SNES Plays: The Resurrection of Retro Games

Super Nintendo Reproductions (SNES) are the new sensation among retro game collectors. These SNES reproductions are games that have been reprogrammed and recycled to own and play a new game that has never been released in the United States, is it a prototype, a fan-made game, or a cheat from an original game. The process of making a SNES replay is quite complicated; you have to be very tech savvy to pull off one of these beauties. Fortunately, there are sites online that do all of this work for you.

Collectors who are crazy about Super Nintendo games, often learn how to do SNES playback because they enjoyed playing Japanese import games on a computer emulator (PC software that plays ROMs, SNES games), but the feeling of retro games wasn’t there yet. They prefer to play Japanese import games on the real console and in English. Research is a main factor in being able to know all the technical aspects of a SNES cart and understand them. Once you learn the SNES specs, you can recycle your old and unwanted SNES cartridges, which are called donor carts, and turn them into legitimate Super Nintendo replicas; You really won’t know the difference between a reproduction and an original game! Only games that can be legally played are as mentioned above: fan-made games, never released in the US before, and prototypes that never made it to market. Some of the best streaming titles include:

• Secret of Mana 2

• Legend of Zelda BS

• Clock tower

• Megaman and Bass

• Terranigma

• Dragon Ball Z RPG

The disadvantages of the Super Nintendo reproduction carts is that all the information to learn how to make them is free online. Anyone can learn to make games and can start making illegal copies of games that were commercially released in the US This is a big problem for collectors because it will be more difficult to recognize between a reproduction cartridge and an original cartridge of a rare / expensive Online game. Most reproduction cartridge manufacturers are well-intentioned collectors and will not sell any illegal copies of a game. But there are people who buy from player manufacturers and resell these games on eBay or other sites as “VERY RARE” games at ridiculously high prices.

Prices for a reproduction cartridge can range from $ 55 to $ 100. The price depends on the type of parts needed, the quality and if the game includes a reproduction box and reproduction manual, or a universal game box, or just the cartridge.

If you plan to collect reproduction cartridges, be very careful and research where you buy them. SNES reproductions are helping to bring back memories to the collector, but can bring bitter experiences if the buyer / collector is not well informed.

Isometrics: serious muscle training without weights

Isometrics – A super fast way to increase muscle size and strength without using weights.

Isometry is perhaps the least used and least valued exercise method. It is perhaps the best strength training method to be used in rehabilitation and can produce increases in strength and size where traditional weight-bearing exercise regimens have failed. The isometric contraction, usually called ISOMETRIC, is one in which the muscle is activated, but instead of allowing it to lengthen or shorten, it is kept at a constant length. This isometric muscle contraction is not done through a variety of movements, but in a static position. Isometry is based on the principles of creating muscle tension while opposing the force of an immovable object or gravity. Isometrics are performed with high levels of intensity (70-100%) rather than repetitive movements typically for a period of 7 to 12 seconds. Once the muscle relaxes after contraction, there is increased blood flow to the muscles, which equates to increased absorption of nutrition and energy which in turn increases muscle mass (size). Isometric exercise is a form of resistance training in which the participant uses the muscles of the body to exert force against an immovable object or to hold the muscle in a fixed position for a specified period of time. In this type of exercise, the muscle contracts but does not change in length during resistance exercise. In addition, the joint most closely associated with exertion remains static throughout the exercise.

Isometric training has been around for centuries in things like yoga and Chinese martial arts. Even Pilates uses isometric exercise as part of its training protocol. Isometry is probably one of the few exercise techniques that has been scientifically validated.

At the Max Plank Institute in the 1950s, Dr. Hettinger and Dr. Mueller conducted scientific research in the field of isometry. Their study conclusively demonstrated that isometrics can increase strength by up to 300% in less than 30 days!

Isometric workouts were originally made famous by Charles Atlas, although he called them “dynamic tension” and in recent years isometric workouts have made a big comeback, especially in the field of rehabilitation therapy. Gert F Koebel has developed several devices that use isometrics as the basis of the exercise protocol, including the Bullworker.

Isometric contraction refers to the case of strength training, in which the muscles contract, but do not change their length. The isometric name comes from the words ‘iso’ which means equal and ‘metric’ which means distance. Unlike other dynamic muscle contractions that involve a change in position, the isometric contraction is performed in a static position. Physical activities based on isometric muscle contraction are known as isometric exercises. Sometimes professional weightlifters and bodybuilders will incorporate some isometrics into their workouts, often to break down barriers and reach new levels of muscle strength, which in turn leads to new and increased muscle mass.

