling. A secondary function of lip balm is to behave as a primer for your lipstick or lip gloss and keep it looking fresher.

Makeup Tip #7: Eyeshadow Colors

When deciding which color of eyeshadow to use, it’s important to remember that you want colors that make your eyes pop, not match your natural eye color. For example, if your eyes are green, then don’t select a green eyeshadow, instead choose a brown or black eyeshadow color.

Put on makeup tip #8: keep it real

Many young girls and even some women make the mistake of thinking that the more makeup you can apply, the better you will look. In fact, when it comes to makeup, less is more. What this means is that putting on too much makeup can make you look even less attractive, or put another way, wearing less makeup can give you better results than wearing too much makeup. So when in doubt, always decide to wear the minimum amount of makeup you need to look attractive.

By applying these simple yet effective tips on how to apply makeup, you will find it much easier to get the results you want with much less effort and frustration.

9 essential elements for a cockatoo to roam freely in your house

If you let your bird spend TONS of time out of its cage, like I do with my Goffin’s Cockatoo, Boo, you’re going to need a few things to keep your sanity. I use the term “barnyard cockatoo” because Boo spends most of his time outside of his cage and is pretty much a “house bird” (except he goes into his cage when I’m away for an extended period of time or when he’s in his sleeping cage at bedtime). The phrase also makes me LOL. The items on my list seem to fall into the home cleaning and upkeep categories.

Here are some products I own and use, or wish I had:

  1. A good vacuum, for carpeted areas. Right now, I’m using a Eureka that clogs every five minutes. Somehow it does the job. I’m thinking the Hoover F5918-900 SteamVac Spinscrub Pet is going to be my next purchase, although Dyson is hands down the leader in pet vacuums. I’ve had a lot of luck with shop vacs in the past, but they’re pretty ugly…and if you’re like me, you won’t want to put the vac away because you’ll only be using it. again in a few hours.
  2. A good floor cleaner, not carpet! I just use a regular $10 mop from Walmart with something to mop up.
  3. As for cleaners, it’s important that they’re non-toxic, especially if your bird is likely to put its mouth where you’ve cleaned (unless you’re deep cleaning and scrubbing the pristine corners of your home, and even then, better prevent to cure). I’m a big fan of the Poop Off, especially the one with the nifty brush cap. I find it works great on carpets and floors, and the brush bottle is always out in case of a quick cleanup, which was needed about every 20 minutes until Boo decided to potty train.
  4. Pet dig up! Boo is afraid of random inanimate objects, so placing a “Scared Boo” where I don’t want him to chew always works…for at least 20 minutes. Boo is quite stubborn and quickly realizes that NOTHING in the house will eat or hurt him (the downside of raising him so well), so this doesn’t work out so well. The best way to prevent damage to my home is to not have what I don’t want him to chew on out of his reach. This was VERY hard to do when he was a baby going through his wire-chewing stage, and that was one of the rare bad behaviors where I actively punished him (since he could die if he encountered a live wire). Unfortunately, I made the mistake of punishing him with a spray bottle and to this day he hates being sprayed or misted (but at least he learned real quick not to chew on my electronic wires!). I haven’t found a commercially available parrot deterrent that works yet, but I just found Bitter Apple for Birds and I’m going to give it a try. Pepper solutions don’t work and do the opposite of making you chew MORE, because you love spicy flavors. Oh, and the tin foil worked for about a day, until he found he could find the tasty door frame by ripping it off.
  5. Newspaper. I put this under where Boo likes to sit a lot. It’s free, if you get the documents from the local cafeteria community. If you’re worried about newspaper on the floor looking like your house is a birdcage, use clear plastic (to make it look like you’re one of those rare people who keeps everything preserved) or carpet scraps (which can look white trash, so especially don’t use it if you’re in a mobile home). I find that putting old bills and mail where Boo likes to poop can feel like they’re there “accidentally” (which gives the impression that I’m atotalsluggard). Unfortunately, there is no aesthetically pleasing solution to bird poop.
  6. A Parrot Playstand is essential. Currently, I am using a pendant that I put together from a wire curtain hanger, a rope hanger, and a rope swing. After being afraid of the wire hanger for a whole day, Boo decided this was the place to perch, and now he sits in the spot that looks the most uncomfortable and chews on the bumps on my textured ceiling. Hanging game stands are NOT recommended for aggressive or fearful birds. I’m dying for a Manzanita activity tree. Being able to carry the playstation around the house with you is almost a necessity, and it will help you control the screaming, the amount of poop you have to clean up, and the destruction your pet bird can cause. Of course, it’s important to train your bird to stay in the game stall, otherwise you’ll have wasted a lot of time and possibly money. What’s worked for me and Boo: Make it the ONLY place you give your bird “treats” (except his cage), and give him TONS of attention when he’s playing on the game booth. Having a play stall, even an extra cool and expensive one, is no excuse for giving your bird less attention; it is only a preventive measure of destruction of houses.
  7. Things that are “okay” for your bird to destroy, possibly disguised as household items. Commercially available bird toys are great, but can be expensive to replace. Parrots are supposed to destroy toys, and it’s as good for your sanity as crossword puzzles are for people, so don’t complain about the price! If you noticed the toilet paper roll on Boo’s hanging hanger…it’s a really cheap fun toy. Boo also likes cat balls and take-home paper boxes with treats inside. Anything that is fun to scoop or mash food is usually a hit in my house. One of Boo’s favorite pet shop toys is a parrot piñata – he loves to chew on this relatively affordable toy!
  8. Treats are also essential, especially if you want your bird to stay at his play stall or not chew on other things in your home. Boo loves pasta, pizza, and eggs. I’m kind of a health freak, so I often eat from my bowl of soy milk and whole grain cereal. Since the vet recently reprimanded me for going on a 70% parrot diet (for good reason, as there has been a ton of recent research on the dietary needs of parrots and cockatiels), I have been buying more than its yummy from the pet section instead of the human section. Lafebers Parrot Avi-Cakes are Boo’s all-time favorite, and are good for hiding in paper towel tubes and other places to encourage foraging and keep him entertained. Treats also often function as toys.
  9. …that’s about it, as far as the actual products I use or want to use with my Goffins Cockatoo! The final essential to owning a pet bird is bonding with your companion and paying close attention to him so he thinks you’re the guru at what’s fun and popular. Taking time to redirect destructive behavior to more acceptable objects is a must, as is convincing your bird that his toys and treats are MUCH cooler than the boring pens, computers, and electronics you have elsewhere in the house.

