I see a lot of my spouse’s father in him, I don’t like his father so that’s a big turn off

After you’ve been with the same person for quite some time or are comfortably married, it’s very normal to feel like your spouse has changed a bit. This makes sense if you think about it. No one stays exactly the same throughout their lives. And many of us know our spouses when they were much younger than they are today. So they can seem full of life, rebellious or adventurous when we first meet them. But then, many years later, they may be settled and somewhat more conservative. This is the natural order of things and does not always cause problems.

But it can be problematic if the changes in your spouse particularly worry you or if they remind you of something (or someone) that causes you a negative reaction.

You may hear someone say, “I grew up in the same neighborhood as my husband. I’ve known him for most of my life. When we were kids, we used to play together because our moms were really good friends. So, I went through a lot time in his childhood home and I know his parents very well. I have never liked his father. He is stern, old-fashioned, pompous and very critical. Just his tone of voice irritates me. I used to avoid my husband’s house at night because he knew that was when his father would come. And then the atmosphere in the house would change. The laughing would stop. And everyone would get so much more tense. One thing I always loved about my husband was that he looked so much alike. to his mother who is gentle and kind. His mom always laughed and loved to invite the neighborhood kids over.So I figured my husband was going to be a husband and father much like his own mother.I used to be that. When we were newlyweds and young parents, my husband was exactly l what i anticipated But, in the last five years or so, I’ve seen more and more of my husband’s father in him. Lately, he always acts like the world is out to get him or rip him off. He is impatient and critical. Worse yet, when I hear my husband’s voice, that screeching tone is the same as his father’s. He drives me crazy and it’s a big turn off. I know the great irony of this is that I am complaining about my husband’s critical personality while criticizing him. But I guess I’m very disappointed because I always really disliked his father. And now I feel like I have a father’s version of him living in my own house.”

What you are seeing is normal: There is an old saying that eventually we all become our parents. I don’t believe this. And I really hope it’s not true because I would never want to be like my mother. I love my mom, but her view of her life is very negative, and as a result, people often feel tense around her. Still, sometimes when my reserves are low, I hear something come out of my own mouth and it literally stops me because she sounds like my mother. I’m always disappointed in myself because for years I vowed never to be like my mother.

But when you think about it, how could I not, at least in some way, echo what I grew up hearing? My mother was my same-sex role model for almost 18 years. When you grow up seeing that person and experiencing how they live their lives and handle everyday problems, then at least a little will rub off on you, even if you reject much of their personality.

I suspect this is the case with your husband. This does not make him a bad person. It doesn’t mean that he identifies with his father and has a similar personality or even similar beliefs. In fact, he would doubt it since his previous personality reflected his mother’s.

But it’s all too easy to resort to negative patterns and examples in times of stress, even if that’s the last thing we want or intend to do. I would suspect that her husband’s father comes out on him when he’s anxious, scared, or angry. Her husband may have a stronger mental image of her father in stressful situations, as her mother was not often in stressful situations, she being the kinder and more optimistic of the two.

Understanding this is important because it helps you at least feel some empathy. And it can help you understand that your husband isn’t necessarily a bad person and suddenly doesn’t necessarily have the personality of his father. He hasn’t become his father. He’s just seen this behavior for much of his formative years, so he can’t help it from coming up sometimes.

Think for just a second if you have ever sounded like your own mother. I think we all have it, even if we don’t realize it. I’m not saying this to suggest that it’s okay for her husband to act like her father. I’m just saying it’s natural and very common.

Ending this in a positive way: But the real problem is how to stop it, or at least tone it down a bit so it doesn’t continue to erode your marriage. The first part of my suggestion would be to not sound judgmental when you bring this up. The last thing you want to do is get mad and say something like, “Do you hear yourself? You sound exactly like your dad. And he drives me crazy. You know I hate your dad.” My husband does something in this situation that is quite effective and does not deteriorate our relationship. He brings this to my attention in the form of a joke. My mother is a worrier who always sees everything as a borderline disaster. In some situations, I can be like that. When this comes up and he’s driving my husband crazy, he addresses me using my mother’s name. He will say: “yes (my mother’s name), everything is horrible.”

That’s her way of telling me I’m sounding like my mom. But she says it jokingly. I understand the message. But neither of us is angry. She can try a similar approach and insert her husband’s father’s name when she behaves like him. So if her husband was impatient and her father’s name was Bob, she would say, “Wait Bob, it’s not as bad as that.”