Advantages of isometric contraction exercises

Isometric exercises can be done practically anywhere! You can do it while sitting watching TV, while sunbathing, while waiting in a traffic jam and well, the list goes on and on. Every day, we could if we want to enjoy performing isometric contractions as part of our daily activities, such as carrying a suitcase or a travel bag full of groceries. Isometrics are particularly beneficial for people with back pain, as muscles can be developed without further damaging the back and the resulting gains in (let’s say) abdominal strength help relieve tension in the back, which in turn helps your back heal like your abs stronger. Take the stress off your injured back.

Often the main benefits are perceived as maximum muscle contraction in a short space of time. I use isometric training with many of my corporate clients who just don’t have time to hit the gym. When resistance or weight gradually increases, your muscle will become stronger. However, if you are looking to build big muscles rather than just “tone up” then you need to use some more extreme methods of isometric training which, while very intense, can deliver results that can rival those obtained by people taking chemical steroids. , especially if performed while undergoing a planned supplementation regimen using products like Aminotaur, which have been shown to naturally enhance muscle growth while you sleep.

The key advantage of isometry is that it can be done without any specialized equipment. However, if you want faster results and you also want to seriously increase your lean muscle mass, you can incorporate the foundation of this with any strength training device, from chest expanders to dumbbells to barbells.

However, this type of training is intense in nature if done correctly, so if you have high blood pressure or any type of heart condition, consult your doctor before training. If your doctor has any questions, as this type of training, when done correctly, can have numerous additional benefits, please let him or her contact us and we will be happy to pass on any information that may help.

Benefits of isometric exercises.

Isometric exercises can be performed without any type of machine or equipment anytime, anywhere. If you have 10 seconds, you can work a muscle group without anyone noticing that you are using isometric training. Convenience and time savings is one of the reasons why isometrics are so popular and become even more popular as people’s lives get busier and busier. Doing isometric exercises for 7 to 10 seconds at a time throughout the day can replace your training, if done correctly. A bold claim? Yes it is, but I feel safe saying this.

The easiest way to demonstrate this is to press the palms of your hands as hard as you can and, maintaining the tension, you will work your arms, shoulders and chest. To work your neck and upper back muscles, cross your fingers behind your head, push your head back with your hands using your neck muscles while trying to push your head forward with your hands.

Find a wall to push yourself against or something you can pull against that won’t move like a door jam. The only thing you need to remember is to use as much force as possible for 10 seconds. Using maximum strength will give you all the benefits that an isometric workout offers. Some advocates say use 80% of your maximum, but how do you measure 80%? And with my own studies, I have never seen anyone get hurt using isometrics.

If you have high blood pressure, you should not do this type of activity because isometric exercises cause an increase in blood pressure. Although blood pressure normally returns to normal fairly quickly once the muscle relaxes, increased blood pressure can be dangerous for those already suffering from high blood pressure. If you suffer from high blood pressure but really want to participate in isometric exercises, check with your doctor for advice on how to lower your blood pressure first.

Isometrics build muscle mass. In a recent experiment, an average size improvement of 12.4% was found for heavy isometric training and 5.3% with isometric training using weights equivalent to 60% of 1 rm of weight after a training period of 10 weeks.

Using isometrics for strength

To strengthen your bench press, you can either stand on a power stand and press the bar against an immovable pin for a certain period of time, or hold a supra-maximal weight in a ¼ rep range for 6-20 seconds.

The first type of isometric movement, pushing against an immovable object, is used for strength only, while the second type, holding a weight and keeping it from moving, is better for strength and muscle growth. Personally, I prefer the second type where you just keep a weight in place for both strength and muscle growth.

Some say that doing isometrics will only strengthen the part of the movement that you are training. For example, if you do isometrics in a ¼ range bench press position, you will only strengthen that part of the movement. The truth is that you will strengthen the part of the movement that you are training, but you will also get 15-30 degree drag and if you train at the most disadvantageous joint angle (such as the bottom of a bench press or the point in the squat where your thighs are parallel) you actually get 100% strength in the rest of the movement.

