Home Kitchen

Using surface protection to protect your home’s luxury furnishings when hosting a party

Throwing a party can be fun, exciting, and unfortunately expensive if your carpet and other finishes are damaged. From a red wine spill on your white carpet to ghastly pictures in the bathroom, it helps avoid trouble before your guests arrive.

There are several steps you can take to protect your home while also making your home attractive to guests. This checklist is just that: no two houses or owners are the same, so choose what might work for you!

  1. Ask guests to remove their shoes.: This will keep your rugs clean from dirt, snow, and grime that collect on the soles of your shoes. It will also show the original carpet as it is, without the lining. If you are operating home tours and showing, disposable shoe covers They are a great way to keep floors clean and show your commitment to cleanliness.
  2. Create a “Kids Area”: This will help keep little feet from running around the house to reduce the chance of spills. It also keeps noise down for other guests.
  3. Consider using a carpet protection film: Easy to use carpet mask can be used in a high traffic area of your carpet. This clear, sticky masking film protects carpets from spills and messes. If you don’t like the look of clear plastic on your rugs, rugs can also work in high-traffic areas. Carpet films make post-party cleanup quick and easy as they are quickly removed from clean carpet. Stairs are the most difficult carpet to clean, so using a carpet mask/film to prevent them from getting dirty in the first place is the best way to ensure your stairs are clean.
  4. Make certain areas “off limits”: There is no reason for guests to enter your master bedroom, bathrooms, or guest bedrooms unless they are invited. The fewer areas that are accessible to guests, the easier it is to keep your home clean.
  5. Provide small plates, napkins and coasters in various areas: This will help ensure that guests don’t walk in with that cheese sandwich dripping on their floors. Make it easy for guests to protect your home furnishings to reduce the chance of stains appearing on your sofa, coffee table, or rug.
  6. Provide extra trash receptacles: Making sure no one has to hold used paper plates or napkins for too long will help keep upholstery and floors clean and free up guests’ hands for more important things, like making sure your drink doesn’t spill. disposable and recyclable cardboard garbage boxes It can be used in many areas and covered with party decorations. A disposable trash can can not only collect garbage, but can be disposed of at the end of a party.
  7. Use toilet covers in private bathrooms: the plastic toilet covers They are a great way to remind your guests that this toilet is for “Owner Use Only” and that they should only use the toilets in the guest bathroom.
  8. Use door jamb protection: The caterer often needs to carry plates, serving carts, and food trays in and out of the kitchen area. Make it easy for them by giving them temporary door jamb protection which will prevent scratches and bumps on the door frames.
  9. Protect hardwood floors: use sticky, Surface coating steam Prayed clean and safe Floor protection to prevent scratches on wooden floors during deliveries. These hardwood floor protection products can also be used as runners in high-traffic areas of your beautiful hardwood floors.
  10. Clean up spills as soon as possibleTip: Before bed after the party, take a tour of your house and clean up any spills. Don’t let stains sit untreated for too long, as wine stains are much more difficult to remove the next morning.

Hosting a party can be fun and even better when you can relax knowing that your home’s protected finishes will continue to look great long after your guests have left. No need to stress, relax so you can be a great host and throw a memorable party.

Parenting – Tips for Successfully Raising Children

How a person is an adult is largely influenced by how they were raised as a child. An offender background check will reveal any of the following: (1) the child did not receive enough positive love and attention; (2) the child received no positive encouragement (children, like any of us, need validation) and, what is worse, was subjected to humiliation, eroding self-confidence and building an inferiority complex and low self-esteem; (3) the child was cruelly treated through disproportionate anger and punishment. When children do not receive positive feedback and a nurturing environment from at least one parent, the tendency is to seek acceptance and attention elsewhere, often through peers. Then when they become adolescents out of control, we think that is a normal process that they go through, and going through adolescence is the most challenging part because it is at this stage that they are between childhood and adulthood and on the road to find your identity.

