The Difference Between Ceramic Tile And Dura-Ceramic Ceramic

The market for flooring materials has long been dominated by ceramic and laminate tiles due to their extraordinary durability and / or price. When buying flooring, there are a few options to consider before choosing what material to put under your feet. In addition to classic ceramic tiles, there are now Dura ceramic tiles, a newer material that is growing in popularity. But is it the right choice for your flooring solution?

Constructed from a polymeric resin-reinforced composite limestone base, the Congoleum Company produces Dura-ceramic as an alternative to traditional flooring options. The manufacturer claims that it can be used in the same way as ceramic tile, except as countertops or in a shower or bathroom environment. Some customers say it feels warmer underfoot than ceramic. It can withstand expansion due to changes in temperature and resists cracking, giving it an advantage over the hard but potentially brittle nature of ceramic.

Ceramic tiles, traditionally made from heated and cooled clay and sand, are a beautiful and durable option for any room in the house or for business. As a material it is smooth and non-porous, so it is easy to clean, does not easily harbor bacteria and does not absorb odors. It is completely natural and very respectful with the environment, it does not contain toxic substances.

Stoneware and ceramic can be colored with pigments, but the range of styles is limited, while Dura ceramic tiles offer a wider range of visual options. Both materials are durable, much longer than even heavy-duty linoleum, but Dura ceramic is reportedly more likely to chip from heavy impact. Both are easy to clean and will stay looking like new if laid, grouted and maintained. Neither type of tile responds well to vacuum beater bars, abrasive cleaners, or solvents and should be cleaned with the manufacturer’s recommended cleaners.

It’s hard to imagine anything better than a properly installed and maintained ceramic tile floor. While Dura ceramic tile is a modern innovation that has more visual appeal than its earthenware predecessor, it is often the most expensive option. Traditional ceramic is more flexible in its uses and is just as, if not more durable than Dura ceramic. If appearance is a priority, then Dura-ceramic may be the way to go when you have a specific color in mind, but dollar for dollar, true ceramic flooring is the way to go.

Home Kitchen

Points to consider when choosing bathroom and kitchen tiles

When it comes to planning, designing, and choosing products for rooms in a home, the kitchen and bathroom may require more careful planning than others.

After all, they are the most used rooms and, more importantly, the wet rooms in the house.

Even the slightest slip in planning these rooms could result in irreparable damage to the building’s structure, its walls, interior woodwork, and all nearby furniture and fixtures. These and the danger of leaks and fungus on the walls that make your house ugly and weak, force you to choose carefully the construction products used.

When planning wet rooms like the kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, and other wet areas like pools and ponds, it’s wise to make sure these rooms and areas have the best in tile, grout, faucets, and other plumbing.

When choosing tiles, whether they are bathroom tiles or kitchen tiles, the first thing most designers or home buyers look for is their appearance. The tiles should definitely reflect the taste and style of the person. They become your statement in life. The right type of mosaic sets the mood for you and your family. They emit the adequate energy you need during the day.

The next and most important thing to consider when selecting tiles is their functionality. The tiles chosen must be able to withstand conditions of heat and humidity, depending on the room in which they are placed, the climate of the place where the building is located, etc.

Ease of cleaning and a firm grip are two other important factors to consider when selecting bathroom and kitchen tile. Firm-grip or rather non-slip tiles are essential for kitchen and bathroom floors. But what do you check when buying kitchen wall tiles or bathroom tiles?

It is not the grip that comes into consideration here, but the ease of cleaning is of importance. Kitchen walls tend to trap a lot of dirt. Therefore, constant cleaning is necessary to keep the kitchen hygienic. Once again, the coatings, when placed in kitchens or bathrooms, must be able to withstand the heat and humidity to which they will be subjected.

Another factor you may want to consider when choosing kitchen and bathroom wall and floor tiles is their color. The right color sets the tone for the room. If rooms receive little natural light, a lighter tile shade will help make the room brighter. On the contrary, if a lot of strong natural light enters the room, the correct choice of tile color will help the room appear fresh and help reduce glare.

Let’s now look at some types of mosaics that you have available in the market as an option for mosaics.