Strengthen your weak links and everything else becomes stronger too. In other words, if you perform an isometric contraction a few inches from your chest on the bench press, you will tend to increase the strength of your entire bench press and the size of your entire chest. But if you only do isometrics in the easier ¼ or 1/3 range in one move, you only get a 15-30 degree drag.

If you really want to increase strength in one movement, using the bench press as an example, simply use 3 different positions (lower, middle, and upper) and perform an isometric in each position. You would perform isometrics in the contracted position close to your chest, the mid-range position, and then the extended up position. A sample workout would be 2 sets of 10 seconds in each position with the bottom position done first. For strength, each isometric contraction should last 20 seconds or less and ideally less than 10 seconds.

The benefits of isometric exercise are many and varied, but simple and inexpensive to implement. Give them a try, you will notice improvements very quickly, and then you can make isometrics a key part of your exercise regimen.

Choosing the Right Law School in the USA

International students generally have to choose from many schools if they want to be admitted to a US law school, it is a challenge for them to choose the best law school. They have to do a lot of research before making the final decision. If you want to choose the right school in the United States, follow the tips given below.

See the classifications of law schools

If you are exploring schools in the US, be sure to consider the school rankings. In the United States, all accredited schools are ranked annually in light of different criteria.

For example, common criteria include placement success, selectivity, attorney rankings, and quality, just to name a few. International students often apply to law schools based on these rankings.

For the most part, employers prefer higher ranked schools when accepting graduates. We suggest you check out America’s Top 100 Law Schools.

Ideally, you may want to learn more about schools that you find interesting based on courses, teaching style, location, and extracurricular activities. The school must offer a quality education so that you can hone your skills.

The location of the school

Location is the most important thing when looking for a law school in the US Once you qualify, you will practice law in the same region where your school was located. Below are some of the main reasons for this:

Law degrees are regional: Actually, law degrees are more important in the region in which you studied. For example, if you obtained your law degree from a Florida school, chances are you can find work in one of the Florida cities.

Alumni Partners – Typically alumina partners tend to hire law students based on their soul meter rather than a different school.

State Bar Exams – Law degrees are regional because you will have to pass a state exam after graduating from law school in the United States.

Depending on the state, the law varies. Therefore, if you studied in Georgia, you cannot pass the Florida law exam as you will not have the skills and knowledge to pass the exam.

Of course, these rules have some exceptions. In the US, the best law schools offer degrees that can allow you to work across the country. If you study in these schools, you can find work all over the United States. And most law firms will be happy to hire you.

Field of study

You may want to choose the right law courses. Since different schools offer different courses, make sure you don’t get carried away just because a school is in your desired area and has impressive rankings.

In some types of laws, some schools offer a much better education. Generally, reputable facilities have much better employment rates. On the other hand, some law schools offer better internship and training opportunities, such as internships at the state or public defender’s office in the United States.

So if you are looking for a law school in the USA, know that some schools are popular for producing excellent criminal lawyers or sports agents. Therefore, you should consider the tips given above to make the right decision.

The Glassell Park and Highland Park Real Estate Resurgence

The real estate industry in Northeast Los Angeles has been booming for years. We hear it on television and in the news. There is rarely a story in which the term “gentrification” is used to describe areas like Eagle Rock, Mt. Washington and Highland Park, regions where home values have skyrocketed. Is it something that home buyers and sellers should know?

By definition, “gentrifying” is upgrading a home or district to suit the taste of the middle class. The middle class, or bourgeoisie, is trying to emulate the standards of the upper class. In the United Kingdom, the nobility refers to people of high social position, specifically the class of people that remains below the nobility. Thus, the gentrification of an area is a process whereby those of lower socioeconomic status are forced to leave a region to make it more attractive to people of higher socioeconomic status. Removing dilapidated downtown homes away from working-class families to be renovated and sold to the privileged is also known as progress or gentrification.

That is precisely what is happening in the once dilapidated Highland Park neighborhood. This ongoing restorative transformation has helped eradicate crime and strengthen the local economy. Juice bars and yogurt shops have sprung up in place of abandoned laundries and liquor stores. Local businesses are now thriving, where once windows were boarded up and corpses rusted.

Nowhere is this more evident than in the Northeast Los Angeles neighborhood of Glassell Park, where police recently razed the homes of suspected gangs in a dramatic crackdown on crime. Shortly thereafter, investors began investing in the repair of homes overlooking the Glassell Park hillside, and property values began to rise with the appearance of new stores and restaurants in direct proportion.