Is there something else?: Finally, if this doesn’t help and you don’t feel relieved when you use humor, ask yourself if this is really the core of the problem. Maybe the voice is just a trigger indicating anger towards her husband for something else. But you can’t fix it until you address what it really is.

NutriFeron Review

This review will take a closer look at NurtiFeron. It is an immune system boosting supplement offered by Shaklee that is designed to increase your body’s own production of interferon.

According to Wikipedia, interferons are proteins produced and released by host cells in response to the presence of pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria or parasites, or tumor cells. They allow communication between cells to trigger the protective defenses of the immune system that eradicate pathogens or tumors. Interferons have other functions: they activate immune cells, such as natural killer cells and macrophages; increase recognition of infection or tumor cells by upregulating antigen presentation to T lymphocytes; and increase the ability of uninfected host cells to resist new virus infections. Certain host symptoms, such as muscle pain and fever, are related to interferon production during infection.

In 1954, world-renowned immunologist Dr. Yasuhiko Kojima first discovered interferon. After 40 years of research, testing hundreds of natural compounds, he developed a unique combination of four powerful plant extracts that increases the body’s natural production of interferon. He named it NutriFeron and it is the only dietary supplement available in the US created by the man who discovered interferon. NutriFeron is exclusive to Shaklee.

Interferons and EBV

Production of interferon, the natural virus fighter, is reduced in fatigued athletes, but can be restored to normal levels with a “probiotic” pill that contains the beneficial microbe Lactobacillus acidophilus. The drop in interferon levels may play a role in the faulty immune response against Epstein Barr virus (EBV), previously described in fatigued athletes. Most people have been infected with EBV; it can cause a number of diseases, including mononucleosis, and has been linked to chronic fatigue syndrome. However, interferon usually controls the virus. The researchers tested EBV in 24 saliva samples taken from eight fatigued athletes before and after receiving a 1-month course of the probiotic capsules. In addition, interferon levels were measured in blood samples. Before treatment, five of the subjects had EBV in their saliva, that is, they were shedding the virus because it was not being controlled; after probiotic treatment, only one showed signs of virus clearance. British Journal of Sports Medicine, 2006.

Interferon for MS and Cancer Patients

Studies are currently underway on how interferon supplements may benefit patients with multiple sclerosis and cancer. At this time I found nothing conclusive, but I will continue to read the latest research. I read that it is being used, but it seems like every case is different, so I can’t say conclusively that it works for everyone. Talking with your doctor can help you decide if it will work in your situation.

After all my reading, I found that most people use NutriFeron to boost their immunity and better fight the common cold, gastroenteritis, and the side effects of PMS and menopause. Do your research and see if NutriFeron can be of benefit to you or someone you love!

10 Easy Steps to Beautiful, Radiant, Younger-Looking Skin

Sometimes life can get so busy that we forget to breathe and make ourselves a priority. The stress of being on top of everything can take a toll on our skin, and nothing looks worse than dull, tired skin. If you want to look and feel your best, you need to find time to stick to a skincare routine.

1. Cleaning (daily, morning and night)

No matter how tired you feel at night, never go to bed with your makeup on. Use a gentle makeup remover and make sure not to rub or pull on the skin. You should clean yourself even if you don’t wear makeup, to get rid of the daily dirt accumulated on your skin. Apply cleanser with fingertips and massage onto face and neck in circular motions. Wipe it gently with a damp cloth. Rinse your face with lukewarm water and gently pat dry with a soft towel.

3. Moisturize (daily, morning and night)

Moisturizers are definitely a must, especially during cold weather. For the day, use a light cream containing moisturizing and anti-aging oils, such as Pomegranate, Argan, Red Raspberry, Meadowfoam, Rosehip, which will nourish aging skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles by replenishing and protecting the moisture barrier. of the skin. Certain plant extracts such as Centella Asiatica, Rosehip, Gingko Biloba, Sea Buckthorn will enhance the cream’s ability to hydrate and revitalize the complexion, promote elasticity and protect the skin against the abuse of the elements. For maximum hydration, choose a cream that contains hyaluronic acid (ideally in its salt form, sodium hyaluronate, which is more easily absorbed by the skin). Hyaluronic Acid/Sodium Hyaluronate is the most effective moisturizer ever discovered and has the extraordinary ability to attract and retain up to 1,000 times its weight in moisture. Its moisture retention characteristic is exceptionally important for aging skin, which loses the ability to retain a balanced amount of moisture. Your skin will look and feel healthier, younger, firmer, and more radiant.

