10 reasons why Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are not the best of all time [GOAT] inSoccer

For most of the last decade, two names have dominated world football (soccer) more than any other; Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. These great rivals have broken countless football records, scored an incredible number of goals and pushed each other to greatness despite the fact that they are two very different football players, playing two very different styles in two roles. very different for two different clubs. The only thing that really connects the two is the ocean of skills that separates them from the rest of the players in the world. There can be no doubt that the duo now belongs in the pantheon of football’s all-time greats. Although any effort to determine the greatest footballer of all time is subject to generational bias, it should be noted that Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are neither individually nor collectively the greatest football player.[s] of all time for the following reasons;

Cristiano is not the best ‘Ronaldo’ to play the game: Despite his unprecedented achievement on and off the pitch, Cristiano Ronaldo is still not considered the best Ronaldo to ever play the game. Ronaldo de Asís (also known as Ronaldinho) and Ronaldo de Lima (the phenomenon) are the other ‘Ronaldos’ whose legendary attacking prowess is often compared to that of Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo de Lima was a more explosive and complete striker who would probably have been the ‘World’s Greatest Striker of All Time’ had he remained injury-free throughout his footballing career, while Ronaldinho was the entertainer who, in his prime, astonished constantly to the world of football. . Cristiano Ronaldo is better than other ‘Ronaldos’ in terms of constituency over the years, phenomenal goalscoring rates, general fitness and long career (due to low injury rate), but by sheer skill, explosiveness, technical ability superior and the ‘wow’ factor, the two ‘Ronaldos’ are better than Cristiano Ronaldo.

Lionel Messi is not the best Argentinian player in history: it is a well-known fact that for a footballer to be the best in the world, he has to be the best footballer in his country and unfortunately Lionel Messi is not both. . Lionel Messi is not the best footballer that Argentina has given. That honor goes to Diego Armando Maradona. Maradona (widely considered one of the greatest soccer players of all time) is a soccer legend who inspired Argentina to win the world cup and SSC Napoli (in the Italian soccer league) to their first and second titles of league [Scudetti] in its history. He is the author of the world’s most dubious goal (the ‘Hand of God’ goal) and FIFA’s goal of the century. There is practically a cult around the player in Argentina. Diego Maradona (and Pelé) is the benchmark for the illustrious South American nation when a new star arrives on the bloc. Thus, while Messi has dazzled on the European stage, surpassing milestone after milestone and collecting lots of awards, his compatriots consider him the second best soccer player in the country’s history.

Both players have never won the World Cup: although the latter rounds of the current UEFA Champions League would rival the FIFA World Cup in terms of quality, with talent from around the world increasingly concentrated in the hands of a few elite few, the World Cup still retains substantial symbolic value as a quadrennial competition pitting the best of one nation against the best of another. It’s no secret that Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have never won (or inspired their respective countries to win) the FIFA World Cup. Cristiano Ronaldo has won a European Cup (the European Championship) with his home country Portugal, but has never been to the semi-finals or final of the World Cup, while Lionel Messi was disappointing in the semi-final and final of the 2014 World Cup with his Argentina, his country of origin, finally lost to Germany. The world (and Messi) was shocked when he was named best player and awarded the tournament’s Ballon d’Or. Lionel Messi is also a three-time Copa América runner-up with Argentina. Most of the football players like Zinedine Zidane, Pelé, Diego Maradonna, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo de Lima, etc. Often touted as the best soccer player in the world, they all played dominant roles in the World Cup tournament which they ultimately won. The same cannot currently be said of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

They are not the best goal scorers in football history: Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are efficient, effective and phenomenal goal scorers who have an incredible goals per game ratio, but they are not among the top five goal scorers in football history. Neither of them have scored more than 700 goals in their respective careers so they cannot be in the company of great players like Pelé, Romario, Josef Bican, Ferenc Puskas (he has a FIFA goalscorer award named after him), Gerd Muller. The scoring rate of these legendary players is more impressive than that of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo given that they finished their football careers with a goal tally of over 800. So if scoring goals is what makes footballers great, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, having better players with better goals ahead of them, cannot be the best footballers of all time.