Travertine tiles for bathrooms and kitchens – These generally come in colors ranging from creams to browns, all natural colors.

They also feel cool on a hot day and can also withstand the cold without cracking.

Slate tiles for bathrooms and kitchens – These are usually available in gray, but sometimes orange and black as well. Gray tile remains an extremely popular choice for wet areas due to its natural texture and water resistance capabilities.

Sandstone Tiles for Bathrooms and Kitchens – They have been a popular choice since ancient times as wall tiles. These tiles, with their natural hues, do not mind being exposed to heat for fear of losing color or developing cracks. However, being very porous, they are not waterproof and will need a proper seal.

Granite Kitchen and Bathroom Tiles – These are extremely durable but also quite expensive.

Limestone Kitchen and Bathroom Tiles – These tiles are very sturdy and generally come in light colors. They reflect light and are therefore cool even on hot days.

Soapstone tiles for bathrooms and kitchens: Water, acids or chemicals do not usually damage soapstone. These tiles are highly resistant to heat and are an excellent choice for wet exteriors as well as wet interiors.

In addition to natural stone, you can also choose porcelain or ceramic stoneware.

Porcelain tiles for bathrooms and kitchens: They are less expensive than natural stone tiles. They are also more resistant to water and have the ability to withstand very cold temperatures.

However, stains are used in porcelain tile making, so choosing a lighter shade tile would be best to ensure long-lasting color.

Ceramic tiles for bathrooms and kitchens: They are better suited for walls than floors because they are not as strong as other available flooring materials.

With so much to choose from, be meticulous in your research and identify the best tiles for your kitchen and bathrooms.

"The to-do list" for drafting IT-related contracts

A well-written IT contract is an insurance policy for an IT project. Anyone involved in the drafting and negotiation of IT contracts must follow a certain methodology to achieve the optimal result. Of course, the methodology depends on the type of IT project and the services provided. The drafting phase is the most appropriate time to adjust the contract in the best way. This can save money and help avoid further disputes when done correctly.

To properly adjust the contract, a good understanding of the technical and legal issues involved in the IT project and the kinds of issues that can arise during and after project implementation is required. Therefore, the contract has to be specific, not general. Many managers overestimate their understanding of the technical side of IT projects and the associated legal risks, often excluding technicians and legal experts from the writing. But this limits the ability to assess potential risks and address them in the right way at the right time.

First of all, don’t delay in getting started; Contract negotiations on IT projects take longer than you might think at first. Do not leave the drafting of the contract to the last minute. Contract problems multiply in the rush. Therefore, consider legal and technical risks at the contract design stage.

Second, set your goals. Do not try to fit all the contractual clauses perfectly at once. Use the ROI method to identify the parts of your IT project that are most critical and profitable for you. Once these parts are identified, describe them in the contract. It is always useful to have multiple versions of the same contract clause during negotiations. Your objectives must be defined in a way that is accepted and agreed to by all parties involved. For example, setting technical goals and applying specifications are crucial for service level agreements.

In IT contracts it is vital to check the parties that foresee the scope of the license or transfer of copyright in the created software. Software developers are interested in maintaining the necessary rights for software distribution because individual software, once created for a particular company, can easily be applied elsewhere and then marketed as standard software. On the contrary, the client who financed the software development very often does not want to leave any economic copyright to the software developer. One of the most important parts of an IT contract is the detailed description of the rights granted when using the software. In case of granting a license, you must check if the license is exclusive or non-exclusive, for a defined or indefinite period; as well as the territory it covers; how many users will be able to use the software at the same time; under what conditions the customer may transfer the software to third parties; whether the license entitles the customer to independently modify the software, etc. Here it is important to agree on the source code of the software, for example, to indicate whether the source code is part of the contract or not, because the further development of the software depends on it.

In addition, it is also very important that the contract clearly states the quality requirements for the software, warranties and liability, the duties of the parties in the software implementation process, project management methods, testing, resolution of disputes, payment terms, exit provisions, agreement. on the additional maintenance of the software, as well as the method of acceptance and transfer of the results of the intermediate and final work. By accepting the final version of the software, the customer must confirm that the software corresponds to the technical specification provided in the contract and works without substantial defects. After the signing of the acceptance-transfer act, the software cannot be rejected due to minor defects that normally always exist in the software. Before accepting final IT software jobs, it is advisable to agree on a specific period during which the final version of the software will be tested for functionality.