At night, apply a rich cream or oil serum after cleansing and toning. According to researchers at the University of California-Irvine, new skin cells grow faster while you sleep, so a good nighttime facial routine should be a high priority. Look for products that contain Avocado, Macadamia, Jojoba, Tamanu, Sacha Inchi, Shea Butter or Mango oils, which will nourish and repair your skin while you sleep.

4. Exfoliate (weekly)

Exfoliation is a way to deeply cleanse, remove dead skin cells and refine the skin’s texture, revitalizing the complexion and stimulating cell regeneration. It is recommended to exfoliate once or twice a week. If you have sensitive skin, you can exfoliate once every two weeks to start. Be sure to choose a facial scrub that isn’t too harsh for your skin and gently apply it in a circular motion to your damp face, then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.

5. Apply a facial mask (weekly)

A facial mask goes hand in hand with exfoliation. For best results, use a mask every time you exfoliate. Spread the mask evenly over your face, leave it on for about 10 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. You don’t have to buy expensive face masks, you can use ingredients that you easily find in your kitchen: yogurt, honey, avocado, bananas, strawberries, cucumbers, etc.

Resume:

Daily skin care routine: Clean — Tone — Moisturize

weekly skin care routine: Cleanse — Exfoliate — Apply mask — Tone — Moisturize

Having a good, consistent skincare routine is essential if you want to look your best, but it’s also important to remember that clear skin comes from within and what you eat, drink, and sleep can make all the difference.

6. Carbohydrates

Keep your skin hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids like water and unsweetened teas. Cut down on caffeinated, sugary, and alcoholic beverages, as they are known to dehydrate your body and skin.

7. Eat healthy

Certain foods can have a negative effect on the skin. Try to avoid dairy, salty and sugary foods, greasy and processed foods. Eat foods rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, such as flaxseeds or walnuts, essential for increasing the skin’s ability to retain moisture.

8. Sleep

Try to sleep between 7 and 8 hours each night. Use a silk pillowcase and change it every other day (daily if you have acne). Silk glides easily on the skin and prevents wrinkles and wrinkles. It’s also easier on the hair, which helps prevent breakage.

Sunlight is the number one cause of skin cancer.

Too much sun is not at all good for your body. Just ask a dermatologist and they’ll tell you that too much sun could risk much more than a serious sunburn. The sun’s energy is actually invisible radiation that is healthy and dangerous at the same time. There are two main types of ultraviolet (UV) rays that reach the earth, UVA and UVB. UVA rays increase the effect of UVB rays. They cause skin cancer, cataracts, aging, wrinkles and loss of elasticity in the skin. UVB rays cause a higher risk of skin cancer than UVA rays. Too much of any kind of UV rays is dangerous and fifteen minute segments in direct sunlight are recommended between 10 am and 4 pm

Cutaneous neoplasms (skin cancer) are skin growths with different causes and varying degrees of malignancy. This type of cancer is the number one cancer in the world and it is estimated that between one and two million Americans are diagnosed with some type of this cancer each year. There are several causes for this type of cancer, but the main one is the sun and its ultraviolet radiation. Skin cancer can be deadly, and it is strongly recommended to limit the time you spend in the sun or avoid it altogether. Anyone can get skin cancer, and there are skin sunscreens and supplements that can help prevent its damaging effects.

The main cause of skin cancer is ultraviolet radiation from the sun. Other causes can be commercial tanning lamps and beds, exposure to toxic chemicals, having a weak immune system, or inherited genes can also be contributing factors. Skin cancer is a disease in which cells grow abnormally and when they grow out of control they form a mass or tumor. Half of all Americans will have some form of skin cancer by the time they reach age 55, and the majority are 50 and older with fair/white skin.

Over sunbathing can translate into life-threatening skin cancer. Skin cancer occurs when mutations occur in the DNA of the skin, causing skin cells to grow out of control and form a mass of cancer cells. Skin cancer begins in the outer layer of the skin (the epidermis) which provides a protective covering of skin cells that are continually shed and replaced. A routine skin exam is important to detect skin cancer early, and it can be detected and cured if treated early.