Both players have been accused of being criminals: they both have problems with paying taxes with the Spanish authorities (the country in which they reside and play) and have therefore been accused of being criminals. After a lengthy trial that attracted so much publicity due to his status as a supremely gifted athlete, Lionel Messi (and his father) were found guilty of failing to pay their taxes to the Spanish government, fined heavily, and sentenced to two years in prison (he has since has agreed to pay a larger fine in lieu of a 21-month suspended prison sentence). His trial, guilty verdict, fine and (suspended) sentence damaged his credibility as a morally upright athlete who could do no wrong and that of his football club (FC Barcelona). Cristiano Ronaldo is also being investigated for tax evasion by the Spanish authorities, he could be prosecuted (or not), heavily fined and given a suspended prison sentence.

His total goal tally is littered with too many penalties: Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are the best scorers of their generation. They score an obscene number of goals in a football season, but almost half of the total goals scored by both players come from the penalty spot. In football, penalties are the easiest way to score because it only involves the designated shooter and a goalkeeper to beat. Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, being the designated penalty takers for their respective clubs, always take all penalty kicks awarded to them or their teammates, thus increasing their goal tally. In the 2013/2014 football season in England, Luis Suárez of Liverpool FC (before moving to FC Barcelona to become Lionel Messi’s teammate) won the English Premier League top scorer award and shared the Golden Boot European with Cristiano Ronaldo. him by scoring 32 goals in 33 games in open play without taking a single penalty. That is a record that Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo do not yet have.

They play for the most valuable clubs in football: Messi and Ronaldo play for superclubs in Spain, where the best teams score goals in droves. Unfortunately, the new financial order of the second millennium gave rise to the modern super team, essentially creating a certain form of predictability in both domestic and continental leagues. Lionel Messi plays for FC Barcelona in Spain while Ronaldo plays for Real Madrid CF also in Spain. FC Barcelona and Real Madrid CF are extremely wealthy and dominant football clubs that can afford to buy and amass the best and most expensive football talent anywhere in the world, which is why Messi and Ronaldo are always surrounded and assisted by class players. world to help them dominate. continental club football thereby raising its international profile. Both clubs always have a host of world-class players at their disposal, leading them to completely dominate domestic (Spanish La Liga) and continental (UEFA Champions League) football competitions.

The benefit of playing in the modern era: It’s almost impossible to compare players from different eras in a game that has changed so much over the years. Great footballers like Ferenc Puskas, Alfredo di Stefano played in an era where the game was played at an unrecognizable slower pace than in the modern era. That doesn’t make them any less great than Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. The game played today has changed due to changes in the rules that govern the game and the quality of soccer balls produced and used. Modern-era players are also fitter, faster and stronger than ever, but players (especially defenders) are technically weaker than ever. The Champions League expansions of the 1990s are also an advantage for the modern player: having a group stage allows for a margin of error that simply didn’t exist in the pre-1995 knockout-style tournament. It has never been easier for attackers: Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo would probably never score between 40 and 60 goals per season in the 1980s, when the rules governing the game and the balls used did not benefit the attackers (forwards), and the defenders/defenders were read. with world-class talent.

They are part of the rich history of football: we see the history of the game through our own national experiences, or at least we did until the modern era, where we can watch the Spanish league, Messi and Ronaldo every weekend. It is worth remembering that in the 1970s and even the 1980s, most of Europe only watched the European Cup and UEFA Cup matches of their own national teams. So here is a little suggestion; the next time Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo scores an impressive goal and someone on Twitter suggests that the debate (about the best soccer player) is over, head over to YouTube and spend ten minutes watching goals from Diego Maradona, Johan Cruyff, Pelé, Ferenc Puskas, Roberto Baggio, Eusebio, Alfredo di Stefano, etc. There have been many geniuses in the game, and Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are part of that rich footballing history.

Generational and positional bias in football: The hunt for the best footballer in history is like the Holy Grail. All soccer players (athletes) are products of their time. Because of the stagnant development of soccer relative to other sports and because there are so many different positions and so many roles within those positions, it’s hard to have a worthwhile conversation about who is the greatest soccer player of all time. Since the main objective of the game is to score a goal, top scorers such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo will always be at the top of any list of the best players in the game.

Conclusion; Don’t be fooled that there won’t be another player like Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, no one thought they would see another player like Diego Maradona.

