Is the Revo Styler a good buy? Find out in this review

Wondering if the Revo Styler is a good buy? I’m sure you’ve seen this product on the late night infomercials. This hair styling product is a handheld rotating round brush. It claims that it adds shine, volume and vibrancy to your hair. I personally own this product and wanted to provide a review to help you decide if this product is right for you.

What is different about the Revo Hair Styler? The brush is made of nylon and boar bristles. Nylon bristles help bring hair to the brush. There’s a reason they use boar hair in brushes. Boar bristle smoothes hair and adds texture and shine. In addition to that, the rotating brush helps to style and add volume to the hair.

The Revo Styler works as follows

1. The instructions say you should wash your hair and partially dry it. It specifically tells you not to use hair products on your hair before using the Revo Styler.

2. You hold the brush a few inches from your head and smooth the entire length of the hair down to the scalp. The brush can rotate at slow or fast speed. A switch allows you to change the direction of rotation. Until you get used to the brush, use the low speed.

3. The instructions suggest that you use small sections of the hair. When you are using the brush, be very careful that your hair does not get tangled. It doesn’t hurt if your hair gets tangled. The brush has a safety lock and stops if it encounters too much resistance. Also, it is easy to detangle without damaging the hair.

4. Once you start to comb your hair, you may find it uncomfortable to use. It is heavy, which makes it difficult to hold. It may take up to a couple of weeks to get used to it.

The Revo Styler comes with the following

  • Large rotating brush
  • styling brush
  • charging cradle
  • sectioning clip
  • a comb
  • Ten minute instructional video
  • six page manual
  • The complete set costs $80. You can also purchase a smaller styling brush for an additional $20.

Advantage

  • Create a beautiful salon look.
  • If you have arthritis in your fingers and hands, it’s much easier to use the revo styler than a regular round brush.
  • Your hair will feel cleaner for longer because you don’t use any styling products.
  • You are able to give your hair a lot of body.
  • The brush stays charged for two weeks straight.
  • Shortens drying and styling time.

Disadvantages

  • Your arms get tired with the styler.
  • It is quite expensive with a price tag of $80.
  • The brush does not comb your hair in ten minutes as the manufacturers claim. It takes about 20 minutes.
  • Not the best product for performance and ease until you get used to it.
  • If your hair length is past your neck, your hair can get caught in the brush.
  • It takes up a lot of space in a small bathroom.

hand tips

Almost dry your hair completely first and then finish with the Revo Styler. This way you can use both hands for the blow dryer and then for the styler. Also use lots of hair clips and use small sections of hair while styling with the brush.

The Revo Styler is a great styling tool, but it takes a bit of getting used to. There is an instructional video that comes along with it. It really helps to visually see how to use the brush. Personally, I am impressed with the ability to straighten, add volume and nice soft curls to my hair. All at the same time!