The “it can’t happen to me” attitude can be a very dangerous and deadly assumption. Most skin cell damage occurs by the age of 18, but skin damage usually doesn’t show up until years later. Studies have shown that a single severe sunburn can increase the risk of skin cancer by 50%, and that a lifetime of exposure to the sun’s UV rays may be a factor in determining a person’s risk of skin cancer. person.

There are three main types of this cancer, basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and malignant melanoma. Basal cell is the most common type, affecting 90% of people in the United States. It is the least serious type of skin cancer. Squamous cell cancer is the second most serious cancer, as it spreads to the vital organs of the body. Malignant melanoma is the most serious and deadly skin cancer. It spreads rapidly through the lymph nodes or the blood to the internal organs of the body. Treatment for basal cell or squamous cell cancer is straightforward, and surgical removal of the lesion is usually adequate. Several methods may be required for malignant melanoma, including surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy.

Sunlight is essential for many internal body functions and staying out of sunlight will reduce your chances of skin cancer. Staying out of the sun will also reduce the amount of vitamin D your body needs to function properly. Vitamin D is obtained naturally from sunlight, but is also available as a dietary supplement and provides the body with benefits including the prevention of rickets, various bone diseases, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. One health-promoting hormone that helps form vitamin D is vitamin D3, which provides several positive health benefits. This vitamin is sometimes known as the sunshine vitamin and studies have shown that it helps with skin cancer due to its anti-inflammatory properties. Supplementing your daily diet with these tablets is an easy way to limit the time you spend in the sun and get the vitamin D your body needs.

Probiotics: A Solution for Bloating, Gas, IBS, Skin Infections, Tooth Decay, Diarrhea, and More

If you’re experiencing bloating, gas, irritable bowel syndrome, skin infections, vaginal infections, or diarrhea, you’ll want to read more about probiotics and the benefits of taking a probiotic supplement every day.

Probiotics are live microorganisms (bacteria in most cases) that are similar to the beneficial microorganisms in your stomach. They are also known as “friendly bacteria” or “good bacteria.” Probiotic bacterial cultures help restore your body’s natural intestinal flora.

Ideally, the microflora colony in the digestive tract should be made up of 85 percent friendly bacteria and 15 percent harmful bacteria. This balance is affected by the use of antibiotics, oral contraceptives, steroids, exposure to radiation (X-rays and radiotherapy), consumption of chlorinated water, refined sugars and other refined foods, and by poor digestion, poor waste elimination, stress and an unhealthy diet.

When the balance of good and bad bacteria is negatively upset, your body becomes overloaded with toxins, leading to chronic illness and disease. Taking a probiotic supplement and eating foods that contain probiotics will help buffer stomach acid and intestinal bile, increasing the chances of good bacteria surviving.

Benefits of probiotics:

  • Improve the digestion of food.
  • Improve the absorption of vitamins.
  • produce enzymes
  • Increase the availability of vitamins and nutrients, especially vitamin B, vitamin K, lactase, fatty acids and calcium
  • Helps kill viruses and parasites.
  • Increase resistance to infection.
  • Inhibits the growth of harmful bacteria.
  • Regulate the pH value by producing lactic acid, hydrogen peroxide. Increases the acidity of the intestine (lower pH value) and inhibits the reproduction of many harmful bacteria and yeasts

Probiotics treat the following:

  • Infectious diarrhea and traveler’s diarrhea
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • vaginal infection
  • skin infections
  • tooth decay
  • Infection with Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori), a bacterium that causes most ulcers and chronic stomach inflammation
  • Reduce the symptoms of lactose intolerance
  • Reduce cholesterol levels when they are high

Foods that contain probiotics:

  • Yogurt*
  • Fermented and unfermented milk
  • miso
  • tempeh
  • Sauerkraut
  • Some juices and soy drinks

*Not all yogurts contain active bacterial culture. L acidophilus, L bulgaricus, and S thermophilus are the most common bacterial strains added to yogurt. These bacteria are on the ingredient list. More tags indicate “live cultures” or “active cultures”, which you want to search for. Avoid heat-treated yogurt after culture. This means that the added bacteria were pasteurized, which can destroy live cultures.