The rescue of Jack Roush from NASCAR

It was Friday night, and Larry and Donna Hicks were about to watch the six o’clock news at their lakeside home in Palos Verdes Estates, outside Troy, Alabama. Hicks was a 52-year-old retired Marine sergeant major, now working as a conservation officer for the state of Alabama. He had gotten home from work half an hour earlier, and he and Donna had talked about going to the movies, but decided against it.

The news had barely started when they looked out the window and saw a small plane flying along the shore of Lake Palos Verdes.

“I wonder if he knows about power lines,” Larry said, just as the plane suddenly stopped, flipped over, and headed straight for the lake. Hicks was already running out the back door when the plane crashed into the water, yelling at his wife, “Call 911! I’m going to see if I can help the pilot.”

Fortunately, Larry’s brother, Wayne, had left a 14-foot aluminum boat, with an electric trolling motor, on the lake in preparation for bass fishing that day, and then didn’t show up. Donna made the 911 call and ran out in time to see Larry commandeering the passenger boat, heading for the Air-Cam, which was about 100 yards offshore.

Years earlier, when Hicks was stationed at Marine Air Corps Station Iwakuni, Japan, he spent two and a half months, part-time, in an intense Search and Rescue program. A major got him into it because he thought Hicks would be good at it since he was muscular and liked weight building. The training was specifically aimed at saving pilots who had gone down in the water in fixed or rotary wing aircraft. Hicks learned how to pull pilots out of planes that had crashed upside down. However, he remained in the telecommunications unit and never had the opportunity to use his specialized training.

The Air-Cam’s engine was hot when it hit Lake Palos Verdes, and the plane was fuming on the water. High-octane aviation fuel from a ruptured fuel tank floated to the surface in greasy patterns. The rear half of the plane and a broken wing were sticking out of the water. Hicks climbed out of the boat onto the wing and attached a line to the plane to prevent the boat from floating away. The strong smell of gasoline assaulted his nostrils. Only later did he think about the danger of the plane exploding.

The water was cloudy and Hicks had trouble orienting himself underwater. The plane had crashed in the middle of an underwater “stump field”, but fortunately had not hit any trees. The first time he descended, Hicks ran out of air and was forced to return to the surface without locating the pilot. The second time, he felt the back of the man’s head under his hand. After another trip to the surface, he took a deep breath and descended for the third time.

Larry’s military training, the repeated drill of what to do until it became second nature, took over: “Locate the pilot, extract the pilot…” Hicks reached for the pilot’s seat belt; luckily, he was one she recognized by touch from his training in the military. He released the belt and the pilot floated into his arms. Hicks swam to the surface, dragging the man with him. The pilot had bones sticking out of his legs and his feet were turned in the wrong direction.

The man was bleeding from the nose and mouth and was no longer breathing. he had drunk. The Troy police had already reached the shore of the lake. Larry yelled at the officers, “He’s not breathing,” and heard one police officer tell another, “He’s dead.”

Hicks dragged the man against the wing sticking out of the water and performed a modified Heimlich maneuver under his ribs and pulled up to force the water out of his lungs, then began modified CPR. The inert figure coughed up water and blood, then, on the fifth breath, began to breathe. “I’ve got him breathing again,” Hicks yelled to the rescue unit on shore.

Hicks gripped the plane’s wing with his left hand, lay on his back in the water, holding the pilot across his chest with his right arm to keep his head above water. He felt a stinging sensation from the jet fuel, which worsened until he felt great pain. He later discovered that the top layer of his skin had been burned off.

The rescue unit brought out an extra boat, put the pilot on the backboard and brought him to shore. Larry tried to follow the four rescue team members out of the lake, but his legs gave way. He and the pilot were transported to the Troy hospital.

As Hicks was being treated for gasoline burns to his upper body, he heard helicopters arriving to transport the pilot to the University of Alabama Medical Center in Birmingham. After a decontamination shower, Hicks was released.

Word spread almost immediately that a small plane had crashed, piloted by famed Jack Roush, a NASCAR and Winston Cup car owner since 1988. As a fan of airplanes, Roush’s friends had arranged to to fly the Air-Cam, a specialized plane built specifically for photography, as a birthday present.

Roush was initially put on a ventilator, with a trauma team working on him. He had inhaled water and gasoline and suffered closed head injuries, broken ribs, a collapsed lung, compound fractures in his left leg and broken ankles. He didn’t remember anything from the time of the accident until he woke up in the hospital that weekend.