It is helpful for the software producer to reduce liability to the extent permitted by law. Generally, the liability is limited by a certain monetary amount and the loss that occurs only due to certain events. In the part determining liability, a laconic wording that the damage is compensated in accordance with the law may seem more beneficial to the buyer.

Still, parties often underestimate the contract-writing process in the hope that friendship can resolve all conflicts in IT projects. But life teaches us that when a conflict arises, the parties are more likely to rely on the wording of the contract than on oral promises.

Gaming

Programming, Coding, and Web Development Notebook Specifications

If you need to get a new laptop for programming or coding purposes and you’re not sure where to start, this short guide will help you find the perfect setup for your needs.

For web developers, there are two main paths to follow. If you are doing front-end web development, you will need a basic machine that can run a text editor and browser to check your progress. For back-end developers, things get a bit more complicated. You will need a laptop that can handle multiple tasks simultaneously, such as running a browser, a local server, and the code editor. These might not sound like a lot, but they require a lot of system resources, so make sure you pick a laptop that’s up to the task.

For game, 3D, or mobile app development, you’ll need a high-performance laptop that can render everything in real time. Consider buying a gaming laptop if you are going to do this type of work. Mobile application developers will often need to run a simulation of their application running on the mobile operating system, which can require a large amount of system resources.

Let’s take a look at some of the recommended specs for each of these types of development work.

Processor

The processor is the heart of your computer and by the number of cores and threads it has, it determines how many processes it can run well in parallel.

For front-end development work, you should be able to get away with a laptop that uses a dual-core Core i3 or Core i5 processor. Back-end and mobile app developers should aim for at least a quad-core Core i5 processor, with Core i7 being the best option.

RAM

The RAM or the system memory helps the CPU to process everything smoothly. The more you carry your laptop, the better. Front-end work involves about 4-8 GB of installed system memory, as you will probably use a code editor like Sublime Text and one or more browsers to verify your work.

Mobile, game and back-end developers should go for something with a little more power. The minimum amount of RAM should be in the 12-16GB range. This is to make sure that all your applications work together smoothly.

Hard drive or SSD?

Every laptop needs to store and retrieve information. This is done by the installed storage device. You have two options here: get a laptop with a regular hard drive, which will typically cost a lot less, or get a laptop that comes with an SSD. An SSD is the newest type of storage option that does not rely on spinning disks to store information and can be 10-12 times faster than a normal hard drive.

For front-end development work, a normal HDD should suffice, but you can always look for hybrid drives that incorporate a bit of SSD technology into a normal HDD. They are a bit faster than normal hard drives and they don’t cost as much compared to SSDs.

For any type of programming that is above front-end development, it is recommended that you get a laptop that has an SSD. This will speed up boot times and everything else running on your computer.

OS

This is another thing you will have to think about. While Windows is perhaps the most popular operating system today, it is not the best choice when it comes to all fields of development.

For web development, you should try to code on a Linux-based operating system, such as Ubuntu. Mac OS works too and Windows is last on this list. This is because you need to install different third-party software, such as XAMPP, on Windows if you are going to do back-end work. You will also have to install some of these on Ubuntu, but the process is much more streamlined.

Screen

The laptop screen is another important factor to consider. With so many resolutions available today, it is difficult to choose a laptop that is right for programming.

Front-end developers will need a laptop that has a higher-than-average resolution screen, as they will need to test whether their websites are responsive to many resolutions. For back-end developers, this is less important. But what is true for both categories is the need for a secondary monitor. This can speed up development time quite a bit as there is no need to constantly switch between applications when coding and verifying the output.

Battery duration

While most developers sit at their desk when coding with the computer plugged in, if you feel the need to code on the go, make sure you get a laptop that has great battery life.

Macs typically have great battery life, and their Air series goes up to 12 hours of battery life on a single charge.

