Find out which Temco fireplace doors fit your firebox

Typical Temco fireplace doors are created with tempered glass which is refractory metals. The main purpose of such accessories for your home is to ensure that your home remains warm and protected. Combustion chambers have already been used for many centuries. They have been carried out without the need for electronic and electrical devices for their operation. Today, as the modern age enters, people are looking for ways to make their home look and function better. New additions such as oven backs, air dampers, and non-vent systems are created according to market demands. Some newer versions of the stove also paved the way for the creation of today’s models that use propane and liquid gas to keep wood fires burning all night.

To find the best Temco fireplace doors for your home, you need to consider the installation style. Some of the cover models can only be used when the correct type of fireplace style is also present. The original Temco TLC36-3 combustion chamber opening, for example, requires a custom-made panel cover to ensure that the heat from within is utilized. This style has a frame size of 36 by 21 5/8. Potential clients of the design must present the manufacturer with the appropriate size of the frame. As it is a glass cover specially made from tempered materials, it is durable and strong.

One of Temco’s most well-known styles of fireplace doors is the Special Z door. This creation is made from an anodized aluminum casing that is encased in a 3/4-inch-wide frame. This design is perfect for use only in the type of fireplaces with no clearance. The model is also prepared for its installation as an internal fit to the mouth of the fireplace. As a whole, Temco glass doors are painted in finishes of all kinds. Door opening designs also include the double folding method and rail opening, which uses small rollers of granules to slide the door. Custom designed for your home, the protective shields will go a long way before they break.

Camping Food Storage: How To Stop Animals From Stealing Your Food

Birds, squirrels, chipmunks, raccoons, deer and more. They look cute, but when you’re on your back, be careful. They will easily risk rummaging through your food. Although many of these animals are small, they have a large, strong bite and their sharp teeth can cut through almost anything, their sharp claws can open most boxes and containers.

I lost a fleece jacket to a squirrel after leaving it on our picnic table for an afternoon with some nuts in a pocket. That squirrel worked its way through my zipper to get to the pocket and eat the nut pieces.

We have also had what we thought were raccoon proof containers invaded. The lids were ripped and torn and the food inside became a buffet for a family of raccoons one night.

Even some types of food coolers are easily breached by bears. With cunning paws, sharp teeth, and a desire to stop at nothing to chew up your food, the only animal-proof way to protect your food and containers is to hang your food or, better yet, when camping with your family, keep your food stored in your vehicle when you are not at your campsite.

Even dry foods that are sealed in resealable containers or bags can attract wildlife. Their sense of smell is far greater than a human’s sense of smell and even sealed food can become easy prey for them.

Also do not store your food inside your tent. You risk losing your store to the wild if they really want a sample. These animals can rip through fabric, rip through zippers, and will stop at nothing to get to your good-smelling food.

Our best advice is to keep your food inside the large containers and coolers you’ve brought with you camping. Just bring food for meal times and snacks. When you leave your campsite for long periods of time, place your food containers inside your vehicle. And never leave open food or any food item on your picnic table, dining table, inside your tent, or just lying around your campsite unless you want it to go away. Doing so will attract more animals as they will see your site as easy prey.

Some refrigerators are more bear resistant than others and if your refrigerator is very large and heavy, you can take a chance and leave it outside at night. It also depends on how friendly the area you are camping is. If there are bears in the area, you wouldn’t leave your fridge to chance.

Protect your food, protect your food containers and keep animals a safe distance from your campsite. They look cute but they don’t mind stealing your food. Don’t leave any food out after eating, keep all your food in containers, and place those containers inside your vehicle for an extended time outside of your camp.

Happy camping!

See more wildlife

Most people are not aware of the vast amount of wildlife around them. People venture out into nature, hoping to see…well…see something…anything…and are often disappointed by the lack of what they saw.

The key to seeing more wildlife in natural settings is not to look for animals as they appear in magazines or television specials. Let’s be honest; animals will not pose for you when you enter their domain. Most likely, they will try to avoid you altogether.

As a result of this avoidance behavior, animals will move to places where they are difficult to see, places that provide cover. Look for low areas instead of open spaces. Brambles and brush provide excellent cover for animals, so check those areas when looking for wildlife.

Another great place to see animals are those areas where the forest joins a meadow or stream. These marginal areas provide cover for the animals, yet allow them to take advantage of the adjacent land to find food or water.