Amazingly, six days after the accident, Roush was running his business over the phone from his hospital bed. By Sunday, he had arranged for Larry and Donna to fly on a private plane to Birmingham, Alabama, to visit him.

Six weeks later, Roush flew a plane from his home in Michigan and hobbled on crutches at Dover International Speedway in Dover, Delaware, overseeing his four-car Winston Cup team. Larry and Donna were next to him.

Larry Hicks has no doubt that a Higher Power was at work in the incredible rescue of Jack Roush. If the Air-Cam had hit the high-tension power lines instead of the support cables as it did, the plane would have caught fire. If it had crashed to the ground or hit a tree in the underwater stump field where he landed, Roush would have been killed instantly. If Larry and Donna had gone to the movies that night, as they had said, or had simply been in another part of the house, they would not have seen the plane go down and Jack Roush would have died. If Wayne Hicks hadn’t got the johnboat ready to go, there would have been no rescue.

But, most amazing of all, Hicks was one of a small percentage of the population with the specialized knowledge necessary to save a pilot in an upside-down plane from a watery grave. And, another thing was necessary to save Jack’s life, and that is that Hicks is a man of action who did not hesitate to risk himself to save the life of a stranger.

Epilogue

Larry Hicks was recognized with many honors as a result of his heroic rescue of Jack Roush, including the Medal for Heroism from the Marine Corps, the Carnegie Award for Heroism from the Carnegie Foundation, the Robert P. Connally Medal for Heroism from Kiwanis International, and the Society of the Sons of the American Revolution Medal for Heroism. The rescue story appeared in people magazineand Larry and Jack were on the cover NASCAR Illustrated.

Larry shows great pride in having adhered to the United States Marine Corps Code of serving his country with honor, courage and commitment, with selfless service.

Retreat on the Mexican Riviera

riviera; the word alone tends to conjure up pleasing images of beautiful scenery, of quiet serenity or relaxation, even of Paradise. By definition, Riviera is an Italian term originating from the Middle Ages for the Ligurian coast. The two divisions of the original Riviera, both bordering the Ligurian Sea, an arm of the Mediterranean Sea, are the Italian Riviera and the French Riviera. Retiring in either Riviera would be wonderful if you have deep pockets, don’t mind the 10 hour transatlantic flight and possible language barrier when you get there!

Today the term is applied more generally around the world to a dozen warm coastal regions popular with tourists. Mexico is wounded with two of those regions; the Mayan Riviera and the Mexican Riviera.

The Riviera Maya consists of 80 miles of Caribbean coastline that stretches along the eastern side of the Yucatan Peninsula in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo. It includes the tourist cities of Isla Mujeres, Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel and Tulum. This region is an excellent area to visit with its warm climate, sandy beaches, and historic archaeological sites; it can be a different matter when it comes to retirement. The average daily temperature for the “high season” from November to May throughout the Riviera Maya is 77°F, however, you can expect an average monthly rainfall during this season of more than 3 inches. Furthermore, the Yucatan area is threatened by hurricanes in the Caribbean Sea almost every year, with Playa del Carmen and Chetumal virtually leveled a few years ago and Cancun devastated in 2005. The topography of the entire Yucatan Peninsula is essentially flat with variations less than 500 feet in elevation, so it does not provide scenic mountainside retirement communities. This flat topography results in beautiful large beaches and shallow waters that attract the younger generation for spring break and other holidays with a very active night life.

The Mexican Riviera consists of more than 1,000 miles of Pacific Ocean coastline on the western side of Mexico that stretches from Ensenada in Baja California to Puerto Escondido and Huatulco in the state of Oaxaca. With the Sierra Madre mountains running virtually the entire distance, this coastline has to be considered one of the most picturesque on the planet. First dubbed the Mexican Riviera by the American cruise industry, today this magnificent coastline is the fourth most popular cruise destination in the world with approximately 300 cruise ships a year. The problem is that approximately 90% of this magnificent piece of land is classified as ejido land and is not available for purchase by foreigners. This land was given to Mexican citizens after the Mexican Revolution in order to farm or work and has not yet been regularized or privatized. The small fraction of land that has been privatized is found in and around tourist destinations along the Mexican Riviera where foreigners can buy property and hold title, like a deed, in a 50-year bank trust. Consequently, almost all of the retirement communities along the Mexican Riviera are located in the cities of Ensenada, Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán, Puerto Vallarta, Manzanillo, Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo, Acapulco, Puerto Escondido, and Huatulco.