At one point, Eco Park stood as the symbol of gentrification in Los Angeles. This forgotten slum underwent a complete metamorphosis in the 1990s, making it one of the most sought after areas east of the city center. With Echo Park as a model, the restoration movement has continued its march eastward, rehabilitating other areas, such as Highland Park and Glassell Park, with great potential.

A tell-tale sign of the up and coming neighborhood is what’s known as the Starbucks phenomenon. If this “7-eleven” of coffee shops has chosen to plant their green lady logo on the block, you can bet your bottom dollar that the ‘Hipsters are coming’ or, more likely, the Hipsters have already arrived. This, of course, means that property values are going up. In the historic Highland Park region, York Boulevard is now reserved by Starbucks. Having a Starbucks on the corner is clear evidence that a wealthy community is on the rise. Highland Park home values are absolutely exploding.

Another way to measure opulence is by exploring the sheer volume of trendy restaurants, bars, and art galleries, not to mention the crowded cafes too cool for school patrons everywhere. This enclave has become a hot spot for exotic dinners among foodies and the like. Good food seems to go hand in hand with gentrification. That is one of the advantages. Today you can find French, Italian, Japanese, Vietnamese and a wide variety of vegan food in this once-abandoned district. It has become an incredible multicultural mecca. One more example of economic growth is the improvement of public transportation. Business people can travel from paradise to downtown by train in minutes.

The median price of a home in Highland Park is now approaching 700,000. In relative terms, this area is still a bargain in Los Angeles’ exorbitant housing market. As the beautification of these older neighborhoods thrives in NELA, real estate naturally becomes more desirable and property values rise.

Beware! Before adopting from a dog rescue, should you know the correct answers for the app?

If you are considering adopting a dog from an animal shelter or dog rescue group, this is wonderful! Every dog adopted from a shelter or rescue group helps eliminate despicable puppy mills and, more importantly, saves a dog’s life. Unfortunately, some dog rescue groups make adopting a dog almost as difficult as adopting a child. The first hurdle you must overcome is the initial adoption application. A “wrong” answer here will send you home in shock and empty-handed. For this reason, it is important that you read this application BEFORE falling in love with a specific dog.

Most rescue groups, especially puppy-dog rescues and breed-specific rescues, require you to submit an adoption application and approve it before they will even speak to you or allow you to see their dogs in person. . You will be able to see images of dogs available on the rescue website; but until they have approved your application, that is all that can come. Fortunately, not all rescues are so terribly demanding; And in comparison, the shelters are downright cozy!

I can’t overstate the importance of this initial app! Please understand that I am an honest person. I am not lying and would never tell anyone to lie on an application. With that said, there are certain responses that, if indicated in an application, will immediately disqualify you. When you read the application, you will need to determine if any of these apply to you. Then you will need to decide how you want to handle the situation. You can try to avoid having to admit the truth, or you may need to find a less demanding rescue team.

For the questions below, I will give you the “correct” answer, by which I mean the answer the ransom wants to read or hear from you. I will also give you answers that will disqualify you. If there is any other acceptable answer, I will say so as well. For some questions, I’ll just say NOTB – None of your business – or I’ll just tell you to go elsewhere.

Typical “problematic” questions:

1. How much money do you make? This is one of those NOTB questions. They supposedly want to make sure you can afford to adopt a dog, but I think the only answer that can be given here is “I earn enough.”

(Just FYI – some bailouts are actually discriminatory, and questions related to salary, type of home, where you live, etc. are used to remove certain people.)

2. How long during the day will your dog be alone?

Disqualify: All day or I work all day.

Correct: NONE. There is always someone at home.

Acceptable: not long. I go home for lunch and my neighbor lets the dog out two or three times a day.

3. How long will your dog have to spend alone outdoors?

Disqualify: All day.

Correct: None.

There is no other acceptable answer.

4. Is your yard fenced in with a 5 ‘(or 6’) wooden fence?

Disqualify: No fence; electric fence; 4 ‘wire fence. (I have not found any rescue that will accept an electric fence.)

Correct: Yes, I have a 5 ‘(or 6’) wooden fence.

Acceptable: this will depend on the dog. For an older small dog, a shorter fence might be acceptable.

5. Do you have children? What are the ages?

Disqualification: Baby or children under 6 years old.