Anyone can achieve successful parenting, even with single parents, and no matter the situation. Here are some sound words that can help you achieve this:

(1) Provide unconditional love and positive attention: Love your children just for being your children, not because they excelled in school or sports, not just because they show talent, but just because they are your children. Give them a lot of attention, communicate a lot, give them a hug or a reassuring touch, take time to listen to them. Attend school functions. Enjoy activities with them, do things together, whether it’s a fun activity or chores around the house. Children love and seek attention from their parents; whether they get it positively or negatively depends on what the parents reinforce. If they don’t get positive attention and acceptance from parents, they will always look elsewhere, and peers are their most likely resource. Create a stronger bond with your children and they will always gravitate towards that bond.

(2) Create a positive environment within each child: As children grow, they need affirmation of what they are doing, reinforces a habit or behavior. Therefore, always keep in mind to praise good work and achievements, no matter how small those successes are; for them, it can already mean a lot and this builds self-confidence. Support their interest and encourage them in what aptitude or talent you can see in your child. On the contrary, when he does something mean or unpleasant, do not reprimand him without telling him why, and if you have to do it, do it as calmly as possible and in private: humiliation, especially in front of others, creates low self-esteem and resentment. , and a possible start of hostile behavior. Also, NEVER compare one child to another. Always remember that each child is unique and has their own abilities or characteristics.

(3) Teach them responsibility: love but don’t coddle – even as young children they have to learn responsibility, like putting away their toys, making their bed, setting aside time to study, even sharing small chores around the house – this in particular 2 things, you teach them responsibility and serves as a bonding activity as well. Teaching them responsibility can also be done by showing them that receiving something they want is sometimes a reward for positive behavior, that in their own way they “worked” for what they received. Gives positive reinforcement and encouragement for a fact or action.

(4) Teach them to be kind and helpful, as well as to appreciate what they have. Teaching your children to be kind and helpful creates a kind spirit within them. Similarly, letting them appreciate what they have will create a positive outlook. When my children were growing up, and we would see unfortunate or unpleasant situations, I always told them how blessed they were that they were not in the same situation but at the same time, seeing how blessed they were, to pass it off as kindness. . The best way to show this is when they see this in you!

(5) Give them the gift of inner strength, to accept mistakes, rejection and failure in a constructive way – Knowing that it is normal to fail (and not be scolded for it!) and to make mistakes is a good teaching exercise children inner strength. from the beginning, that things happen sometimes and that the important thing is that he or she did the best they could, not THE best, and that they learned from these mistakes instead of sulking and reflecting on these mistakes. Another important way we can teach our children inner strength is to not give in to everything they want. As parents, we are sometimes guilty of doing this, but instant gratification every time won’t build character in kids, it will help them realize that they can’t have everything they want, but explained in a loving way.

(6) Put motivation in a positive perspective: When you encourage your child to do things, especially in school, teach him the value of doing his best, instead of negative programming. “Study or you’re grounded”: This makes for a short-term negative motivation, rather than teaching your child the value of her future.

(7) To a certain extent, involve them in the current situation; how you handle this will depend on the age of the children. Knowing the right time and the way to say this is crucial. Are you having certain financial struggles? Serious marital problems even to the point of divorce? While these are adult problems, they can be communicated to the child to some extent. This gives them a solid understanding of reality. The key here is to explain it in the least negative way possible without showing bitterness but rather acceptance and optimism.

(8) Learn when to apologize: As adults and parents, we are not infallible. Sometimes a sudden outburst of anger from a parent, or a false accusation, will send a child down. Learn to apologize to them, at the same time this also teaches them to be humble and do the same.

Successful parenting involves a lot of love, patience, and communication. The key is to develop a close and positive relationship with your children and they will come out on top no matter what situation the family finds itself in, even in the midst of a broken marriage or divorce. We only get one chance to raise our children: once they grow crooked, this is difficult to correct. Therefore, the greatest gift we can give our children is to raise them with the right values, attitude, and character.

“If we die tomorrow, the company we work for may replace us in a week, but our family will feel the loss forever. However, we spend more time with work than with family, an unwise investment.”

Natural ways to cure acne

Acne is caused by the clogging of hair follicles with dead skin cells and oil from the skin. It is considered a major contributing factor to low self-esteem in both adolescents and adults.

Acne could be a natural way your body gives you a vital message. Consider the following tips on how to live an acne free life.