To consider retirement, let’s take a closer look at the resorts along this Riviera.

Located just 70 miles south of the US border, Ensenada, known as the “Cinderella of the Pacific,” is a very convenient drive from most cities in the western US and not so far from western Canada. Ensenada now has a population of 450,000 inhabitants of which approximately 20,000 are American retirees. With beautiful weather and rolling hillsides, the Ensenada area has become a world-class wine country. Along with the wine industry, Ensenada has a thriving fishing industry, agribusinesses, a major gravel mining industry, six major maquiladora parks, and, of course, tourism. Baja California’s only deepwater port is in Ensenada, and therefore the worldwide shipping of products made in the area is another important source of revenue. The Ensenada metropolitan area is quite large and basically flat with mountains generally in the background surrounding the city. Therefore, most retirees reside in communities that lack hillside views or are in oceanfront condominiums. Because the region is more industrial than tourist, the cost of living is quite attractive in the Ensenada area.

Mazatlán, the “Pearl of the Pacific”, has 500,000 inhabitants and is one of the largest working ports in Mexico. Fishing, agriculture, cotton textile spinning and weaving, sugar refining, breweries, coffee roasting plants, etc. They are located in Mazatlan. Approximately 300 miles south of Mazatlan is Manzanillo, the “Sailfish Capital of the World.” It is substantially smaller than the other industrial cities on the western coast of Mexico; however, it has become the busiest port in Mexico with a large volume of containerized cargo. Both Mazatlán and Manzanillo rely heavily on industry and much less on tourism. Both industrial cities have beautiful beaches, good weather, reasonable costs of living, and facilities for tourists and retirees.

Acapulco is by far the largest city on the Mexican Riviera with a population exceeding 700,000 people. Due to its easy access from Mexico City, Acapulco was the first tourist city to be built along the Mexican Riviera. This popular tourist destination offers picturesque terrain, beautiful beaches, warm weather, and all the amenities any tourist would want. It grew so rapidly that the infrastructure could not handle the population; Consequently, over the last decade, Acapulco authorities have sought to improve infrastructure, clean up the city and beaches, and return it to its status as a world-class tourist resort.

Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo (Ixtapa is actually the tourist area where retirees hang out), Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Escondido and Huatulco are much smaller cities, each with a population of less than 70,000 people; Puerto Escondido and Huatulco, much less. These relatively new resort towns are built around fabulous beaches with magnificent surrounding mountainous terrain. Each has beautiful golf courses and other related tourist activities. They all have modern cruise terminals and “international” airports with 2-6 daily international flights. Being strictly tourist areas, there are virtually no other industries and therefore most local citizens speak some degree of English. Since these resort areas are still quite young and relatively small, they may be missing some of the amenities retirees are used to. Having small North American communities can offer benefits to some and disadvantages to others. The cost of living in these relatively remote areas can be somewhat higher than in more accessible and more developed areas.

The last and probably the most popular tourist destination, located in the center of the Mexican Riviera, is Puerto Vallarta; home to nearly 50,000 Americans. Puerto Vallarta is easily accessible from Guadalajara, has almost 50 daily international flights from the US and Canada (more than the rest of the Mexican Riviera cities combined), and has a Maritime Terminal that was recently upgraded and tripled in size. size to accommodate three large cruise ships simultaneously.

Puerto Vallarta is situated on the shore of the 25-mile-diameter Bahía de Banderas, which is surrounded by the Sierra Madre mountains. There are approximately 35 miles of coastal land, much of which has very picturesque adjoining hillside properties that have been privatized for foreign purchase. Retirement properties range from oceanfront condominium towers to mountainside villas, all of which have sweeping views of the city, the Pacific Ocean and the Sierra Madre with its native fauna and flora.

This city of 350,000 people is big enough to house big box stores like Sam’s Club, Super Wal-Mart, Costco, Home Depot, Office Supply, Office Max, etc. as well as many other mega modern supermarkets. High-speed Internet, VoIP phone service, satellite television, and all other modern conveniences are available in PV. Four new modern hospitals with sophisticated equipment and highly trained doctors are now in Vallarta, as are several modern dental clinics. The area has always had world-class sport fishing and now boasts 8 magnificent signature golf courses, a new convention center, botanical gardens, new parks, and numerous sites to visit. Since Vallarta’s only industry is tourism, communications are never a barrier.