Correct: There are no children, or they are all 10 or older.

Acceptable: Ages 4-10 will depend on the dog.

6. What pets do you have and, if you don’t already have them, why not?

The second part of this question is IT’S NOT B! They are trying to find out if he has left any pets or if he has returned any.

7. Where will the dog sleep?

Disqualify: Outdoors.

Correct: In the house, with us, in a drawer.

8. Is everyone in the family excited about getting a new dog?

Disqualify: Any answer other than YES.

Correct: YES.

9. Have you ever returned or delivered a pet? This could be worded: Is there an acceptable reason to return a pet?

Disqualify: Yes.

Correct: never. I would never do that.

Acceptable – This can be tricky. If an adopted animal and their current pets couldn’t figure things out, they might still approve.

10. Have you had a pet?

Disqualify: Yes. Most rescues do not believe there is any acceptable reason to euthanize a dog. Assault is never an acceptable reason. Serious injury or illness may be considered acceptable, but that depends on rescue. Some believe in the “while they can breathe” philosophy to keep an animal alive.

Final thoughts:

Before becoming fond of a dog, read both the adoption application and the adoption contract. If you find that you will not be approved (young children, living in an apartment, unfenced yard, etc.) or you cannot agree to some of the requirements of the contract, don’t bother looking at pictures of your animals. Instead, find a different rescue or go to your local shelter or Humane Society.

Puppy rescue groups and breed rescues tend to have an inherent distrust of humans. Therefore, their requirements are very strict. Rescues who make a concerted effort to save dogs from euthanasia in shelters are more human-friendly and understand that their first goal should be to bring these animals into loving homes.

Be patient and check the websites frequently. Visit your local shelter often. Your perfect dog will find you!

Real Estate

Houston Texas is the place to invest in real estate

As highlighted in many government reports in recent months, Houston Texas has largely avoided the huge collapse in real estate values that the rest of the US has faced, and is poised for strong growth over the next decade. Prices are slightly below 2006 levels, but the market as a whole has been stable. Jobs are strong and the energy sector as a whole will continue to provide growth to Houston’s economy for many years to come as we move away from fossil fuels to more renewable energy sources. Combine stable home prices with stable jobs and growth and historically low interest rates, and Houston is clearly one of the best markets for your real estate investment.

I am personally purchasing single family homes in the northwest suburbs of Houston. This location is strategically chosen by multiple factors. First, I know the Northwest Houston market VERY well, and can detect a lot from a mile away. I put properties under contract at 50-60% of the real property value to wholesale to other real estate investors for a big quick profit because I find so many really great deals that I can’t buy them all myself. Second, it’s further from shore, so insurance is MUCH cheaper, and flood insurance is usually not needed. Third, there are several great school districts, and great schools are what keep great communities great.

While no one knows for sure when the value of real estate will increase, you can buy property in Houston Texas at a deep discount and be able to sell it for a profit at any time. Single family homes in Houston can be purchased at reasonable prices and provide you with a consistent positive passive income each month. Right now is a good time to buy. Experienced domestic real estate investors are focusing on Houston. Whether you’re just starting out or have been in the game for a year, now is the time to shop in Houston.

R4 DS Slot 1 – Home Game Player for Nintendo DS and Nintendo DS Lite

Currently, there are numerous slot 1 solutions for Nintendo DS on the market. Two of the most notable are the R4 DS slot 1 solution and the M3 DS Simply. The favorite of the two seems to be the M3 DS Simply. Often out of stock at many online retailers. However, a little known fact could get you to get up and play without worrying about the item going out of stock. I say this because my research has shown me (and confirmed by the manufacturers themselves) that the R4 DS and the M3 DS Simply are practically identical to each other in both features and functions.

Both the M3 DS and the R4 DS Slot 1 solution are made by the same people, or at least the same factory. What this means for homebrew gamers and enthusiasts is that they can get their hands on the R4 DS and know that they are getting the exact same product that they would get if they bought the M3 DS Simply from another store.

You see, the R4 DS and the M3 DS Simply are EXACTLY the same. The only difference between the two units is the packaging and the logo that is displayed on the main screen when you turn on your Nintendo DS or DS Lite. The functionality, features, even firmware updates and updates are released at the same time, and it appears that all the features and functions of each update are identical to the others. Whether you get the M3 DS Simply or the R4 DS Slot 1 Solution, you essentially get exactly the same thing – everything you need to load games, homebrew, and apps is included in the box.