When trying to see more wildlife, it’s also important that you don’t look for the whole animal. Remember, the animal sees you as a threat and will most likely avoid your sight. Instead, look for part of an animal. You might see an ear, a tail, or perhaps the lower part of a leg hidden in the brush. The odds of seeing a part of an animal are much better than seeing the whole thing, at least initially.

The time of day is also a factor in seeing wildlife. Keep in mind that animals are usually nocturnal or diurnal. The best time to see lots of animal activity is right at sunrise or just as the sun goes down. Most birds are most active in the morning, while other animals (raccoons, skunks, etc.) prefer to come out at night.

Whether you like to hunt or not, there are some wonderful game calling devices used by hunters that can be used to help you see more wildlife. There are some really compact and inexpensive radio controlled modules that can be used to call the fox or coyote. It is interesting that other types of animals will also come to investigate the sounds that these devices make, so do not think that if you are trying to call a fox using a distress call that a deer or other animal will not come. investigate!

Camouflage is also important when trying to see more wildlife. There are many ways to camouflage, both primitive and modern. The most important thing to remember is to split your outline and remove the straight lines associated with the human body. Typical commercially available camouflage does not do this very well. Instead, consider wearing a ghillie suit or a ghillie wrap (basically a ghillie-style hooded garment, similar to a poncho, that wraps around you).

Ghillie wraps offer comfort as they are easily put on and taken off. Also, they break up the human outline quite well, and people can also incorporate the local foliage into their build.

Make sure that before wearing any type of camouflage, you first check the local hunting season schedule. Some hunters, particularly those who are new and inexperienced, have a philosophy of shooting first and seeing what comes next. We don’t want to be accidentally shot, mistaken for a bear or other animal. I can hear him now, “Hey, honestly officer, I swear I thought it was one of those big legged critters.” Yes… please, let’s avoid this scenario.

Smell is also something one has to worry about when trying to spot more wildlife. You need to mask your scent as much as possible, and there are various methods available on the market to do this. One of the best and easiest ways to descend is to stand in the smoke of a campfire. Contrary to what some people believe, a slight smell of smoke does not bother animals. The amount of smoke you are going to absorb will adequately mask your odor without disturbing wildlife.

One final odor-related issue is the cleanliness of the clothing or ghillie suit. People wash off their camouflage and then go into the woods. Cleanliness is next to godliness and all that, they think it’s a good thing to do. Keep in mind that the scent of detergent announces your presence like a foghorn. It is important to purchase a detergent specially designed for hunting clothing.

Also, you should be aware that any detergent that has color-enhancing components essentially embeds particles that reflect ultraviolet light into your clothes, and some animals see into the ultraviolet range. Deer are included on that list, based on the findings of a 1992 study by researchers at the University of Georgia in Athens. His findings, you ask? Basically, when you wear clothes in the woods that have been washed with color-enhancing detergents, you appear as a huge, bright neon light to those animals that can detect the ultraviolet reflected by the color enhancers. The moral of the story, don’t wash your camouflage or ghillie suit with color-enhancing detergents.

Learning to see wildlife is not a difficult skill. Time, practice, and a little knowledge will give you wonderful experiences and memories of the great outdoors.

Hilton Head, SC – Paranormal Activity at the Stoney-Baynard Ruins

Legend has it that “Saucy Jack” Stoney lost Braddock’s Point Plantation to William Eddings Baynard in a late night poker game in Hilton Head SC. It was the year 1838.

The 1,000-acre plantation had been in the Stoney family since the American Revolution when Captain John Stoney, Saucy Jack’s grandfather, purchased it. It was a fourth generation heirloom when Saucy Jack received it from his father, Dr. George Mosse Stoney.

The winner of the poker game was William Eddings Baynard. That explains the name by which it is known today: Stoney-Baynard Plantation. Some records indicate that Saucy Jack simply went bankrupt and Baynard took the property at auction. But that version obviously has far less dramatic appeal. Baynard died here at the “Big House” in 1849 after he and his wife Catherine had raised four children.

During the Civil War, Baynard and other plantation owners in Hilton Head SC were driven off the island. The Casa Grande became the headquarters for Union officers. That made it the target of a Confederate raiding party, which burned and destroyed it.

The Baynards never returned to the island after the war, although they legally claimed the land. Thus, the property was left in its current state of disrepair, another sad monument to the devastation of the American Civil War.

The front of the house is easily located by large square holes that once housed the posts that supported a wide porch. At the rear are the remains of a chimney and an outer wall.