Why you need probiotics:

  • Drinking chlorinated water destroys your intestinal flora
  • Farm animals are fed antibiotics to keep disease down. When you eat meat, you take these antibiotics
  • When the ratio of good to bad bacteria is reduced, problems such as excess gas, bloating, constipation, intestinal toxicity, and nutrient malabsorption begin to emerge.
  • Alcoholic beverages kill probiotics, encouraging the overgrowth of harmful bacteria and yeast.
  • The use of antibiotics directly kills all the bacteria in your intestinal tract. This is why probiotics are recommended while taking antibiotics.
  • Birth control pills and many other drugs damage the intestinal flora and the tissue of the intestinal wall.

How to choose probiotics:

You do not need a prescription to take probiotics, as they are available in supermarkets and health food stores. Taking probiotics when your body doesn’t really need them won’t do you any harm.

Consider the following when looking for a probiotic:

  • The type of bacteria, including the genus and species.
  • The potency or number of bacteria per dose.
  • purity
  • Natrol BioBeads are one of the most effective probiotic acidophilus on the market. It does not have to be refrigerated and only needs to be taken once a day.

Begin by taking at least 1-10 billion viable L. acidophilus or B. bifidum cells daily divided into 3 or 4 doses. Take them on an empty stomach or at least 30-60 minutes before eating. Take 15 to 20 billion viable organisms daily to prevent diarrhea caused by antibiotics.

Maintaining a proper pH balance within the GI tract is critical to the growth and health of probiotics. The pH within the small intestine should be slightly alkaline (7.5-8.0) and the colon should be slightly acidic (6.0-6.8). Without the correct pH, the probiotics will not work properly. To achieve and maintain pH balance, it is important to eat the right foods.

Something women should know about men, their emotions and love

In this article I’m going to look at how men handle emotions and the impact this has on their relationships. The popularity of the book by John Grays Men are from Mars, women are from Venus talks about the differences between the sexes when it comes to romance. While men and women approach love and relationships in different ways, I think these differences are exaggerated and that, in essence, men and women have the same needs and insecurities, we just interpret them differently. For this article I have drawn on the inspiring principles of relationship created by Chuck Spezzano Phd., founder of the Vision Psychology – an organization that specializes in helping people improve their relationships.

One of the most common complaints I hear from women about men during my work as a relationship coach is the way men are not in touch with your emotions. This can lead women to distraction because they tend to be more emotionally aware and expressive. Men generally prefer to solve problems using their thinking brain rather than their emotional brain. By understanding why this happens, women can help their men become more emotionally aware and dramatically improve the quality of their relationships.

Why men need to be the hero

Men strive to succeed in life and become heroes in any situation, be it at work or at home. We want to save people, fix people, and make things better. Many women fall for us when we act like this: we appear strong and control our emotions. The problem is that this show of force is often a way of avoiding our deepest negative feelings. Society educates us to be big, strong and powerful, but deep down many of us feel weak and lacking in confidence. We often try to act like heroes because we are afraid to show our weak and vulnerable side. The fact that we are men does not make us immune to the fears and insecurities that all human beings face. A sense of failure and inadequacy lurks in most people. Usually this is due to the breaking of ties in our original families which can easily end in feelings of guilt and shame for letting people down and not helping our parents and siblings. Instead of feeling this guilt and failure, most men will subdue their feelings and pretend they don’t have them!

Therefore, it is a real mistake to assume that men are emotionless. A recent survey of male moviegoers confirms that men feel their emotions just as much, if not more, than women when watching heartbreaking movies. Sneaky swallowing and battling back tears are often successful, but the next time you’re in a teary movie, watch for those hidden clues. I know from my experiences working with men and attending relationship workshops that once the tears start to flow, it’s like opening the floodgates. Big kids really do cry!

The sad thing about all of these heroic attempts to avoid our emotions is that they provoke the very feelings of failure that they are designed to avoid because they ultimately damage relationships. While in the early stages of romance, masculine stoicism is very attractive, it eventually becomes an Achilles heel. If we don’t feel and express our emotions, one of two things will happen. Either we will gradually move away from our partner and maybe immerse ourselves in our work (another place where we can become heroes) or something will come up that will force us to feel our feelings, often a crisis like divorce or a wake up call through a tragedy or disease. Relationships don’t fail because of what is said, they fail because of what is said not saying. When men choose to suppress their emotions, they jeopardize the most important relationships in their lives. So how can women help their men feel their emotions, and by doing so, improve the quality of their relationships?