1. Stress management

Your body responds to stress by directing blood and oxygen to key organs that help fight stress. In this process, your skin is left dry and therefore susceptible to clogged pores which can eventually lead to breakouts.

You can control stress by exercising as this causes the body to sweat and thus cleanses the pores.

Quality sleep also improves your metabolism rate, leading to reduced stress and ultimately zero acne skin.

2. Fast

Sounds weird, doesn’t it? Scientific research has shown that when you fast, your body redirects energy that would have been used digesting food to other activities such as healing, cleansing, and restoring your skin. This literally works for all skin types.

3. Watch your diet

A well-balanced diet is crucial in the overall development and performance of your body’s organs and systems.

Just like with body weight issues, you need to monitor your food intake to ensure you have good skin. Incorporate fruits into your diet, instead of junk food like pizza that has a lot of oil, which can be a nightmare for your skin.

Rich in nutrients and vitamins, fruits help in healing, cleaning and even maintaining the body’s PH, and therefore, good acne-free skin.

4. Hygiene

When oil from your body mixes with dead skin cells, your skin pores become clogged. This creates a suitable breeding ground for the bacteria, which can lead to skin breakouts. You can prevent these skin breakouts by making sure you shower daily and also wash your face at least twice a day.

Curing acne is one of the big questions almost everyone wants an answer to. We all want to have beautiful acne-free skin, as this helps improve self-esteem. To ensure acne-free skin, actively manage stress, watch your diet, maintain a high level of hygiene, and make sure to practice healthy habits like fasting. Enjoy the beauty of clear skin while putting them into practice.

Pets

Why does your dog wear sweaters and how to make him stop?

Behind every dog that pulls on the leash there is an owner who lets himself be pulled. If you have a dog that pulls, he thinks how often you have allowed him to lean on the leash and drag you in one direction or another while pulling just as hard or holding him tight.

Dogs and owners alike must learn that the leash is ALWAYS loose.

The leash is your connection to each other and allows you to go out together in public. Whether you’re out for a walk or just standing still, neither you nor your dog should pull on the leash. Your dog’s leash is both a training aid and a piece of safety equipment. To be an effective training aid, it should never be tight and used as little as possible.

TIPS FOR WALKING ON A LOOSE LEASH

Get ready for success! Make sure your dog has a vigorous exercise session (retrieval games are great for this) before you begin your training session. Remember, young dogs require a great deal of exercise.

  1. Get your dog ready to go for a walk. Put the leash on him. If you want him to walk on your left side, hold the leash with your right hand. Leave your left hand free to reinforce your dog with some tasty treats when he is giving you the behavior you want.
  2. If your dog goes wild and starts pulling, stop at this point and turn into a statue. Wait as long as it takes for him to settle. (Patience is very important at this stage of the game.) When he turns around to see why you’re not doing anything, reinforce him with a treat for looking at you and doing some moving mindfulness exercises.
  3. When you have your dog’s attention again, start walking. If he starts to run away without you, ask him to pay attention to you by backing up briskly. When your dog carefully follows you, reinforce him with a treat and start moving forward again.
  4. Reinforce attention with treats and praise and every attempt to keep the leash loose.
  5. If you charge to the end of the leash, stop and turn into a statue and repeat step 2 above.
  6. When your dog is alert again, repeat step 3. Continue this procedure for the rest of your walk. You don’t go forward when the leash is tight. When the leash is slack, reward your dog by continuing to walk by giving treats, pats, and praise.
  7. Patience, patience, patience! Until you and your dog can successfully keep off the leash as you go, think of your walks as training sessions. Don’t expect to circle the neighborhood on your first try.

Dogs do what works! As soon as you know the two of you aren’t going anywhere until you calm down, you’ll stop shooting.

Good luck and happy training!

Real Estate

The best real estate website to use

With thousands of Real Estate websites, finding the right one can be a challenge. Do a Google search and you’ll find the most popular real estate websites like Zillow, Trulia, and Refine. Once you get past the first page, even less popular sites now have the same home search features. So how does a home owner or buyer know where the best site is? Before choosing, you must first understand a little more about how they all started and what they really are.