A “box is not a box” when moving your valuables

What is a REAL moving box? Did you know?

The term “moving boxes” has been overused to the point where it has lost its meaning for most consumers. Most people associate moving boxes with any old box they can find lying around the house or sold in stores. After all, if the store calls a checkout a moving checkout, then must that be correct? Wrong! Most people unknowingly believe that a box is a box and a moving box is any kind of box you move around with. Although this is logical, it is not true and has caused unnecessary damage by moving in the United States.

The term moving boxes actually refers to a type of box that is specifically manufactured and designed to be used for moving and storage. These boxes are the industry standard with professional movers and are usually not even sold in most retail stores. Certified moving boxes have a seal that certifies them as certified, providing the highest level of protection for your valuables when they are moved or stored.

  • It’s ironic that many people spend extra money buying third-party moving insurance in case their belongings are damaged, yet store their belongings in whatever old box they can find. There is a better way. The use of high quality certified boxes is the best prevention to reduce or eliminate movement damage.

How are certified moving boxes different from regular moving boxes?

They are designed not to compress when stacked on top of each other on a moving truck or dolly.

The first thing that makes certified moving boxes different is how the box is made and designed. Certified moving boxes are manufactured and designed to be stacked on top of each other on a moving truck and dolly without being compressed; therefore with permanent pressure in bumpy environments. (Moving trucks have a lot of potholes)

  • Certified moving boxes are designed NOT to compress when stacked on top of each other in a moving truck, dolly, or in your home, where regular boxes are not designed to be stacked and have a much higher chance of crushing your boxes. valuable items.

Box stacking will occur throughout your move. For example, movers will stack your moving boxes on a dolly, then stack them on your truck, and then stack them at your house until you unpack them. Then, long after the move, many people will continue to stack their boxes in a garage or storage unit. Therefore, it is very important that when they are stacked they do not compress.

Industry standard size to help you pack and protect your valuables

The second aspect that differentiates the certified moving box is the dimensioning.

The moving industry recommends the industry standard size for certified moving boxes. Your entire house must be filled with these boxes of different sizes. Using industry standard sizes makes it easy to stack the boxes on a truck, so the mover won’t have to make as many trips (this will save you money on the cost of your move) and the mover will still be faster because the boxes are meant to be stacked on top of each other.

The four sizes of certified moving boxes are:

1. Multi-Purpose Moving Box (1.5 Cubic) – The most important box in moving. Most of your home should be inside this box. It’s big enough to hold a lot of belongings, but not so big that you overpack the box and make it too heavy to carry around.

2. The Kitchen Moving Box (3.0 cu. ft.) – Ideal for pots, pans, and small appliances.

3. The pillow-type moving box (4.5 cu.m.): For large, lightweight items like pillows only; otherwise the box is too heavy for carriers to carry.

4. The Closet Moving Box: This box has a rod inside and is great for hanging clothes inside.

Special labeling on the box

The third aspect of what makes a certified moving box different is the labeling system.

Certified moving boxes have labels where you can tell what’s inside the box and which room it should be placed in. (Note that some boxes are sold with labels that are not certified moving boxes.) If you don’t label your box, your moving company will only be able to leave all your boxes in your main room and you will waste time opening them. boxes, taking them to their respective rooms and organizing them. This can add 50% or more to your unpacking efforts.

  • When moving, it is important to label each box with the room it should be placed in and to indicate what is inside each moving box. This helps movers prioritize box stacking.

Who sells certified moving boxes? Most major retail stores DO NOT sell certified moving boxes. I imagine not, because these boxes are heavy and more expensive to buy and store than the light ones. Since most consumers don’t know the difference, most major retailers charge high prices for boxes that will provide little protection for your valuables when they are moved, they are not designed for this purpose, but still have signs on them calling them moving boxes.