Tips to turn your man into a true hero and improve your relationship

To form and maintain a strong relationship with a man, it’s important to understand that much of his behavior is designed to keep him from feeling and looking like a failure. Unfortunately, it’s highly unlikely that your man knows about any of this. His sense of failure is so well hidden that they will probably deny it strenuously or even angrily that it exists. This in itself is a protective mechanism to keep feelings hidden.

Therefore, you will need to slowly and gently encourage him to feel his feelings and become more emotionally aware; this is best accomplished by feeling his own emotions and becoming as authentic as he can. Men fall in love with women who behave like women! We love you for being tender, kind, empathetic, vulnerable, honest, and feminine. These are the natural characteristics of women and we cannot resist them because they touch on our own feminine aspects. Although many men find this threatening, it is a fact that we have masculine and feminine sides to our personalities. A woman can help her man to discover this more emotionally expressive part of himself.

The trick is to allow your man to be your hero. Not in the conventional macho way, but in an emotionally authentic way. The word courage is derived from the French word heartwhich means heart. True courage for a man is allowing himself to let go of his control and open his heart. Let him know that he finds you attractive and courageous when he is in touch with his emotions, when he can show them without attack or withdrawal. Make it okay for him to cry and for him to be supportive if that’s what he needs to release pent up emotions. He appreciates his openness and finds the courage to communicate his own fears and insecurities to him. Over time they will become more and more emotionally honest with each other and as their hearts open up, their love for each other will grow or be rekindled. This is a true aphrodisiac, so newfound honesty will enhance your bedroom fun!

Many of the problems we see in the world today are the result of men not allowing themselves to feel their emotions and let go of their fears. Emotional dissociation creates competition, power struggle, greed, and war. Women are already experts in the area of emotional intelligence and have a crucial role in helping their men unearth and heal their fears. Only then will we become real men and begin to live the more emotionally authentic and fulfilling lives that we secretly yearn for.

Minecraft Failed Brother: Scrolls

Mojang, the study that was valued in $2.5 trillion dollars by Microsoft in 2015, the studio responsible for the great success of Minecraft, which has been shipped 70 million copies He is also responsible for another game. That game is Scrolls, one that Mojang would probably prefer to forget about.

Minecraft’s long lost brother Scrolls couldn’t have had a more conventional start to life than his big brother. It was designed with a specific plan in mind, for a specific market, by a well-funded development studio, and with an eager audience waiting for any opportunity to play it. Minecraft lacked all these advantages. So why was Scrolls such a big flop?

Announced in early March 2011, the creative minds at Mojang described Scrolls as a mix of ‘collectible card games‘ Y ‘traditional board games‘, something that they considered was missing in the market. At the beginning of December 2014 it came out of the Beta development phase and was officially released. Then just six months later, in 2015, Mojang announced defeat. They revealed that active development of Scrolls would be halted and that they could not guarantee that the the servers would work after July 2016.

So where did Mojang go wrong? On the Surface Scrolls had everything going for it, from a development studio literally awash in money to a massive audience that was excited to try anything Mojang could produce. It should have been a sure hit. However, what we have seen is evidence that, regardless of endorsement, no development project is a guaranteed success.

The development behind Scrolls was stretched for a game of its size, not an overly ambitious project, spending four years in development or ‘beta’ before being considered ready for release. The release itself perhaps hinted that the game wasn’t experiencing a perfect start to life. Mojang suddenly announced the release date of December 10, 2015. Regardless of any preparation period, they decided to release it just one day later, on the 11th. At the same time, they lowered the price to only $5 dollars. Usually the price would go up, or at least stay the same coming out of beta…

Then there’s the highly publicized lawsuit with Bethesda over the trademark for the word Scrolls. Obviously, this isn’t necessarily a sign of poor development, but again it demonstrates problems with planning and development behind the scenes. It certainly would have been an unnecessary strain on the management team.

Ultimately, the problem that caused Scrolls to fail is a simple one. They did not have enough players to sustain the game. As the post describing their decision to stop development says “the game has reached a point where it can no longer sustain continuous development“. This is a clear indication that their player base, along with any profit generated, was not enough to justify continued spending on the game.

The sudden decision to release the game reinforces this theory, as his hope would have been to generate interest in the game by announcing a change outside of beta. But as seen in the announcement half a year later, it did not provide the result they had hoped for.