In their beautiful setting on the highest point of the island, these haunted places evoke happy family scenes of children and domestic servants playing together. A cloud covers the sun and they are swept away by a violent conflagration. If it’s very still, the imagination can catch the echo of the high-booted invader strolling the large wraparound porch of this haunted house.

Sometimes the haunting scenes of this idyllic setting are more apparent to the senses. In life and in death, fate has deserted Baynard and the shadows of his grim funeral procession can still be seen parading past his grave.

Legend has it that the rumor of jewels, gold and riches motivated union soldiers to break into the family mausoleum. Ever since, on gray and rainy days, Baynard’s ghost has been roaming the stage of his earthly existence. This is one of the true scary stories associated with paranormal activity in Hilton Head SC.

Test Drive Unlimited Oahu vs. Real Life Oahu

The accuracy of topographical features in the unlimited test drive is second to none. It is much better and more detailed than its closest equivalent: Google Earth. When you compare a real map of Oahu to the unlimited test drive, you’ll see it right away. Then when you compare it to its real life counterpart you will be very impressed at how close it is.

If you’ve ever seen Lost, you’ll recognize many of the terrain features and mountain range areas. Lost was filmed on the north shore of Oahu. In Test Drive Unlimited you can see these mountain ranges along the huge straight road that runs down the north side of the island. Many of the beaches look very familiar and similar to those in Lost as well. The biggest difference is that the long straight road on Test Drive is a dusty gravel road in real life.

Apparently, all the buildings in the city of Oahu are exactly how they are in real life. All buildings in downtown Honolulu are on Test Drive Unlimited. The biggest difference is that many of them at TDU lack proper company advertisements and logos, which is understandable and not really a problem. Imagine trying to obtain the rights and permits of all businesses and companies based in the city of Honolulu. It would take years, maybe years and it’s just not worth the effort.

As you zoom in and cruise around Oahu, you never get a chance to appreciate the accuracy. There are photos on the internet that compare the TDU scenery to the real Oahu. It really is identical. The biggest difference is that it can be said to be a game, but one with beautifully rendered graphics.

The most accurate, yet challenging, rendering piece goes to the Honolulu International Airport. You can see the runways, terminals, and aircraft hangars, all there just as it should be. Right outside the airport is the race track, and from the videos I’ve seen, that’s probably one of the most realistic representations of any race track. And all things considered, perhaps the most accurate race track ever seen in a racing game?… I’d defiantly say it’s a strong contender.

Top 10 Classic Sci-Fi Movies of the 50s

Are you a fan of black and white B movies like me? No? Well you should be! You’re missing out on some great movies. Some are so bad that they are good; if only for its entertainment value. And, some of the good ones are great! Either way, they are all classics in my book. Many, many great sci-fi classics came out of this decade, many more than 10. But I had to choose. So here are some of my favorites.

10.Journey to the Center of the Earth: 1959

This sci-fi adventure follows a team of explorers (3 men and one woman) through an extinct Icelandic volcano that leads to the center of the earth. Along the way, they encounter floodwaters, dinosaurs, a giant Gila monster, and as always, the evil adversary trying to stop and/or kill them so they can get to the center first.

At a time when women had little power and independence, this was one of the first films to portray a woman as a strong and capable member of the team, rather than the helpless damsel in distress. It had great special effects for the time. With big stars like James Mason, Pat Boone, and Arlene Dahl, it was way above the typical sci-fi movie of the decade. I didn’t see the remake.

9. Invaders from Mars: 1953

It scared the hell out of me the first time I saw it! It begins with young David looking at the stars one night from his bedroom window. He sees a flying saucer land in the sand pit near his house. He runs to alert his parents and insists that his father go investigate. His father disappears into the sand pit and doesn’t return until the next morning… but somehow he has “changed”. He sees a scar on the back of his father’s neck and realizes something has happened to him.

The nightmare expands as many of the local inhabitants are slowly “changing” as well. No one believes David at first, but he eventually convinces a scientist and a doctor that something is seriously wrong. Together they foil the invasion and save the world. The mummy-shaped Martians and their disembodied leader, with his head in a fishbowl and multiple appendages, are especially “creepy.” The remakes are fine, but I liked this one better.

8. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: 1954

A visually appealing interpretation of the Jules Verne classic, this film has inspired several movie remakes and a successful television series. It was the first and only science fiction film produced by Walt Disney himself, and one of the best in the genre.