For many years, if you were in the market for a home, you would have to go to the local Real Estate office in the area you wanted to buy a home in and ask to see a list of homes for sale. This listing was a hard copy of the homes for sale from the local Multiple Listing Service (MLS). The listing gave him basic information about the houses and some marketing insights. She scanned it, then asked an agent to show her houses he thought she might like.

This was great for real estate agents because, as ports of this information, buyers had to come to them. It also gave the agent the opportunity to show the houses that the agent himself was listing first. For the buyer this was not so good. It was difficult for the buyer to know if the agent was there to represent them or the seller and if they wanted to see homes in more than one city, they might have to go to other real estate offices to see other MLS listings. These listings could also be out of date and by the time you have found your dream home, it may already be sold. This process can be time consuming and stressful for even the most experienced buyer.

Fast-forward a decade or two and there have been some major changes. MLS went digital and consolidated into larger MLS companies covering even larger areas. Here in Western Washington we now use the Northwest Multiple Listing Service (NWMLS) and it covers all but two counties; Clark and Clalam. In the 90’s, the Internet brought the first Real Estate websites. Most of these showed the houses listed by the agents/agencies that own the website and were not updated very often. Some of the larger real estate agencies, the ones with the money and resources, began creating home search tools using data directly from the MLS. Now, for the first time, buyers don’t have to talk to an agent to find homes for sale and can get even more information (photos, schools, map locations, and up-to-date status).

Today, the price of producing these high-quality websites has dropped to the point where the average agent with the right skills can create their own. We now see an explosion of Real Estate websites and it seems that most of them have home search features. This leaves buyers confused about which website to use.

Now that buyers can get information from almost any Real Estate website, what do they need to know before choosing one? First, here in the state of Washington, any licensed agent can show you and represent you at any MLS listed house, no matter what website you find it on. Most of these websites have a mobile app or are mobile friendly. While most buyers start their home search online, what they don’t understand is that the website they use to search for homes is a lead generation tool for the agent. The buyer is exchanging his contact information for the use of the website.

This is not a bad thing. If you really want to buy a home, you’ll need answers to your questions, help finding financing, an agent to open doors for you, someone who understands the paperwork and can help you with negotiations, and a trusted agent to take care of you. in the closing process. That can only happen when you talk to an agent. Which agent you get is the important part. And that’s where finding the right website comes into play. The buyer should use these websites to find out more about the agent they might want to represent them. Finding out more about the agent before you get involved with an agent is the key to achieving your goals of buying or selling a home.

What you should be looking for is what the real estate agent experience is. Do they work full time as a licensed real estate agent? What is your closing success rate? Do you guarantee your services? What do previous clients have to say about the agent’s service? These questions can sometimes be found on the agent’s website, but if not, you should ask at the first contact with an agent. Now that you know how they got started and what they are, how do you choose the right website for you? First, let’s talk about the differences in these websites. We can divide it into four types.

The first type are the big non-brokerage sites like Zillow, Homes.com, Realtor.com, and Trulia. These sites do not have agents working in the field. What they do is sell leads that sign up to their site to agents hoping to convert the lead into a customer. These websites have worked hard to make sure home buyers find their site first. They’ve added a lot of great tools that estimate home values or mortgage calculators and all the information you can get on almost every house in the US and some other countries. They get most of this information from the public record and from what some homeowners may give them. The downside of these sites is that the information they use may be out of date or inaccurate. Take home values, for example, because they get their sold data (what price homes in the same neighborhood sold for) from public records, not the local MLS, their numbers may be behind market trends. In the world of Real Estate, we only look back at the last six months to help us determine the value of a home. While a home’s sales price can go on the public record right at closing, it can take months to sift through the system before these websites can include it in their data, and that will throw their numbers off balance. There is also a question about friendly houses. When a real estate agent or appraiser does a comparable market analysis (CMA) of a home’s value, they look for homes like the home in question (the home being appraised) of the same size, same bedrooms, same bathrooms, same size property, same neighborhood and same state. This can be a bit of an art and the question is: can a computer do as good a job as an agent? This can leave home buyers and sellers confused about the true value of a home.

I’d like to take this opportunity to weigh in on home values. In a free market, like ours here in the US, the true value of a house is exactly “the highest price a buyer is willing to pay and the minimum amount a seller is willing to accept” for any property. Only when a property is sold can the true market price be established and everyone else, realtors, appraisers, county appraisers, and any website, is just making an estimate or guess.