The R4 DS Slot 1 Solution Pack

It’s almost a clear indication here, except for the fact that the R4 DS comes in its own R4 DS box. But you will notice that once you open the box, the contents of the box are identical to the M3 DS Simply, you even get the same light blue keychain / carrying case that simply came with the M3 DS. You get everything you need right out of the box. This includes the 1 R4 DS slot cartridge, a USB microSD reader / writer (and this actually allows you to use your microSD as a USB drive), as well as the keychain carrying case and software CD.

Setting up the R4 DS is easy

The setup is as simple as can be. The included instruction manual (found on the CD) details exactly what you need to do to get your R4 DS working. The first thing you’ll need to do is insert the microSD card (not included, but you can buy it anywhere) into the microSD reader / writer and plug it into any free USB port on your computer. It will instantly appear as a portable drive / flash drive. Here you can do one of two things. You can copy the software from the CD, as instructed in the manual, to the microSD card to put all the system files on it. However, I would recommend that you go to the R4 DS firmware page and download the latest drivers as they are often updated there.

Once you have copied your system files to the micro SD card, it is time to load the games and home applications that you would like to play. Again, this works exactly the same way with the M3 DS simply, there is no difference between the two units at all. Just copy and paste the files from your PC that you want to the microSD card. A simple drag and drop is all it takes. Homemade games and apps work without any patch, repair, or compression. They work as is, ready to go, so to speak.

Now that you have copied the files from your system and the files you would like to use and play, it is time to put your microSD card in the slot on the top of the R4 DS cartridge. The R4 DS cartridge is the same size as any standard Nintendo DS or DS Lite game cartridge, so it won’t bulge or stick out once it’s inserted into the cartridge slot on your NDS. The micro SD slot is at the top of the R4 DS and is actually spring loaded. The microSD card is inserted into the slot with the SD label on the opposite side of the actual R4 DS cartridge label. You will hear a CLICK once you have inserted the microSD card into the slot, this is to let you know that it is in place and that you are ready to turn on your Nintendo DS console. The microSD card fits perfectly flush with the R4’s case.

Once you have turned on your Nintendo DS or Nintendo DS lite, the system files will load from the R4 DS cartridge, exactly the same way they do when using the M3 DS Simply. The main menu takes about 2 seconds to appear, with the R4 DS logo on the top screen and the menu on the bottom. In the lower screen you can select one of the 3 options.

1. GAME MENU – When you select this menu, you will be instantly taken to a list of all game files, home applications, and more. that you have stored on your microSD card. You can use the controller panel on the NDS to select the file you want to upload. If you are loading a game for the first time, you will be asked, after selecting the game, to confirm that you want to create a save file for the game. This is necessary if you want to save your game. Saved games are stored on the same microSD card as game files; This is great if you want to delete those games later, to replace them with other files, as you can copy the game’s saved files to your PC, for future use when you’re ready to continue playing that game again.

2. MULTIMEDIA MENU: When you select this second option, the Media Player / Moonshell will start. Within this menu, you can view digital photos stored on the microSD card, listen to your favorite MP3 songs, watch movies that you have converted from DVDs with the included software, as well as read e-books in TXT format. This essentially turns your Nintendo DS or DS Lite into a full-fledged multimedia entertainment unit.

3. BOOT SLOT 2: This menu option allows the R4 DS, like the M3 DS, to boot the GBA slot, or slot 2, on your Nintendo DS / DS Lite console. This is for those of us who also want to get our hands on a GBA Flash card and want to run GBA Homebrew games and applications, as well as Nintendo DS. It also adds extra storage for NDS Homebrew, because you can actually use a GBA Flash card to start NDS files, as long as you use the R4 DS as a PASSME / PASSCARD solution.

Overall, no matter which one you get, both the R4 DS Slot 1 solution and the M3 DS Simply are excellent accessories for the Nintendo DS / DS Lite. The one you get should only depend on the model in stock. As stated earlier in this article, the two units are identical in every way. The only difference is the box packaging and the logo that appears when you first turn on your Nintendo DS.