Cell Phones in Schools – The Great Debate

With today’s technological advances making cell phones ubiquitous in almost every aspect of people’s lives, it’s no surprise that cell phones in schools have become a hotly debated topic. There are advocates on both sides: some claim cell phones are an inappropriate distraction during school hours, others accept students’ familiarity with them and use them in class. While the jury is still out, both sides have some intriguing points.

Mobile phone advocates say there are many benefits to using the devices in educational settings; some of these advantages include:

  • Parent involvement. Students can use camera-equipped cell phones to take pictures of projects they complete in class, such as group projects that use only class time. Generally, in these situations, students do not do any research or assembly of such projects at home, so parents cannot see the result of their children’s efforts in the classroom. Allowing students to use cell phones in this capacity encourages parental involvement in their children’s lives, as well as supporting their educational development.
  • Missing assignments. Teachers can enact a buddy system in which students email or text each other details of assignments their buddy missed due to absence. This will save teachers valuable time that they would have otherwise spent putting together makeup packages and instill a sense of responsibility among students for themselves and each other.
  • Take notes. Students who have trouble keeping up in class when taking notes can use their mobile phone’s camera function to take photos of notes and save them for later study and showing to parents/guardians as well as classmates that some of them have been lost. Teachers can also incorporate note taking into their buddy system for missing assignments, and allow students to send missed information during class time to absent classmates, and also allow them to receive such information if they are absent.
  • Real world tools. Cell phones typically have features like calculators, which most high school math classes require. Using your cell phone’s calculator feature can teach students the real-world skill of using what’s at hand to calculate math problems in their everyday lives.
  • Improving focus. Students with cell phones that have music capabilities and headphones may use them during homework periods or independent study times. Many students find listening to music to be a relaxing study habit, and studies of learning styles indicate that some students learn better by listening to music while solving problems or reading. Students who are comfortable while studying are more likely to study longer, more often, and produce more positive results than those who do not listen to music.

On the other hand, many believe that cell phones will only contribute to existing problems in schools, such as cheating, disrespecting teachers and staff, and instigating problems among other students; some even mention the possibility of using cell phones for illegal activities during school.

  • Unfaithful. The use of a cell phone, regardless of the age of the user or the location from which it is used, carries with it a responsibility. Some advocates of a ban on cell phones in schools claim that using a cell phone’s camera feature allows students to cheat on tests by taking photos of answer keys, test content, or answers on the test. examination of a neighbor.
  • Disrespect. Students can use their phones for all sorts of mischief in class, including using their audio recording feature to record teachers or other staff during lectures or other conversations without them noticing the recording. Students could then use those recordings to take the speaker’s words out of context and present them in a manipulative light.
  • inciting problems. Students may use their cell phones during school to cause problems among students and harass others. School-related violence and bullying cases are on the rise, and officials are already busy dealing with disruptive students and keeping order in their institutions; Allowing students to use devices like cell phones during school hours will make these problems easier to perpetrate and harder to control.
  • Illegal activities. Students may use cell phones during school to engage in unlawful activities such as placing or receiving orders to deal drugs, causing students to fight with each other, taking and placing bets on sporting events or other forms of gambling, or planning events. such as bomb threats and other security breaches.
  • Distraction. Nearly everyone in favor of banning cell phones in schools says that allowing them to be used in class will distract students from their studies. Features like Internet access and gaming capabilities are most often cited as the biggest distractions. While the Internet can provide legitimate research capabilities, video games do not provide any educational benefits.

Today there are schools that make use of both policies. Pasco County’s Wiregrass Ranch High School uses mobile phones in many of its classes, including English, math and social studies. Teachers allow students to use their phones to research literature and authors, calculate math problems, and take photos for class projects, among other tactics. Students in this district say they feel more respected and trusted than students in districts that don’t have that privilege, and recognize that devices can help them learn more about their world, both past and present. In the area of behavior management, teachers at the school no longer have to battle students on a daily basis to put their phones away or pay attention during class. Instead, they are integrating cell phone use into their lesson plans and students are more engaged during class and benefit. Students can go about their personal business on their cell phones before and after school, as well as during lunch and break periods, so personal distractions really aren’t a problem. Administrators recognize that some students will abuse and abuse the privilege. Rules, such as usage restrictions and removal of other non-cell phone privileges, are in place to discourage potential silly offers.

Most schools across the country have some sort of cell phone ban in place in their districts, primarily due to their connections to illegal activities and disruptions during class. Some cite security concerns, stating that student access to cell phones while on campus does not make them safer in the event of a violent event, even going so far as to say that they can complicate the work of emergency services in such a situation. instance. These schools also say that easy access to cell phones during the school day only increases rumors and makes bullying situations among students worse. As such, many of them enforce a “see it, we take it” policy and notify students and parents of the strict nature of such policies.

Some schools have begun to relax their cell phone policies, while others continue to maintain their bans, even tightening their rules prohibiting the presence and use of cell phones on campus. Both sides have their own clear reasons for maintaining their courses of action, and only time will tell which theory is more successful in educating students.