With a star-studded cast including Kirk Douglas, James Mason and Peter Lorre, it is the story of a naval officer and his crew who are tasked with investigating the disappearances of ships on the high seas by a ‘sea monster’. . They soon discover that the ‘monster’ is actually a submarine-like ship led by the sinister and enigmatic Captain Nemo, whose only goal in life is to bring peace to the world by destroying all of the world’s warships. Great adventure and special effects.

7. The Thing (From Outer Space): 1951

Anyone remember Gunsmoke lawman James Arness? Well, this was his first movie. He plays The Thing, a creature that crash-landed in the frozen Arctic sometime in the distant past. His ship and his frozen body are discovered by a group of scientific investigators. They cut him into a block of ice and take him back to the research station where he accidentally thaws out.

They soon discover that it is a carnivorous predator as it begins to kill researchers and feed on their blood. ‘Es’ is very smart and begins to sabotage his research station. They then learn that it is actually a ‘plant’ that only appears humanoid. They have to kill him, but he’s 7 feet tall and apparently immune to all of their weapons. Luckily for them, one of the researchers is a woman, who in her feminine wisdom says: ‘So…how do you kill a turnip…cook it!’ Oh! What would they do without us!

6. The Stain: 1958

If you like Steve McQueen movies, this has to be your favorite. It was one of his first films. He plays a teenager on a date with his girl, when they see a meteorite crash in the woods outside of town. On the way to investigate, they come across a distraught man with a “sticky thing” covering his hand and arm. They put him in the car and take him to the local doctor for help.

Then the doctor, his nurse, and the old man disappear. Before long, other people begin to disappear. Next thing they know, this gooey ball has turned into a giant rolling mass of jelly that is sucking up everyone in sight. After seeing this movie, I couldn’t sit in a dark theater without constantly looking into the theater. Again, better than the remake!

5. The Fly: 1958

What can I say! It’s a story of maximum infection! The film tells the story of a scientist’s attempt to create a matter transporter and an experiment that goes terribly wrong. He tests the machine on himself, not realizing he’s not alone on camera…until it’s too late.

After watching the movie, we ran around our yards checking every cobweb for white-headed flies. The film stars Vincent Price and David Hedison. It spawned several sequels and remakes, all of which were surprisingly good.

4. Creature from the Black Lagoon: 1954

Long before Jaws hit the big screen, we were all scared out of the water by the ‘Creature,’ a reptilian-like beast-man who has a crush on a pretty woman (Julie Adams) he sees swimming in his domain, the Amazon. River. It was love at first sight. He becomes a beast-man on a mission while trying to capture his beloved. There were two sequels, Revenge of the Creature and Creature Walks Among Us…both equally creepy!

3. Godzilla: 1956

It remains the best prehistoric radiation-breathing dinosaur monster movie ever made. First released as a 1954 Japanese film called Gojira, it was enhanced for its US release by adding footage starring Raymond Burr and an English soundtrack.

The Americans have been testing atomic bombs in the South Pacific. Now there’s a giant, radioactive dinosaur coming out of the sea and attacking Tokyo. What to do what to do? After several attacks on the city, a scientist with a highly effective ‘bomb’ of his own saves the day. It inspired many sequels, including the updated 1998 remake. Loved it too!!

2. The day the Earth stood still: 1951

Still shown regularly on TV, this was the first ‘believable’ movie about an alien from outer space. Unlike its recent remake that has a lot of special effects, the original is a well-written sci-fi drama and focuses more on the story.

Klaatu, an alien ambassador on a goodwill peacekeeping mission, and his peacekeeping robot Gort, arrive on Earth during the early days of space exploration and atomic bomb testing. The extraterrestrial confederation that he represents has prohibited violence and aggression between its member planets; and the Earth falls within his region of authority. He brings us an offer and a warning: End our ways of war and violence, join the alliance and live, or face annihilation by his robotic executioner force.

The 2008 remake is actually the sequel to this great movie. Obviously, we did not listen to the warning!

And now, the best classic sci-fi movie of the 50’s…(drum roll please)

1. War of the Worlds: 1953

In my opinion, it’s the granddaddy of all sci-fi movies about alien invasions! The inspiration for many, many movies and TV shows is based on HG Wells’ sci-fi classic.

It covers 3 days during which a worldwide Martian invasion almost destroys humanity. The invaders descend on meteor-like ships and begin to terraform Earth by wiping out humans with lightning bolts, to take over the planet. We are unable to stop them and everyone seems lost until they all suddenly die from a mysterious infection caused by viruses to which we are immune.