The second type of Real Estate websites are the large and mid-sized brokerage houses like Re/Max, Windermere, Coldwell Banker, Century 21, RedFin, and ZipRealty. These companies have multiple brokerages in many parts of the US These Real Estate companies have agents who work directly for the brokerage houses, usually as independent contractors. Leads or leads that sign up on their sites are assigned to the individual agent or sometimes sold based on the companies policies. These companies take a large part of the commission or payment from the agent, and some of them take 60% or more. This means that the agent has to work harder to convert as many leads as possible into customers just to make enough money to stay in business. Sometimes these agents take on more than they can reasonably handle, leading to poor customer service or a higher rate of transaction failures. Some of these companies give a refund to the buyer. This reimbursement comes out of the agent’s commission and can make it even more difficult for agents to provide good service to their customers. I have heard many complaints about agents disappearing once a contract was signed or agents refusing to show houses to buyers looking for houses at the lower end of the market and still wanting to write the contract and get paid. commission.

The third type of Real Estate website is small or independent brokerage houses. These businesses are generally owned and operated by experienced agents who have the skill and knowledge to create a good quality website and provide good service to buyers and sellers alike. You’ll find the same home search tools and email notifications as on the big sites, and because these sites serve local communities, these sites often have more information about the areas they serve and consumers can read more about the sites. agents they may want to use. in buying or selling their homes. These companies may have one or more agents who work together as a team or as independent agents and typically have a higher successful closing rate. What makes these sites the best option for home buyers or sellers are the agents that accompany them.

The fourth type of Real Estate website is the independent agent website. These websites are created by the individual agent or by a third party on behalf of the agent. They can be as good as any of the larger trading sites, depending on the skill, time, and money an agent is willing to invest. These agents can be very good agents, but most of them are little more than one page public resumes posted by agents hoping to attract buyers or sellers to the agent they are promoting.

So when considering a real estate website, buyers and sellers should keep in mind that a website won’t help you buy or sell your home, it’s the real estate agent. The website is a way to find the right agent to do the job. Think of it this way, since you can get home information from almost any website, what value do you get from a website? The value is in the service you receive from an agent who can save you time, money and the heartache of poor treatment or poor service.

Second-hand addiction: what exactly do you mean?

Today I went to pick up my three children at their father’s house. It was Super Bowl Sunday, 10 minutes before the game, and I was picking up my kids early because Dave, a late-stage chronic alcoholic, was drunk again.

His father was not in his right mind and was not happy about the early termination of his Super Bowl party. He swore at me several times in his loudest voice, he yelled at me to get out of his house and hovered over me, threatening to hit me. I am clearly a second-hand addict, an innocent person drastically affected by someone else’s addiction.

Dave’s mother was there, a quiet, refined woman from class. She soon found herself begging her 44-year-old son to let her grandson go and stop insulting her former daughter-in-law. Clearly, this peaceful soul is a secondhand addict, an innocent person drastically affected by someone else’s addiction.

My children were 14, 12 and 10 years old. They heard the threats and verbal attacks. My middle son was being forcibly held in his father’s lap. How would this and similar events imprint on his growing brains? How would it affect their lives as adults? How would the constant onslaught of such negative role models affect your upbringing? So also, how would this parenting affect their children one day? Clearly, these three, and all of their children to come, are secondhand addicts: innocent people drastically affected by someone else’s addiction.

Leaving the house, I called my ex-brother-in-law. I was afraid that when I left, Dave would turn his uncontrollable rage on his 80-year-old mother. Now my brother and sister-in-law were missing the super bowl to take care of his mom. They don’t like his brother very much these days. You can’t blame them, but it eats away at their souls. Clearly, they and their brothers and sisters are all secondhand addicts, innocent people drastically affected by someone else’s drinking.

Dave doesn’t have a job these days, having lost his when he couldn’t function to do his job anymore. So now we can add his abandoned boss to the list of second-hand addicts, not as drastically affected, but affected nonetheless.

Now we can move away from Dave and multiply all of these 20 or so people by the millions of addicts in the world to account for all of his family, employers, and close friends.