The cost of living in Vallarta is about average for the Mexican Riviera, but a fraction of that for Pebble Beach, where the scenery may be comparable, but the weather is not! Being on the same latitude as Maui, Hawaii, the average daily temperature in Vallarta during the winter months of November through May is 73°F with virtually no chance of rain; that is, the weather is perfect for any activity that pleases you and every activity imaginable is available!

As you can easily see, there is a reason for Puerto Vallarta’s popularity; basically it has it all! So whether you arrive via one of the 300 Mexican Riviera cruise ships or one of the 50 daily flights, you really should consider Puerto Vallarta on the Mexican Riviera as your retirement residence. After all, not only is it about 2-4 hours away, but it’s probably the only Riviera you’ll be able to afford, except maybe your dad’s old Buick!

Foreclosure and Bankruptcy: What Everyone Facing Foreclosure Should Know

If you’re worried about losing your home to foreclosure and you’re falling behind on your mortgage payments, there are some financially smart things you can do to save your home. It is best to learn about the foreclosure laws in our state and understand the well-documented case law. You should probably immediately seek the professional advice of a bankruptcy attorney who has dealt with these issues if you want to avoid foreclosure.

Did you know that once you file Chapter 7 bankruptcy in California, the bank cannot hold a foreclosure sale during the proceedings, which takes 3-4 months? The lender can ask the judge to get around that general rule and foreclose early or order a foreclosure sale, but it is rarely granted without extenuating circumstances.

In chapter 13 bankruptcy, you will have to keep up with your mortgage payments and/or make a deal with your lender, otherwise the lender can ask the judge to foreclose anyway. Depending on your relationship with your lender and his or her good faith, the judge will sometimes allow it. Again, it’s best to ask your bankruptcy attorney what to do and how to do it to give yourself the best chance of keeping your home when you’re done.

Can you stay in your home after foreclosure in California?

It turns out that he can stay in his house after foreclosure and until the final sale, although that would be sealing the deal. Generally speaking, after a foreclosure, the actual sale takes 2 months to a year. This is the case for both judicial and non-judicial foreclosures.

In fact, in California, there is a terrible problem where the family that once lived in the house before foreclosure leaves as requested, but then a new party, a homeless squatter, moves in and stays. in the house until it is sold, often even the new owners try to move out. Sometimes the new owners have to go and get an eviction notice, which also takes time. It’s an interesting world we live in, but that’s what’s happening here in California.

In Ventura County, there have been a large number of cases where this has happened. Squatters learn about loopholes in the law on the Internet, often by watching YouTube videos. Some of the advice is rubbish, some is valid. Either way, it is causing a problem in neighborhoods around the Ventura County area and in nearby adjacent neighborhoods that are in Los Angeles County.

Can You Buy a New Home After Filing Chapter 7 Bankruptcy?

The answer to this question might surprise you. After all, people assume that filing for bankruptcy is the kiss of death, and your credit will skyrocket forever or at least a decade. not so In fact, 24 months after the date your bankruptcy is complete, you will be able to qualify for a home loan and mortgage as long as you have adequate income at that time to pay the loan payments.

For Chapter 13 bankruptcy, the situation is similar, but there are other things you need to know and you should contact a bankruptcy attorney in your area who specializes in these places to get all the right details.

What can I keep of my house if the bank forecloses?

This is a very important question, and if you get it wrong, you could end up in jail for grand theft. You cannot bring solar panels, water heaters or any built-in appliances. Don’t try to take away garbage disposals, trash compactors, built-in kitchens, dishwashers, or air conditioning systems. You can’t take burglar alarms, smoke detectors, or smart home systems that are built into the home as an integrated system. You can carry televisions, refrigerators, and washers and dryers.

An exterior patio system that is anchored to the home on one or more sides or the top may not be brought in. Basically, the law says that you can’t take anything attached to the building or land. Again, take these rules seriously and if you have any questions, consult your bankruptcy attorney. If you have to leave and you’ve exhausted all other avenues, do it right. You don’t want to start your fresh start with a new criminal conviction; that doesn’t look good on any resume.