The thing is, the more powerful the hardware a laptop carries, the more battery life will be sacrificed. This is because powerful hardware consumes a lot of electricity. Most computers today have come up with ways to counteract this by dimming the screen, lowering the processor level when the computer is not in use, etc.

If you are sure that you need a laptop with great battery life, which is also powerful but you don’t want to pay too much for a MacBook, then you should invest in a secondary battery that you can take with you when you are on the go.

In conclusion, if you have gone through all these aspects, you should have a pretty clear idea in your head of what your next laptop should look like.

Moringa seed health benefits

Native to Africa and Asia, the Moringa tree or Moringa Oleifera (botanical name) is one of the most nutrient-rich plants in the world.

As moringa powder is a natural source of these nutrients, it is highly bioavailable, so the human body can absorb the nutrients more easily than taking artificial or synthetic supplements.

Now let’s take a tour of the ten benefits of moringa.

MORINGA BENEFITS: TOP 10 HEALTH AND BEAUTY BENEFITS

1. REDUCTION OF TIREDNESS AND FATIGUE

On most days, 1 in 5 people feel unusually tired and 1 in 10 have prolonged fatigue, according to the UK’s Royal College of Psychiatrists.

Moringa fights against these fatigue and tiredness by providing iron and vitamin A to the human body.

Iron is very useful for preventing fatigue in our body and vitamin A helps accelerate the chemical reaction of iron, thus increasing metabolism. Moringa should be added moderately to our daily routines to effectively slow down and prevent fatigue and unusual tiredness.

Moringa powder’s rich iron content also makes it ideal for vegans, vegetarians, and those suffering from anemia.

2. SKIN

Moringa also helps maintain skin and prevent aging and discoloration.

It is also made up of vitamins for the skin such as vitamin A and vitamin E.

Vitamin A is necessary for healthy, radiant skin, and vitamin E protects cells from oxidative stress, which helps fight the signs of aging and helps you look young.

Moringa also has one of the highest antioxidant contents of any food. With an ORAC value of 157,000, it has 6 times the antioxidants of goji berries and levels comparable to the antioxidant potency of matcha.

Antioxidants are essential to protect, repair and prevent cell damage, minimizing the aging process of the skin in the long term. They help counteract oxidative stress and the effects of free radicals. Free radicals are unstable molecules that damage collagen causing dry skin, fine lines, wrinkles and premature aging.

3. IMMUNITY

One of moringa’s best benefits is its super immune-boosting power that helps your body’s cells stay agile and fight germs. Maintaining a healthy immune system is essential to help our bodies avoid deadly diseases and infections. Moringa Oleifera leaves are an extremely rich source of:

Iron: 32.2% of the NRV

Vitamin A: 18.9% of the NRV

Both are essential for the normal and proper functioning of the human immune system.

Scientists have done research on moringa as a cure for cancer or to prevent cancer. Moringa leaves have been shown to have beneficial properties in fighting breast and colon cancer cells, and research is ongoing.

4. MUSCLE GROWTH

Moringa oleifera leaves contain almost 25% protein, which is unusually high for a plant. Moringa’s high protein content makes it particularly beneficial for vegans and vegetarians who may have a hard time getting enough protein.

Try whipping it up into a smoothie for a post / pre-workout boost, or just sprinkle a little on your roasted veggies for an easy way to boost your protein intake!

5. ANTI-STRESS

A 2010 study in the Journal of Pharmacology and Pharmacodynamics Research confirmed that the leaves of the moringa tree are a powerful natural adaptogen.

¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿What ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿???

Adaptogens are herbs or plants that protect the body from the toxic effects of stress. They help improve resistance to fatigue.

Studies indicate that adaptogens not only help the body deal with stress, but can also improve overall health and performance.

Why not swap your morning coffee for a nutritious Moringa Latte and say hello to a stress-free day?

6. DIGESTION

Moringa powder is a rich source of calcium (24.7% NRV) that contributes to the normal functioning of digestive enzymes.

It also contains 24% fiber that can help maintain a healthy digestive system and bowel regularity. Fiber can also be helpful for weight management, as it helps you feel fuller for longer and supports a healthy metabolism.