Can we begin to get an idea of how many second-hand addicts there are in the world?

But wait, our list is not over yet. Now we need to add all the people who have been killed by a drunk driver. And we need to add all of your grieving family and friends. So the list gets longer. And we must add all the people who have ever been mugged, physically assaulted, or even killed by someone who was high or needed money to get high. And we must add the family and friends who sat outside the Intensive Care Unit as they waited to see if their injured loved ones survived. They are second-hand addicts, people drastically affected by someone else’s addiction.

And they don’t even know it.

And the list gets longer.

But our list is not over yet. Many of our addicted citizens find themselves homeless at some point. Therefore, we must add to our list of second-hand addicts all the people who work the daunting task of helping them. And while we’re at it, we need to add the people who work the desperate task of trying to find jobs for addicted people, only to see their efforts fail time and time again. Everyone is severely affected by someone else’s addiction.

And we need to add the people who pay for all these services, as well as those who pay for the jails full of addicted people. We need to add you as a contributor to our list. Because you’re a secondhand addict, and you don’t even know it.

This blog is designed to help those whose lives are drastically affected by someone else’s addiction. And it is designed to send the message to each of us that we are all greatly affected by the addicted people who live among us, whether we know it or not.

And I’m not sure exactly what we’ll do once we figure this out. The answer is certainly not to shame and blame addicted people, which will only make the problem worse.

But I know this…

To change something, you must first see it.

So I’m here, along with my blog posts, to help you see the problem.

So I invite you to continue reading.

Motion to Correct Clerical Error in California Judgment

A motion to correct a clerical error in a California judgment is the subject of this article. Correcting a clerical error in a judgment entered in California requires the filing of a motion to amend the judgment in California to correct a clerical error under the provisions of section 473(d) of the Code of Civil Procedure.

This procedure is used to correct oversights or errors in the judgment record. However, it should be noted that it cannot be used to challenge the terms of the sentence. The motion may also request that the judgment be amended nunc pro tunc from the date the original judgment was entered.

A motion to amend a California judgment is filed to correct a clerical error on the grounds that the recorded terms of the judgment do not agree with the result stated when the judgment was initially entered. This motion is a very limited tool as it is authorized to be used only to correct clerical errors.

However, the trial court has very broad discretion in classifying such errors as an omission or error in judgment; an erroneous description in a sentence, inadvertence in signing a faulty sentence and an ambiguity in a sentence.

The characterization of a sentencing error as administrative rather than judicial is critical, since an administrative error can be corrected at any time, sua sponte by the court or at the request of one of the parties, even years or decades after the case was filed. have closed. . But a miscarriage of justice can only be corrected in a motion for a new trial or a motion to vacate and enter a new sentence.

Therefore, the party seeking to persuade the court that the error was merely administrative must be very careful and aware of how to properly characterize the error, and must be certain that the error is in fact administrative and not judicial.

However, it should also be noted that there are many instances in the California Supreme Court and California Courts of Appeals that have ruled that an omission or error in a sentence has been characterized as a clerical error. These instances include:

An omission in the determination of an account and decree of distribution that involves the succession of an estate;

Failure to include an order that one party pay the other party’s attorney and accountant fees when entering a judgment, and

The lack of a judgment to clearly name the defendants and to establish their liability to the plaintiff.

The California Supreme Court stated in a case decided more than 75 years ago that California courts have the power to correct clerical errors in their sentences at any time, regardless of how long it has been since the error was made or the decision was made. judgment. In that case, the Supreme Court held that a hearing and resulting nunc pro tunc order correcting a clerical error in a final distribution decree of an estate 35 years after original entry was valid.

The California Supreme Court also stated in a case decided more than 40 years ago that all courts have the inherent power to enter an order to enter judgment nunc pro tunc All courts have the inherent power to enter orders to enter judgment nunc pro tunc so that the sentence will be effective from the date on which it is actually registered.

Used in the right situations, a motion to amend a judgment to correct a clerical error can allow the plaintiff to correct a clerical error in a judgment, even if years or decades have passed since the date of the original judgment or decree. But the motion should only be used in the right situations when the error is clearly a clerical error and not a judicial error.