We don’t have hard numbers on how Scrolls sold, other than a tweet from developer Henrik Pettersson that it had shipped 100,000 copies on July 21, 2013. This is during the game’s beta period, and we can only assume it grew per release. But is 100,000 copies enough to support what is essentially a multiplayer board/card game?

Assuming a very rough one week retention rate of 15%, based on PC gaming figures here. we would be looking 15,000 players continue to play after one week. After several months, the figures are described as a 3-5% player retention rate. So hopefully we would be looking at 5000 players playing Scrolls for more than a few months. Obviously this is a percentage taken from a game, very different from Scrolls, so the rates are likely to be very different. Still, it goes to show how 100,000 copies doesn’t necessarily mean a healthy player base.

A multiplayer game requires enough players to facilitate matchmaking throughout the day, and at the time of writing, the online player count is around 25. This is no different from when they announced the cessation of development. The number of copies of Scrolls sold could have been considered a success for a single player game, but ultimately, for an online game like Scrolls, the number of active players is more important. Unfortunately, this number was too low..

The lack of player retention and overall low player base can be due to a number of things, firstly, while Scrolls received mixed to reasonably positive reviews from critics, it was plagued with issues with balance and missing or missing of aspects that for many turned it into a less than pleasant experience. Released content patches such as ‘Echoes’ were designed to some extent to address this issue, but were too slow or missing.

Second, a lack of clear communication of the developers and leadership in getting the game going. Minecraft is a very open game, one that thrived with both a single player mode and a player-driven multiplayer mode that didn’t require developer leadership, it grew organically with players creating mods, creating servers, and creating adventures themselves. However, Scrolls, being a multiplayer, semi-competitive strategy game, meant that the developers had to take a different approach, something they may not have experienced or expected.

Third, he did not receive the extensive marketing it was required as a multiplayer strategy board game. Minecraft was a game that went viral, for a long time it was tea game on YouTube and as a result Mojang never had to market it. On the other hand, Scrolls did not receive this free marketing and Mojang was not ready for it. They didn’t anticipate that in order to keep a steady supply of new players for an online game, you have to market it. A very similar game from much more experienced Blizzard, Hearthstone is still heavily marketed with ads, something Scrolls always lacked.

Finally, Scrolls was a strategy game, a competitive game. Mojang perhaps expected the larger Minecraft community to keep Scrolls marketing-free, but the communities largely did not agree. Scrolls’ initial success came from excited Minecraft players who tried it out, but what they found was a very different type of gameplay. Scrolls needed a different audience, but Mojang did not seek this audience.

Scrolls wasn’t necessarily a bad game, and it’s found a small but devoted fanbase dedicated to keeping it alive. Maybe they will. In the end though, what we’ve seen is a studio that doesn’t appreciate the full scope of what needs to be done to produce a successful multiplayer game. Maybe making it free-to-play would have been the way to go…

The effects of smoking while detoxifying your body

It seems that while many people want to detoxify their body to get rid of any toxins or impurities, smokers are reluctant to quit while using detox products.

One thought that some feel is okay to continue smoking while detoxing is that because the body breathes in and out so many times a day, the toxins inside the lungs won’t stay.

This is a myth, since the lung is moist and the toxin particles usually stick to the lung wall. This is rarely the case in the lungs of non-smokers, as healthy lungs have white blood cells called macrophages that remove these impurities from the body. Smokers have a layer of tar that clogs macrophages. Getting rid of the tar inside the lung naturally could take 10-20 years, which means the harmful toxins inside the lung will remain and you will be more notorious as a cause of infection and lung cancer.

Although the lung is quite unique, they are connected to almost every other organ in the body by the bloodstream. For this reason, this is why detoxifying your lungs is completely different than detoxifying your liver; although it can still be done for the purpose of removing toxins from this part of your body and helping reduce respiratory health problems.

If you are going to detoxify your lungs, it is important to ensure that you do NOT return to smoking afterward, as while addiction to cigarettes can be extremely difficult to break, it is clear that smokers who have cleared their lungs of the tar and nicotine that have accumulated over the years that they have been smoking often find the smell of smokers unpleasant.

Once you’ve cleared your lungs of tar buildup and feel refreshed with the many benefits of not smoking, including; ease of breathing and no coughing along with the added benefit of no nicotine cravings as the toxins have been flushed out quicker than trying to detox naturally, typically many smokers who have quit while detoxing have remained non-smokers afterwards.