7. ENERGY RELEASE

Moringa is a rich source of iron (32.2% NRV)

and calcium (24.7% VRN), which support energy-producing metabolism. Start the day with moringa and look energizing for the rest of the day.

8. VISION

Having healthy eyes and normal vision is something that can often be taken for granted, but it requires proper nutrition to maintain normal function. Moringa is a source of vitamin A (18.9% NRV per serving) that contributes to normal vision.

9. ANTIDIABETIC

Typically used in traditional medicine, recent scientific studies have confirmed that moringa is indeed a successful way to treat diabetes and has been shown to lower blood glucose levels.

In addition, subsequent research has shown that those who eat a diet rich in plant proteins can reduce their risk of type 2 diabetes (T2D). A 19-year study by the University of Eastern Finland found that replacing just 5 grams of meat-based protein consumption per day with a plant-based source could reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by up to 18 %: moringa contains 25% plant protein.

10. BONES

Maintaining strong and healthy bones is an important component of overall health. Moringa oleifera leaves are a rich source of vitamin K (158.7% NRV), protein (25%), and calcium (24.7% NRV), all of which maintain normal bones.

WHAT DOES MORINGA KNOW?

Moringa has a green, earthy flavor, similar to spinach or matcha green tea. It is delicious mixed with food or drinks to increase the nutrients.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT MORINGA

Moringa is becoming more and more available around the world as people discover its many health benefits; however, not all moringa is the same. Moringa is grown mainly in developing countries where infrastructure can be poor. Harvested moringa leaves are often washed with non-pure water, which may contain bacteria and other microbes. It is important to use a certified organic moringa brand to ensure that the powder is free of harmful substances.

Aldric Marshall is on the move!

When he was young, Aldric Marshall was labeled a “slow learner”. That was just the beginning. After struggling with the unexpected and a series of confusing setbacks, including rejection and growing up in an intensely violent home, Aldric redefined his life. In doing so, a confident, prolific, and ambitious leader and author emerged. Today, his messages include a set of motivational teachings rich enough to evoke and inspire all of humanity. With an arc of revolutionary fervor and zeal, Marshall transforms the way and what disadvantaged people see. With astonishing frankness, the first author recounts his poignant real-life story of overcoming a multitude of challenges. You have created the life of your dreams as an entrepreneur, educator, and motivational speaker. Recently, I sat down with him. We talk about her childhood, her love of inspiring others, and of course her freshman book, “The Success Behind the Scars.”

Fran Briggs: Good morning, Aldric. Thank you for taking the time to meet with us today.

Aldric Marshall: It is a pleasure to be with you, I have heard a lot about you and the wonderful things you are doing. Thanks for having me.

full board No problem. Aldric, could you share with us a little more about your experience?

I AM Growing up in my youth and later in my youth, I could not read. Still, I graduated from high school with a 2.0 GPA. I enlisted in the army and they fired me for failing the aptitude test. I witness a lot of domestic violence in my home as a child. It tested my ability to function like a normal kid in school. I’ve heard it all; from, ‘you’re going to be a wife beater, you’ll never get anywhere, to, you’ll go from one dead-end job to another. I’m here to tell you: someone’s comment about you does no it has to be your reality. Indeed, I did not grow up with a silver spoon in my mouth; in fact, I can count the spoons we had at home.

full board His long-awaited book, Success Behind the Scars, is scheduled for a February 2009 release. Can you share a synopsis?

I AM The book talks about how I grew up in a home with domestic violence, how I was labeled a slow learner and expelled from the Air Force for failing an aptitude test. I had to get a job in a dirty junkyard separating metal for a large aircraft company. That junkyard was where I learned to read. On Success behind the scars I tell my moving real life story of overcoming a multitude of challenges to create the life of my dreams, becoming an entrepreneur, educator, and now a motivational speaker. I revealed the secrets to my success and inspire readers to bravely pursue and achieve their dreams!

full board Whose council have you benefited the most from?

I AM The only advice and example that everyone can benefit from is Jesus; that’s what I have benefited the most from.

full board What were some of the biggest obstacles involved in your decision to become the leader you are today?