There Are Ways to Prevent Foreclosure in California

The easiest way is to ask your lender for a loan modification. The bank doesn’t want to repossess your house, it just wants to get paid. Therefore, it is in their best interest to work out a favorable settlement that will have you making payments again until the mortgage is paid off in full. Sometimes lenders don’t budge an inch on the first request, but when a lawyer contacts them on his behalf, it’s amazing what he can negotiate.

If you pay off your mortgage, the lender can’t foreclose, obviously, which is one more option. Get a loan from another source and pay off the mortgage. You can also sell your house at a short sale or for the remaining amount of the mortgage. Although you won’t get any principal back, your credit will be excellent after you’ve paid it off.

Other considerations

After the 2008 real estate crash, many managers made mistakes on paperwork. The court no longer takes his word on the borrower. If they made a serious mistake, your attorney will now be in a very favorable position to negotiate for you. At the very least, your bankruptcy and foreclosure attorney will get the lender to start the process all over again, and at best, could save you tens of thousands of dollars and a truly stellar renegotiated mortgage rate and terms. Make sure you learn all the facts.

What’s in a name? The importance of titles in fiction

“…what we call a rose by any other name would smell just as sweet,” Shakespeare reminds us. And it’s true for most things in the world, but not in the world of books; especially fiction. Here is my take on things.

Ernest Hemingway believed that a title should have magic. I’ll buy that. A boring title can kill a good book. An inspirational one can help make it a bestseller. In my opinion, a title should at least hint at the genre and tone of the work. It should be intriguing. It must also be unique; a writer should always compare his title with existing works. Type your title into a search engine or on Amazon.com and you’ll know if your title is original or someone else has beaten you to it. I have often found several books with the same title, so be careful.

It can be a single word like: venom, revenge, or two: poison harvestor a complete sentence: Vengeance wears black. It shouldn’t be too long, as short titles seem to work best.

In 1924, a young writer submitted a manuscript of a novel to Charles Scribner’s Sons entitled Trimalchio in West Egg. The publisher hated the title and suggested the author make a change. The writer came back with several other titles, all thumbs down. finally settled down The Great Gatsby. A good move don’t you think?

Although it is not a fiction book, when I was a young anthropology student I was introduced to the great work of Bronislaw Malinowski: Western Pacific Argonauts; that’s a great title. But he could just as easily have been called: An ethnography of the people of the Trobriand Islands in the archipelagos of Melanesian New Guinea because that’s what it was. What is the best title?

It is said that you don’t get a second chance to make a first impression. And what agents and publishers say is that the title of a book is the best impression of your work and of you as an author. It is the title of a manuscript that first captures the interest of the publisher’s editor. More than the cover of a book, it is the title on the spine that drives the bookstore finder to find a book and download it. And then if he or she likes the publisher’s cover and blurb, maybe they’ll buy.

Book titles have always fascinated me. For a while, I wondered how great writers came up with their inspirational titles. Hemingway, for example, who gave us:

For whom the Bell Tolls

goodbye to arms

The sun also rises

And what vision inspired John Steinbeck to create:

east of eden

the grapes of wrath

in dubious battle

Then I discovered the worldly truth. They were stolen. They were robbed, robbed or borrowed. Have a look.

For whom the Bell Tolls. meditation seventeenth, John Donne

Farewell to arms. goodbye to armsGeorge Peel

The sun also rises. Ecclesiastes 1:5

East of Eden. Genesis 4:16

The grapes of wrath. The Battle Hymn of the RepublicJulia Ward-Howe

In Doubtful Battle. lost paradiseJohn Milton

F. Scott Fitzgerald took Tender is the night from John Keats poem ode to a nightingale. Thackeray has vanity fair by John Bunyan Pilgrim’s Progress. James Jones’ first novel: From here to eternity it was a bestseller, received critical acclaim, and earned him a National Book Award. Based on his experiences in World War II, it was made into a successful movie starring Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr. Frank Sinatra made a hit record of the theme song. He made Jones rich and set him on the path to literary success. But it was Rudyard Kipling who provided the title:

Knight-rankers on a spree,

Damned from here to Eternity,

God have mercy on people like us.

The list of writers who outsourced in this way is endless and includes Somerset Maugham, George Bernard Shaw, Eugene O’Neil, Aldous Huxley, William Faulkner, and many more.
