You see, I’m on a ton of newsletters on muscle building, bodybuilding, fat loss, weightlifting, and health. I get at least 25 to 30 of these every day. They are all the same. They offer you these promises … The “Quick Fat Loss or Weight Loss Trick”, or “Genetics Doesn’t Matter” or “Super Supplement Is Better Than Steroids” sort of thing. Many of these people selling this nonsense never got much training or progress. Even more deceptive are the street vendors selling these programs, who have attractive physiques (they may even be in their 40s and 70s) and are taking pharmaceutical drugs.

Listen to me, it’s not complicated. I do it all in my two-car garage and I also do it with thousands, maybe millions of other people. There have been men who have won the Mr. America and Mr. Universe titles and trained with a partner in a garage or basement or in a YMCA that had dumbbells, barbells, maybe a power rack or just a squat rack. Nothing special, just the basic exercises with constant progression and perseverance.

The point I am making is this.

I get a lot of emails from guys and girls who want to look like someone they follow on YouTube or Facebook or some other form of broadcast or social media. They are in awe of the lean, strong, and muscular physique they see in this person and want to build the same physique themselves. They buy the program or membership and try only to fail, why? Because they followed a faulty weightlifting and diet program. The creator of the show never used the program or, if he did, he also took steroids or testosterone or one of the many recreational drugs used to build lean muscle and burn fat.

Learn to be a leader, not a follower. Follow your instincts and not your emotions and you will be a leader and success will be you!

How to make sure a debt collection is legitimate

Your phone rings. Someone on the other side claims to work for a collection agency of some kind. It tells you that the purpose of this call is to collect a debt. A debt that you don’t remember owning or that is so old that you thought it was gone. How do you make sure it’s legitimately collectible?

The caller must identify who they are and who they work for. A legitimate debt collector will provide a phone number, business name, and mailing address. A scammer will scoff at this or claim they don’t have to provide this information.

Most collection agencies will send you a letter before calling you. Federal law requires them to send you a letter about the debt no later than five days after their first contact with you. Sending the letter first ensures that they are complying with the law and eliminates the surprise when they call.

You have the right to have the collection agency verify the debt. You must do this in writing and I recommend that you send the letter by certified mail return receipt requested so that you have proof that you received the letter. You can find a sample letter from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau at consumerfinance.gov.

Although there is no federal definition of what constitutes a debt check, the assumption is that if they can show a judge that you owe the debt, then that is an acceptable check. Therefore, you should receive one or more of these items:

  • A copy of the original signed contract.

Many people know that it is easy to take a photo from the Internet by right-clicking and downloading it to your computer. The image that is saved is not one that can be used in a book or any product that can be resold.

Without going to the source of the photograph and buying it, the image is illegal for commercial use. If the image is in Creative Commons or in the public domain, it is free to use in a published work.

Another problem with right-clicking is quality. Most images on the Internet and low resolution and that results in a poor quality product.

You can be a blogger and book writer or a media creator for your new small business. You may want to enhance the materials you create with photos.

Before you right-click on an image that you find on the Internet, I would like to encourage you to visit the many photography sites that offer high-quality images licensed for commercial use.

Some of my photographs have been sold to clients for book covers and even clothing. I think I would sell more if people knew how easy and inexpensive it is to obtain original licensed photos.