I AM This decision was very easy for me. As a speaker, I witnessed other children who had the same emotions that I did when I was in school and as a child. I saw these ‘obstacles’ as a blessing to help others.

full board What is evident is your passion and dedication to teaching others how to be successful. When did you realize that you had the ability to ignite and help others empower themselves in your daily life?

I AM When I spoke to the children and witnessed a positive change in their lives. Parents from all over came to me and asked me to talk to their children about the problems they are going through.

full board Most mentors have had or have had mentors. Did you have a mentor who influenced you a lot in your youth?

I AM The community in general influenced me a lot when I was young. When I realized that I was the one causing most of my problems. It was then that I opened up to seek help. I couldn’t read and act like most normal kids. I was afraid of being exposed, which greatly enhanced my ability to move on. Fear is something. . . It will keep you grabbed and under a rock if you let it. Another key person was my Uncle Claude. It was very inspiring in my life. My Uncle Claude realized that school work and everything it had to offer was not for me. What he did was take advantage of my strengths. He showed me how to work with my hands. There are many more people who greatly influenced my life. There are too many to mention.

full board What are the visions you make up in your mind that drive your desire to inspire?

I AMI remember reading something. He said: ‘To the world you are only one person, but to a person, you can be the world.’ The hands-off approach that people take towards our youth in our communities has resulted in our children losing their smiles, their shine, and their hope for a future. My inspiration is when I see a lost smile, a glow and a hope for the future. That’s what drives me.

full board Aldric, in your book you mention that you went from working in a junkyard to running a multi-million dollar company. Can you tell readers how you did it?

I AM I did it with perseverance and perseverance. I wanted to create a better life for myself and my family and show other young people that whatever you set your mind to, you can achieve it.

full board Currently, she is a project coordinator for the Florida Resource Center for Women and Children. Could you describe your role for us?

I AM My role as a project coordinator is to bring economic development back to communities where most of our urban community has lost hope for the future. My role also includes encouraging, encouraging, motivating, and providing each and every individual with the care they need and the self-esteem required to be future leaders and role models.

full board Many authors have a favorite author. You have one? If so, who is it and why?

I AM My favorite author is John C. Maxwell because when I was in the junkyard learning to read, the first book I read in its entirety was The journey of success by John C. Maxwell. His book continues to inspire me to this day. Not to mention that John is a dear friend of mine. He is also one of the pastors of my church. I have the pleasure of speaking with him every Sunday that he comes to minister.

full board What has been the most moving experience since you wrote your book?

I AM The most moving experience I’ve had since writing my book was knowing that I would help a lot of people and knowing that my book cuts across all cultures, backgrounds, and genres.

full board Have you ever guessed your faith or ability to write a book? If so, how did you get over it?

I AM Yes, I have doubts about my faith in writing a book due to my past of not being able to read as a child and totally hating school. Writing a book brought with it multiple challenges. But those challenges were quickly overcome by the three things I call ‘The 3D’s of Life’. They are Determination. Dedication. And drive.

full boardWhat makes you happier?

I AM What makes me happy the most is when I spend time with my family and see them happy.

full board What advice would you give the aspiring author?

I AM My advice to the promising and aspiring author is that if you dream of becoming an author, or even a speaker or motivator, don’t let your fears or anyone stop you from achieving your dreams. They (your dreams) are there for you to take.

full board What’s next for Aldric Marshall?

I AM I plan to take my message to the world. I want to help inspire, motivate and convey the message that you can achieve anything you set your mind to. I was a child who grew up witnessing domestic violence and was told that it would never amount to anything. I was bombarded by all kinds of negativity and couldn’t read. Still, I graduated with a 2.0 GPA. If I can achieve my dreams, then the next person can achieve their dreams too.

full board Thank you, Mr. Aldric Marshall. It was an absolute honor and a pleasure to speak with you today. I believe nothing but the best for you in all your endeavors.

I AM Thanks.

Oh Yorkies! Common Yorkie Health Disorders

Yorkies are susceptible to a number of disorders that any serious buyer should consider. Although many Yorkies with disorders live long and healthy lives, some can be expensive. It is better to be fully aware of the main disorders of the breed.