Mindset: a summary

Dr. Carol S. Dweck was challenged by her student to write a book about the results of years of her research study. Dr. Carol S. Dweck took the opportunity and wrote this book, “Mindset: The New Psychology of Success and How We Can Learn to Reach Our Potential” in the hope that it will help the common human to understand that life is what you do and not what you were given at birth. She has written in simple language giving examples of ordinary people like her and her students, artists like Picasso, athletes like Michael Jordan, the basketball player and John McEnroe the tennis player, Marina Semyonova the great Russian dance instructor and CEOs of different companies name a few. In the third paragraph of your introduction, write: “… you will learn how a simple belief about yourself … guides a large part of your life … In fact, it permeates every part of your life …” Thus, it draws the reader to the book, making it one of its real life examples as the reader finds himself in these examples.

Dr. Dweck presents the two types of mindsets, the fixed mindset and the growth mindset in the first section of the book. She writes how she learned from ten-year-olds that failure can be turned into a gift with the right mindset. By giving them difficult puzzles to work on, the children cultivated their intellectual abilities through effort and did not give up. These children became his role models in his search for whether human qualities are things that can be cultivated or are things curved in stone. Each person has a unique genetic endowment, but experience, training, and personal effort go the rest of the way.

Dr. Dweck’s twenty years of research has shown that the view you take on yourself profoundly affects the way you lead your life. She writes that if you believe that your qualities and features are set in stone and cannot be changed, then you have a fixed mindset. And if you believe that cherished qualities and traits can be developed and cultivated, then you have a growth mindset.

Fixed-minded people believe that an individual’s intelligence, quality, and traits are a fixed quantity that cannot be increased. If they are doing well in school, then they are smarter than others who are not doing well. If they do well in sports, then they are talented at birth. They spend time showing that they are better at the qualities assigned to them, just to show that they received a healthy dose and that they are not deficient. If something doesn’t work out for people with a fixed mindset, they always blame it on something else.

Growth-minded people work hard to do better every time. They don’t sit around and see their accomplishments as the end goal. There is always room for improvement in their minds. They don’t have time to sit back and see themselves as the best or better than everyone else. They don’t have time to sit back and think that they have a special talent. They are busy thinking about how they can improve it and what changes they can make if something expected did not go well. For them, if something doesn’t go right, it’s not a failure, it’s a challenge to find ways to make it happen.

In the second section of the book, Dr. Dweck takes us through her fixed mindset research journey and a growth mindset journey through various pairs of eyes. Showing how these two mindsets make or break people in your daily life. In individual sports, he gives an example of John McEnroe’s fixed mindset in tennis. He was a brilliant player who believed in talent, not effort, and who worked hard. When he didn’t win, he blamed something else. Like when he blamed the system for not liking the game more. He would not be held responsible. Micheal Jordan, on the other hand, has a growth mindset. If he missed a goal, he would go and practice for several hours trying to figure out why he had missed it. In team sport, the author gives an example of Couch John Wooden, who was tactically and strategically average, but won ten national championships. Coach Wooden, with a growth mindset, tells us he was good at getting players to fill roles as part of a team. He cared about the feelings of the players. Fixed mindset like the one coach Bobby Knight chose players for their talent. He was an excellent coach, but he used the dictator approach to win. The winners were short-lived and broke individuals’ characters in the process.

In corporate companies, the author uses General Electric CEO Jack Welch as the fixed mindset who managed to humble himself to a growth mindset, and as his mindset grew, the company grew at the same time. Lee Iacocca, whose fixed mindset is good at getting the company to the top quickly, but then you have to get rid of him before he breaks it. The Ford Motor Company did just that and Lee Iacocca was not happy. Fixed-minded leaders are more concerned with being heroes and put their ego before the well-being of the company. The author gives an example of Enron as a company that broke the fixed mindset of high-echelon smart people in their hands. Enron hired smart, talented people and paid the ultimate price to close the business. Enron is a good example of groupthink in which executives indulge in brilliance and superiority and make catastrophic decisions.

In love, these two mindsets can make or break a relationship. In her research, Dr. Dweck found that fixed mindsets feel judged and labeled for rejection in a breakup. They also chose revenge as a means of reaching the person who hurt them. The growth mindset is something to forgive, learn from, and move on. The author gives as an example Hilary Clinton who forgave her husband and went to cancel to save their relationship. It takes time and effort to cultivate the emotional skills necessary to maintain a relationship.