It had excellent special effects for the technology of the time. My favorite scene is when the invaders send their wandering eye ‘camera’ into the basement of a house where there are two people; a scientist and a lovely lady (played by Gene Barry and Ann Robinson) have taken refuge. The scientist cuts off the camera’s head, prompting one of the aliens to enter the house to investigate. With their attention focused on what’s going on outside, they don’t notice him sneaking up behind them. He walks over and grabs the girl by her shoulder… YIKES!

I loved the original, but I have to admit the 2005 remake is much scarier, and it definitely holds its own!

If you’re having a hard time understanding what your child, husband/wife, friend, or co-worker is talking about, read on. You’ll discover 10 conversation starters that will peek into your world and open the lines of communication.

1. What faction do you play?

There are two factions in WoW: Alliance and Horde. Alliance are primarily human and are supposed to be “the good guys”. The Horde are not human and are like animals. Some would assume they are “the bad guys”. Blizzard Entertainment, the creators of the game, seem to like to blur the lines between good and evil. So asking your player what faction they play and why is a great conversation starter.

two. What is the history of the game?

Not all players follow the WoW tradition. But if yours does, he or she may have a greater understanding and emotional connection to the game. There is currently a HUGE buzz from expert players about Garrosh Hellscream’s rise to leader of the Horde. Asking about Garrosh could start a big tirade.

3. How many drawings do you have?

You can have tons of characters (or toons) in the game. But most of the players tend to have a primary or main one that they like to play.

Four. Tell me about the race/class of your main toon.

There are many combinations to choose from. But it’s always interesting to hear why someone is attracted to a certain race or class. Does your player like to play with the opposite sex? Cast spells? Do you prefer non-human attributes?

5. What level is your main toon?

Character leveling and the speed at which it is achieved is a great source of pride for many. If this is the case in your situation, go one step further and ask about their exploits and great battles. What makes your character special?

6. Do you prefer PVE? PvP?

PVE stands for player versus environment. And PVP stands for player versus player. In World Of Warcraft you can choose to interact (fight) with characters generated by the game or other players. PVP can involve duels, battlefields, arenas, and the like.

7. What are the professions of your characters?

Jewelry Making, Engineering, and Enchanting are just three of the primary/secondary professions offered in the game. As you may have guessed, your player can have more than one.

8. Do you collect anything in the game?

Pets and mounts are common collectible items in the game.

9. Are you in a guild?

Guilds represent the social aspect of the game. Players join guilds to gather resources, raid enemy areas, search, and fight in dungeons. Some guilds are competitive to join. Members must apply before being accepted.

10 How do you earn money?

There are many ways to earn money in Azeroth. But the most common way to earn gold is through the auction house. It works much like the stock market.

Modern Dog Crates: Fashion Meets Function

Man’s great love for dogs is also manifested in his beautiful creations for his pet.

Before, pet supplies and accessories never received much importance and attention. But now, exquisite designs, thoughtful details, and modern styles are now words used to describe pet supplies. One of the most notable examples is the sleek line of modern dog crates.

Baskets and crates used to be portable and convenient forms of containment, but since man takes so much inspiration from his pet, he has developed a collection of stylish dog crates. Wicker dog cages are becoming more and more popular. Made of imitation wicker, this drawer provides more comfort and convenience. More attractive than standard boxes, wicker boxes can also be great additions to home interior designs.

Today’s pet kennels have already been modified to not only serve as dog containment, but also become trendy pieces of furniture. Wooden boxes are created to serve a functional purpose as well. Having a reliable containment and at the same time a useful piece of furniture is really a plus for pet owners. Pets can use them as hiding places or shelter, and pet owners can place them in the areas of the house they want to design. Hideaway hardwood boxes are available in various sizes and colors. Some boxes can also become wooden nightstands. From being a cat toilet, it also serves a dual purpose by becoming a nightstand or pet house with side table for small dogs. Dog crates can also be turned into side tables that possess both style and function. Aside from wood, fiberglass also makes a good dog cage. There is a line of Zen-inspired dog crates that are handcrafted from fiberglass, making them ideal for indoor or outdoor use. AmericaOutdoor.com features a nice selection of wooden boxes.

Pet owners’ tastes are becoming more sophisticated when it comes to pet products and accessories. As before, function is the number one priority, but now attention is also paid to design and craftsmanship. While the numerous stylish dog kennels are truly overwhelming, pet owners should still think about their pets’ housing or containment needs before deciding to keep up with the modern dog kennel trend. The needs of the pets are more important than the design of their containment.