Hypoglycemia is common among small breed puppies. It is one of the most disturbing for new owners. Sometimes misdiagnosed, it is important to recognize the symptoms of hypoglycemia and know how to treat it. Hypoglycemia is easily treated in the early stages, but can be fatal if it is allowed to progress to seizures. It is important to understand that just because a puppy has a hypoglycemic episode; it may not be a chronic problem. Yorkies can have an isolated hypoglycemic incident in reaction to almost any trigger. Some examples of common stress include booster shots, housebreaking, and excessive manipulation. Many puppies just play too rough sometimes. Symptoms generally include, but are not limited to, listlessness, shaky gait, drooling, and pale gray gums. Puppies’ gums should always be bright pink. If you notice symptoms, call a vet right away. It is always a very good idea for owners of a Yorkie puppy or small adult to have a supply of Vet-cal, usually available at your veterinarian’s office. It is a pasta rich in calories and nutrients. A pea size rubbed on the gums or under the tongue can usually avoid a real problem. We recommend that puppies receive Vet-Cal or a similar substitute each night before bed. If the puppy responds to the supplement, make sure he is warm. Make sure to feed high-quality food, as Yorkies need the biggest gang for the money. Supervise the puppy to make sure the condition does not recur. The later stages require treatment by your veterinarian and / or your breeder. This is another reason to carefully select your breeder. You should have complete confidence that your breeder will help you at any time of the day or night in a situation like this.

Patellar luxation is certainly not life threatening for the most part, but it can cause mild to severe pain. Basically, this condition occurs if the kneecap has slipped out of the groove. A dislocated kneecap can be caused by a malformation of the knee and considered a genetic defect or it can be caused by an injury sustained from jumping off the couch. Generally, puppies before 15 weeks of age will have normal gliding. However, your vet can determine if the problem deserves attention.

Porto-systemic shunt, also known as hepatic shunt, is also one of the disorders that New Yorkie owners fear. The short is an abnormal blood flow in the liver. Blood must flow from the digestive tract to the liver through the portal system into the blood vessels in the liver and then into the caudal vena cava, which is the large blood vessel that carries blood back to the heart. In a Porto systemic shunt, as the name implies, the portal blood bypasses the liver and goes directly to the systemic venous circulation. With PSS, toxins are not removed by the liver and circulate through the body. This causes neurological problems more often. Hepatic encephalopathy is a term you may hear associated with behavioral manifestations of liver dysfunction. Porto systemic shunts can be acquired over time or at birth. Most animals with congenital systemic Porto shunts show clinical signs between 8 and 15 weeks of age. When the signs are subtle, the condition may not be diagnosed until much later. Yorkies should not be brought home before 15 weeks of age so that your breeder has a chance to watch for signs of PSS.

Retinal dysphasia is the abnormal development of the retina and is usually present at birth. The disorder can be inherited or it can be acquired as a result of a viral infection or some other event before the Yorkie was born.

Tracheal collapse is a narrowing of the internal diameter of the trachea that fluctuates according to the stage of the respiratory cycle. A good demonstration is sucking the wind through a straw too fast. This will collapse the straw. It is generally not fatal, but causes a “reverse sneeze” so to speak. It can be a hereditary trait, although many other factors can contribute, such as obesity and age.

There are specific signs of a healthy Yorkie, puppy, or adult that owners should be aware of. Yorkie’s temperature should be between 100.5 and 102.5 F. To take your Yorkie’s temperature, use a clean, well-lubricated pediatric rectal thermometer specifically marked for your dog. Many believe that the temperature can be judged by a wet nose. It is essential to check the temperature accurately using a thermometer. The normal respiratory rate for Yorkies, both puppies and adults, is 15 to 40 breaths / minute. The heart rate of most Yorkies should be between 70 and 220 beats / minute. Ask your vet about your puppies’ heart rate every time you visit, as it can vary greatly. Glossy and healthy gums indicate adequate oxygenation and circulation. Gray, cloudy gums can often be the first sign of hypoglycemia. If your Yorkie has had more than one episode of vomiting or diarrhea, see dehydration care. Dehydration can be very dangerous for Yorkies.