Dr. Dweck ends this third section with the influence that the mindset of parents, teachers, and coaches has on the children in his care. In her research, she found that children interpret caregivers’ words of support and encouragement with a fixed mindset approach. This sets them up for failure. For example, “… You learned that so fast! You’re so smart …” is interpreted as “… If I don’t learn something fast, I’m not smart …” She explains that parents, teachers, and coaches They should refrain from praising who judges their intelligence or talent, but praise them for the work they do. She goes on to say that parents, teachers, and coaches should give children equal time and attention, regardless of their initial abilities. Children, in turn, will give their all and flourish. The author notes, “… As parents, teachers and coaches we are confident with people’s lives. They are our responsibility and our legacy …”

In the fourth section of the book, Dr. Dweck embarks on the most rewarding part of her job: watching people change. People are neither aware nor aware of their beliefs. Dr. Aaron Beck, a psychiatrist, found that he could teach them how to work and change these beliefs. And cognitive therapy was born, one of the most effective therapies ever developed. Dr. Dweck used workshops to investigate how fixed-minded people treated the information they received. He found that they put a solid evaluation on every piece of information. Something good led to a very strong positive label and something bad led to a very strong negative label. Growth-minded people are also constantly monitoring what is happening, but their internal monologue is not about judging themselves or others. They are sensitive to positive and negative information, but are attuned to its implications for learning and constructive action. Dr. Dweck also had a workshop for students. Workshops require a large staff to deliver the material. So the workshop material was put into interactive computer modules. The teachers guide their classes through the modules and call it Braintology. These mindset workshops put students in charge of their brain.

It is interesting to note how a simple characteristic like a mindset affects decision-making across a broad spectrum of the population. A kindergarten student, a CEO in a multi-billion dollar company, a surgeon at work in a hospital, a sportsman in practice and on the court, a chef in a high-end hotel, a selection dance students and a sports team. College students drop out of classes or drop out of school because they have a fixed mindset. A growth mindset helps you learn to deal with anger and deal with stereotypes of racial and gender discrimination. It is quite fascinating.

Bowling Green Kentucky Assembly Plant: Where Corvette Magic Happens

Located in Bowling Green Kentucky is the assembly plant where all the Corvettes in the world are produced. In essence, the plant is responsible for the magic that is known as the Corvette and has been the magic-producing plant since 1981.

Nearly 500 people are employed at the million-square-foot factory, and each year those employees are responsible for all aspects of the Corvette. The plant is a place where raw materials come together little by little and in the end you get a new Corvette destined for lucky buyers across the country.

As is evident from the 1981 opening, the Corvette wasn’t always born in Kentucky. In fact, the first Corvette race in 1953 took place in Flint Michigan. The first 300 were almost all assembled by hand, as the Corvette represented GM’s first mass-produced fiberglass car.

The following year, in 1954, Corvette production moved to Saint Louis and it remained the home of the Corvette until June 1981, when it was moved to Bowling Green. Previously, the plant was a factory for Chrysler air conditioning units and that meant the building would have to undergo major renovations. When all the sawdust settled, GM had created a state-of-the-art plant that was almost twice the size of the original building and production of the Corvette could now be accomplished using the latest and greatest devices for the time period.

Over the years, the Bowling Green plant would see many Corvette milestones. On July 2, 1992, the millionth Corvette rolled off the assembly line with all of GM’s great bosses present. That brand was truly amazing and represented the mainstay that the Corvette had become in America.

In 1996, after the completion of the 1996 model year, the plant was completely remodeled from the inside out to accommodate the next generation Corvette, as the C5 was born in 1997. Although the plant has undergone some improvements along the way since then, the 1996 remodel was the biggest change to the plant to date.

The 1.5 million Corvette was manufactured on May 28, 2009, and the number of Corvettes continues to grow with each passing year. Due to the dedication and devotion of those who work at the Bowling Green plant, in 2009 the Corvette was ranked GM’s best model and fifth in the overall industry by JD Power and Associates in the quality category.

Today, the plant is still running strong and is currently ramping up for the next Corvette model year. If you are a Corvette fan, then you should add a ride to the assembly plan to your “to do” list. An estimated 50,000 tourists visit the famous plant each year and many are lucky enough to see the actual production take place. GM is even offering an opportunity for those who have ordered a Corvette to tour the facility and witness the birth of their own Corvette. So whether you’ve ordered a Corvette, own a Corvette, or just like the American icon, a trip to the place that all Corvette Magic creates is sure to leave you with a smile on your face and memories to last a lifetime.
